Pine Trees catch and spread fire easily. Their dry needles are a wonderful fuel, some get sick and dry out, and while under an immense fire they tend to emit great flames dozens of meters high into the air. This is what incinerated the southern houses of Beit Oren (ironically means “Pine Tree Manor” in Hebrew)
