News from the University of Melbourne Guaranteed Entry Scheme The University offers four types of guaranteed entry pathways to its professional entry graduate courses. For each pathway, students must enrol in an undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne to be eligible. A guaranteed entry is available for most graduate degrees, depending on the ATAR a student achieves:
ATAR of 99.90+ Chancellor’s Scholars Program
A guaranteed CSP place in any professional masters degrees, and no minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) in the undergraduate degree is required although prerequisites for the graduate degree must be met
ATAR of 96.00 – 99.85+ A guaranteed CSP place in a range of graduate degrees, subject to meeting the prerequisites and achieving a GPA of 65% in the undergraduate degree studied
ATAR above 94.00 A guaranteed fee place for students who meet the prerequisites and achieving the required GPA of 75% in the undergraduate degree studied
No ATAR These guaranteed entry pathways are based on academic performance in a current University of Melbourne undergraduate degree, and are not subject to any ATAR requirement.

News from RMIT University New Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning)/Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) RMIT’s double degree is believed to be the only one in Victoria that combines financial planning and accounting to develop the knowledge and capabilities to provide business, finance and wealth advice to individual. While developing specialist knowledge necessary to operate successfully in contemporary business and multidisciplinary environments, the program prepares students to provide holistic and integrated business, financial and wealth advice to the highest level of ethical and professional standards.
Graduates of this program will be a new type of advisory services professional who can provide business, financial and wealth advice on complex financial products and situations for a diverse range of clients. The specialised studies in accounting, financial planning and wealth management will introduce students to the regulatory and global influences relevant to the financial services industry, and develop their understanding of accounting, financial planning, financial products, risk management and investment strategies that are essential to providing financial and accounting services to clients. In addition, students will have the option to undertake a six month internship to apply their technical knowledge and analytical skills.
Current Year 12 students should have the following VCE prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 -‐ a study score of at least 25 in any English (except EAL) or at least 30 in English (EAL), and expect to attain an ATAR of 75 or more.

Changes to Maths requirement for Bachelor of Environmental Science The mathematics prerequisites for the Bachelor of Environmental Science and the double degrees with Business (Management) and Environment and Society have changed from a VCE Units 3 & 4 study score of at least 20 in “Mathematical Methods” to "a mathematics" (i.e. Further, Methods or Specialist). New double degree: Chemical Engineering/Pharmaceutical Sciences Gain an end-‐to-‐end understanding of how pharmaceutical products are designed and developed, as well as their process involved in the large scale production.
From Semester 1, 2017, RMIT will be offering a 4-‐year double degree in Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Sciences. As the pharmaceutical industry expands in Australia and world-‐wide, an understanding of the engineering process and other scientific fields involved in drug development and production, will ensure students are well equipped to work across a range of roles. Students will gain a thorough understanding of the principles of chemical engineering and pharmaceutical sciences, allowing them to apply their knowledge to large-‐scale production in the pharmaceutical industry.
Students will need to complete at least 12 weeks of engineering industry experience – allowing them to gain first-‐hand experience in an engineering environment under the supervision of a professional engineer. There are also opportunities for an overseas work placement of between six and 12 months (this satisfies the work experience requirement). These placements are normally taken during a one-‐year break in the middle or at the end of the third year of the degree.
Current Year 12 VCE prerequisites are: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 20 in Chemistry and in Mathematical Methods (CAS); and a study score of at least 25 in any English (except EAL) or at least 30 in English (EAL).

Career as a Paramedic Working as a paramedic means that no two days are ever the same. Ambulance paramedics are called when people feel they have no other options and are suffering what feels like an emergency to them. An interesting fact to remember when applying to become a paramedic is that the majority of the workload is not lights and sirens driving to save a patient's life. This job is more about helping people in their time of need as opposed to being a hero.
