Young AmbassadorThe Prince’s Trust

I formed a product design and branding agency called MeeCreative which was a spin out Enterprise Start-up from Swansea Metropolitan University.

As Managing Director I was responsible for the performance of the company, the board’s overall strategy and was the main face of the businesses. I thrived on engaging with clients and found a true passion for being a team leader.

In 2014 an opportunity presented itself which would allow me to further develop my leadership skills and head the product development and marketing departments in a growing and thriving welsh business.

I graduated in 2009 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) Product Design.

Being a Young Ambassador for the Prince’s Trust allowed me to inspire new businesses and entrepreneurs alike to grow their ideas and business proposals into physical and tangible models.

Providing knowledge and experience about what it takes to start up a business or enterprise, encouraged these people to take the plunge and scope out their routes to market.

I actively engaged in regular public speaking, carrying out inspirational talks to the young people the trust works with and being an all round role model.

Business Development ManagerRecliners

As Business Development Manager at Recliners, I was responsible and overseen both the product development and marketing departments of the business. My background and experience as a product designer allowed me to apply my methods of design across the two departments, embracing a collaborative environment, which fostered creativity and productivity.

I was responsible for the direction of the business and maintained strong business relationships, which formed one of the foundations in which the company was built. I was a true team leader, the motivator and the enthusiast who pushed both the company’s products and services to new and outstanding levels.

I have contributed to the teaching and delivery of Design Methods to the f irst year students on the Product Design programme over the past year.

Prior to this I have also delivered on other areas of the programme such as Design Visualisation (L4&5) and Design Methods (L6). In addition to my teaching practices I have made a valuable contribution to the programme in wider terms in areas such as enterprise events, workshops and supporting postgraduate learning experiences.

Docusense

DocuSense Limited, a leading data processing and document scanning company, approached me to design and implement a re branding of their company and to improve their presence on the web by creating a brand new website.

After creating a new professional logo and brand guidelines for the company, I began to migrate the content from DocuSense’s previous website and place it in a more modern and responsive layout design. The results are a polished rebrand, website and social media channels.

The Dylan Thomas Centre

The Dylan Thomas Centre is a thriving business and exhibition centre located in the heart of Swansea, South Wales. Run by Prifysgol Cymru (University of Wales) the business centre within the building lacked both professional signage and a consistent brand identity.

I was tasked with the creation of signage throughout the building to create an attractive face for the business centre’s exterior, with a professional and consistent look internally as well. After identifying key placements for the signs in and around the building, I developed a series of informative and visuallyimpressive signs and window vinyls that were in-keeping with Prifysgol Cymru’s brand guidelines. The signage served to provide a more effective navigation to visitors and tenants of the centre, and provide a more unif ied look to the Dylan Thomas Centre as a whole.

Cozikids

Cozikids is a supplier of specialised mobility seating in the UK and wanted to develop a brand identity to assist younger age groups in their product offering.

Four quirky and playful characters were brought to life who would be known as Jack, Jasmine, Annabelle and Charlie and they would also become the names of the chairs in the Cozikids range. Together, these characters were not only a family of four children but became a platform and a level that the children could interact and relate to.

The Prince’s Trust

Following my engagement with the trust and becoming a Young Ambassador, the Princess Trust Million Makers team asked me to design their annualChristmas card to cover the Enterprise Programme.

The Christmas cards would then be sold to generate further funding and raise awareness of the Million Makers initiative.

Recliners

Recliners are well-established mobility furniture manufacturers in the UK.

The company’s markets and landscape are stable and the brand is well positioned against their competition. Their identity has not changed for several years but due to competing in new market sectors, they felt it was the right time to refresh their brand and update their company image.

I simply updated the look and feel of the Recliners logo, avoiding any harm to the existing one. Whilst updating the company’s visuals to be more sophisticated and contemporary, I still wanted the brand to be very recognizable to their existing customers.

Slight alterations were made and as a result, they now inherit a distinctive brand and are acknowledged as a market leader within their industry sectors.

Relax In Comfort

Relax In Comfort is an established company with over 35 years experience in the mobility industry. With over 30,000 customers, the company designs and manufactures a wide range of made to measure reclining chairs catered to the individual client.

The company owner approached me with the requirements for a new identity for the company along with a new website design. The company’s customer base meant that the new company identity should portray a feeling of care and comfort. We adapted a soft colour palate along side a f lowing icon to symbolise the company’s approach to furniture manufacturing.

With the new brand in place, I then proceeded to design the website. My aim was to create a simple, easy to use site ideal for the older individual. I achieved this by using a larger, easily read font, a more minimal interface, and by making hover over states noticeable. On smaller screen sizes such as tablets and mobiles, the website becomes more user-friendly as boxes become more opaque and certain elements become easier to interact with.

Pool Federation of Wales

The Pool Federation of Wales (PFW) is the World rules organisation of 8ball pool in Wales. I was tasked to develop a re-brand that would become memorable and enhance the organisations image within the sport.

I developed a professional logotype that would work seamlessly across all mediums and their communication channels. This distinctive logotype has given the PFW a strong personality and promotes an ethos which echo’s the passion of the organisation as a whole.

Pool Federation of Wales

The Welsh Pool Association (WPA) is the Blackball rules organisation of 8ball pool in Wales. Having seen a lack in numbers on last year’s tours the organisation tasked me in developing a new brand name and visual DNA for the tours to attract a higher number of players.

With myself being an amateur pool player, this gave me great knowledge and insight into the sport in Wales. I developed two new tour brand names with a clean yet bold visual design language. A series of strategies were developed for the Welsh Blackball Super Tour using social media to engage with the players on a more frequent basis giving them access to live updates, tour information and up and coming events.
