PRONOMBRES DE OBJETO DIRECTO
( )
PRONOMBRES DE OBJETO DIRECTO
• Direct-nouns or pronouns answer the question Whom? or What? in relation to the verb. José trae las tareas a clase. José las trae. Yo compro un libro nuevo. Yo lo compro. Nosotros invitamos a tus padres. Nosotros los invitamos. Nosotros invitamos a (tú). Nosotros te invitamos. Ellos invitan a (yo). Ellos me invitan.
• Direct-object pronouns are always placed directly in front of a conjugated verb, but may be attached to the end of an infinitive or a present participle. María ve las manzanas. María las ve. María quiere verlas. (ver = infinitive) María está viéndolas. (viendo = present participle)

SUJETO – VERBO – OBJETO DIRECTO
OBJETO INDIRECTO
There can be a direct object and an indirect object in the same sentence.
19
OBJETO INDIRECTO
• Because Indirect Object is always* a person:• A + INDIRECT OBJECT
• Maria loves her father.
– MARÍA HABLA A SU PADRE– MARÍA LE HABLA (A SU PADRE)
So, no matter what (Direct or Indirect Object) when the verb has effect over a person/s, you always add A.
*not really, but almost
20
PRONOMBRES DE OBJETO INDIRECTO
• The same as Direct-Object pronouns, Indirect-Object pronouns are always placed directly in front of a conjugated verb, but may be attached to the end of an infinitive or a present participle.
María habla a su padre. María le habla. María quiere hablarle. (hablar = infinitive) María está hablándole. (hablando = present participle)
Again, no matter what (Direct or Indirect Object) you can put the pronoun in front of the verb (or the verbs!)
María le quiere hablar. (hablar = infinitive) María le está hablando. (hablando = present participle) 21
GUSTAR
• When talking about one thing, the singular form, gusta, is used. (A mí) me gusta el fútbol.
• When talking about multiple things, the plural form, gustan, is used. (A mí) me gustan los deportes.
• When talking about more than one activity (infinitive verb), the singular form, gusta, is used. (A mí) me gusta nadar y correr.
Yo A mí me gusta

Whenever two object pronouns beginning with the letter L ocurr together in a sentence, the indirect-object pronoun (le-les) changes to “se”.
Since “se” may refer to “le” or “les” it is often necessary to use the preposition “a” plus a noun to clarify its meaning.
The order is always: SUJETO O INDIRECTO O DIRECTO VERBO
