In Memory of Ron & Marge Larson blue bags were donated to St. Columbkille
Parish as a tangible reminder to participate in
our parish food drive. On the last weekend of
each month, you are invited to take a bag from
the back of church, fill it with non-perishable
food items and bring it back to church the first
weekend of the month. The food donated will
be transported to one of our community food banks. Please join in
our parish effort to respond to the growing need of those facing
hunger in our community.

Dear Parishioners,
Sacred Scripture today reflects the example Jesus gave us: How
to respond to insults, painful relationships, temptations,
loneliness, abandonment, frustration with others, disappointment
with ourselves and others. Love. Jesus modeled for us the risk of
friendship as well as the joy of sharing our life together. Love.
Our life shares the Good News to all we meet.
Special Blessings upon all families celebrating First Holy
Communion this weekend! May the Body and Blood of Jesus
keep you ever close to Him now and for eternal life!
In three weeks, we will elect new members to our Pastoral
Councils and Faith Formation Commissions. If you or someone
you know is interested in serving God in this way please contact
me at the parish office. It is time for the next generation to
become servant leaders, welcoming new life in the Church, The
Body of Christ!
The American Legion is serving breakfast this Sunday morning
to benefit our veterans, 8 am—Noon at the Legion Hall, 1306
Delhi Street — Everyone is welcome!
Easter Blessings upon your family!

Vocations Corner—April 24, 2016
The Vocations Committee invites you to pray for Vocations,
especially those to Priesthood or Religious Life!
God Qualifies Those Whom He Calls
One big obstacle that the evil one loves to trip us up with, in
particular in the area of vocational discernment, is the idea that we
aren’t good enough. It might be that a boyfriend who is
contemplating proposal begins to doubt that he is good enough
for the one that he loves. Another scenario might find a young
man discerning priesthood but ultimately turning away from the
idea because he thinks that he’s not holy enough. In response to
this idea, we simply want to say this: what matters are not your
own gifts and abilities, or a self-perceived lack of them, but rather
what you allow God to work in you. If you feel insignificant and
powerless, know that God, through His grace, can work incredible
things in you. An important rule to remember in discernment is
that God doesn’t call the qualified, rather He qualifies those
whom He calls. Over and over again we see this in Scripture, in
particular with the Apostles who were simple men who wouldn't
have been on the top of most people’s lists of followers. Yet God
selected them to the gifts that they held within, gifts that others
might not have seen, gifts that they themselves might not have
seen! The important thing was that they were open to God’s plan,
and as such He achieved success in them and through them. So
don’t doubt what God can do in you, believe in Him, believe in
yourself, and answer His call!
