Seek to maximize the contribution of Africa’s highest largest economic sector to achieving the ambition of a self reliant and productive Africa that can play its full part on the world stage.

1. Extending the area under sustainable land management and reliable water control systems.
2. Improving rural infrastructure and trade-related capacities for
market access.
3. Increasing food supply and reducing hunger.

Current situation- Agricultural productivity is low and falling.- increasing spending on agricultural research and extension.- Spending on agricultural research in Africa is stagnant.- Private sector research will not fill the gap.- Agricultural research and extension services are not playing their important roles.
