Building orientation
As the best orientation the face of the building should face north. As the building is in Lshape, a wing of the building falls in best orientation category while the other part of L is
worst oriented,

Floor plate daylight analysis
Meeting and Conferences to be controlled with occupancy sensors. All lights will be ON if in use. No
daylight integration considered.
668 m2 per floor (70% of total carpet area per floor) in each wing is daylite out of 929 m2 of office
area.
19% of office space is meeting and conference facilities. This is controlled by only occupancysensor and not considered for daylight integration.
11% of office space is not daylite as it does not have external vision window or light window.
Annaul average operational saving of 35% electricity consumption.

RNS auditorium Bangalore
Building faade:
All-round corridors and faade shading by aluminum box sections on
south-west and North-East faade.
70% of wall area has wooden paneling, which helps in reducing heatloads.
Artificial lighting:
Energy efficient general lighting fixtures with high lumen output 2 ft T8
18W lamps and with mercury content of 2-3 mg.
Micro CFL accent lighting.
Light power density (LPD): 10 W/m2 (ECBC

Auditorium used 80% for marriages (High Latent load).
Conventional case: 100 TR.
Proposed case cooling: 75 TR (25 TR: 3 numbers).
10% saving by shading and roof insulation.
Bangalore winter evening temperatures go down to 18 21
deg C.
Thermostat control to open up 100% fresh air dampers when
temperature drops below 19 deg C indoor temp 24 deg C.
CO2 control (500 ppm inside outside diff, ASHRAE 62) to take
care of fluctuating occupancy of marriage halls by optimizing
fresh air intake. Savings of 23%. Total Annual energy saving of 30 40%.
