Our founder Shri. Seshachalam Chettiar was born in a village,

„Urumu‟ of Andhra Pradesh, India, came to Trichy of Tamilnadu in the year,

1946 along with his wife Shrimathi. Dhanalakshmi Ammal. He

became a cloth merchant and started his business in an elaborate

manner and became wealthy.

He gave everything, his wealth and life for the cause of education. His

wife gave willingly all the jewels for his noble cause and supported him. He

established a Trust in the year 1952 by creating Shri. V.S. Chettiar

Educational Trust and he left on 17.11.1953. Our Founder„s Day is

celebrated on 17.11.1953 in memory of him.

He considered himself as an orphan by living in the orphanage, near

UDV School, Trichy. While constructing UDV School, he considered

himself as a labourer and he worked along with them. His aborable

qualities are honesty, simplicity and empathy towards the poor.

Moreover, he is a hard worker, social reformer & a symbol of love.

Our College is located in the outskirts of Trichy, situated in the

Trichy - Tanjore National Highway, which is on the way to BHEL. Our

College, started functioning at SIT in Trichy campus for the first two years

(1970-„72). Subsequently, the college is functioning in its own building, at

Pappakurichi Village, Kattur, since 1972.

Our College has been accredited with „A‟ Grade by NAAC (Cycle II) in

the year 2014 for which we are really feel proud.

OUR EMBLEM

Our College Emblem symbolizes the Sancity, Sincerity and

Sacrificial nature of our Founder to impart education for the

welfare of the poor and downtrodden. The Management,

Principal and the Faculty of our College have devoted

themselves to instill ethical values and noble virtues in the minds

of the young students.

Book : An intellectual treasure of mankind, the incalculable

source of creative power which is the token of the gracious

embellishment of our College symbol.

Lamp : The lamp symbolizes the source of knowledge,

wisdom and understanding which is the source of spiritual

tranquility.

Lotus : A divine flower, which is the symbol of purity of the

mind, body and speech, which represents long life,

health,honour and good health.

Rocket : This dream symbol of the rocket is a powerful tool to

fulfill the life’s of goals and dreams with the help of moral spiritual

strength to do absolutely anything along with scientific progress.

Star : Star is the luminous point’s of light, embedded in the

night’s darkness. The five pointed star in particular, with its

symbolic representation of the twinkling stars, has become an

human microcosm. The words “Bodri Visal” written in Telugu

in the emblem is coined based on the mantra, “Namo Narayana “

which our founder used to utter everyday to bring the celestial

source of relationship between teachers and students.

Rules and Regulation

1. College Timing : The College begins at 9.50 a.m.

and closes at 2.30 p.m with an interval of 30 minutes

between 12.20 to 12.50 p.m. At the first bell at 9.45

a.m students should go to their respective classes. No

student should leave the classroom during the class

hours without the permission of the teacher.

2. Attendance : Students should provide leave letter for

their absence with signature of the parent/guardian.

The leave application is available at the office.

Application for the leave must be submitted to the

Principal through the Head of the department. No

student should absent himself or herself for cycle test

and pre-semester examination.

3. On duty : Students can avail on duty after producing

the requisit ion form duly signed by the Head of the

Department and forwarit to the principal.

4. Examination : Student should not indulge in any kind

of malpractice in the examination.

5. Switch off Mobile : Mobile phones should be in

switched off mode during college working hours.

6. Dress code : Each student should be neatly dressed

in formal attire. The college lays great emphasis on

decent behaviour by preserving our own culture.


7. Identity Card : Every student must wear his / her

identity card within the campus and present it for

inspection on demand.

8. Don’t loiter : Student should neither loiter in the

verandah nor sit in the stair case or veranoiah

during class hours. The Student’s should remain

silent in their classroom.

9. Scribbling prohibited : Scribbling on the walls

and desks 15 strictly prohibited. Fine would be

collected for such damages.

