In 2011, MOHE as part of its PSPTN agenda of creating a WC educational hub, accepted the Nobel challenge.

Moved towards attaining Nobel laureate by design and not by chance. Need to identify THE GIFTED as feeder.

2

RATIONALE

• 1.57 billion Muslims in the world

• Only 10 Nobel laureates so far , 6 in Peace, 2 in

Literature and only 2 Muslim Nobel Laureates in

the sciences (1 surviving – Ahmed Zewail)

The Ideal Process

The flow of Aqli knowledge

The truncation of the flow

The Worldview amongst children on Engineering was that it is a difficult field. Engineering students feel less

connected to nature. Many IPRs not allowing nature inspired and derived products. Communication between

naturalist was difficult. This is what hampered the sources of inspiration (Dalil Aqli) being worked for towards

technological advancement

Khaira Ummah from the deeds of Ulul Albab Al Abrar

USIM’s calling to create:

Muslim Nobel Laureates and future Muslim leaders in S&T but with a difference. They are future leaders with Al-Abrar personality

(Noble) who are innovative and capable of integrating revealed knowledge (Naqli) and human knowledge (Aqli) in their work and

daily life.

SCHOOL WITHIN THE CAMPUS

Few of its kind

10

Raffles Institution, Singapore has top 3% of Singapore’s best enrolled from Forms 1-upper 6. Majority of its

graduates enter the best universities in the UK and in the USA yearly. Raffles Institution showed an increasing

success rate.

10

RATIONALE

• This concept is not new.

• The University adopts the school, designed its curriculum and manages it for the gifted students in the country.

Students have access to University facilities

• Via Malaysian Research Universities Network (MRUN), KPT has created networking with the help of the

Academy of Sciences throughout the world, to the various Nobel laureate labs where students can be placed.

• There’s only two School Within Campus in Malaysia:

• PERMATApintar™ in UKM

• PERMATA Insan™ in USIM

• The PERMATA Insan™ Library currently house

1,772 books

• A repository of Original Work by scholars will be

established as a resource centre for PERMATA

Insan™. Sectioned by major fields of study

revealing the original source from AlQuran

and the work of scholars to unravel and

explain the natural world and our existence

• Current research facility include:

The Yayasan PERMATA funded RM1.3 mil.

“Halal Action for Young Scientist” (HAFYS)

Project which enabled a space converted to

house 4 major analytical instruments as Halal &

Toyyib Action Lab

• USIM allows full access to its faculty facilities

and faculty members’ research projects that

meet students’ interest

• USIM provides opportunities for short term

research grant projects for final year student

worth RM5,000, where high achieving KPI

students are also made eligible to compete

• Students we taught to be brave enough to

access and connect through Scholar Platforms

like RG – ResearchGate