10. Meeting & Agitation : Meeting and agitation of

any kind should not be held within the college

campus, without prior written permission from the

Head of the Department and the Principal. No

student shall send any information concerning the

college for publication either to press or elsewhere

without prior approval from the Principal.

11. Right of the Principal : Under the Government

Educational rules, the Principal has absolute right

concerning College to penalize or suspend or

dismiss any student found guilty or gross

misconduct inside or outside the college campus.

12. Struck off Role : The student who is constantly

absent without leave letter for 15 days or more is

liable to be struck off the rolls. He/she will be

eligible for attendance only on readmission.

EXAMINATION

Periodical tests, quiz and seminars will be conducted for every

semester for students. Absence from these tests, quiz,seminars

and examinations will be seriously dealt with.The decision taken

by college council on the basis of any student’s performance will

be final.

Students must be prompt in the submission of assignments.These

assignments will be valued by the teacher concerned and the

marks will be duly entered in the register.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

All students of the first year of the degree classes must receive

physical education as laid down by the university. 75%

attendance is compulsary for physical education. If a student has

failed to comply with this stipulation, his certificate of attendance

will be considered a incomplete.

The Physical Education scheme has been drawn by the college.It

falls into two parts:

1. Games and Sports

2. Various physical training exercises.

There will be two periods of physical Education, each consisting

of 45 minutes.

No students will be exempted from physical Education unless he

an she is duly certified by an authorised medical officer to be

unfit for physical education.

ATTENDANCE, LEAVE AND FINES

1. It is the duty of students to come to the College in time. They

must be inside the class room before the final bell.

2. No student shall absent himself/herself without leave obtained

from the class teacher. Printed forms of application for leave are

available at the office. Leave will not be granted for any

application which has not been signed by the class teacher as

well as by the parent or guardian. Application for the leave must

be submitted to the principal. No student shall absent himself on

herself for tests and examinations except for strong and valid

reasons.

3. Attendance will be lost for a student, if he/she absents himself /

herself without leave for a day, half a day or for a period.

Semester attendance and marks thereof for each subject will be

awarded by the concerned Heads of the Department.

4. Habitual late-comers will be dealt with suitably by the Head of

the department.

5. If a student is asleep or remains willfully inattentive when the

class is going on, he/she will be punished.

6. Suitable punishment will be imposed for absence for tests and

examination.


7. For the persistent disobedience to teachers, the severe

punishment will be imposed.

8. Punishment for absence without leave letter may be cancelled

by the principal, if the concerned student has been really ill and

if he or she produced medical certificate from an authorised

medical officer.

9. No attendance certificate will be issued to a student who fails

to secure 75% attendance.

10. If a student absents himself/herself from classes continuously

Library Rules

1. The Library will be kept open on all working days between 8.30

am to 5.30 p.m.

2. All students of the college are entitled to borrow books from the

college library.

3. Strict silence should be observed inthe reading rooms of the

library.

4. Faculty and students can borrow and return the library books

using their bar coded identity cards. Books will be issued only

on presentation of the Identity card bearing the name, number

and signature of the student.

5. In case the card is lost, the Librarian should be informed of the

fact at once, failing which the owner of the card will be

responsible for the books issued on presentation of that card. A

lost card may be replaced with a duplicate. Damaged library

cards will be replaced with new library cards.

6. The book should be returned on or before the due date which is

marked on the last page of all library books. Failure to return the

books in time will entail a fine of Rs.1/- per book per day.

Sundays and other holidays are excluded.

7. Readers must, on receiving a book, examine it, and report to the

library assistant any damage found therein. If they fail to do so,

they will be held responsible for any damage that may be detected

later.

8. The Librarian may recall any book at any time even before the

expiry date of the normal period of loan.

9. The Library will be kept open during vacation on specified days

which will be announced just before the commencement of each

vacation.

10. Students can make use of the Photocopying facility available in

the Central library.

11. Library tickets should be returned to the Librarian at the end of

the final semester.
