Fenomenologisch onderzoek
1 Welk inzicht komt eruit voort?

(Critical) Discourse Analysis
1 Welk inzicht komt eruit voort?
Caring because of…→
↓ Variables
1 Conventional habits 2 Personal engagement 3 Formal opportunity 4 Trained solidarity 5 Market mechanism 6 Improvisational effort to save oneself
Kind of care Caring for and caring that Caring that and caring for Caring that Caring that and caring for Caring that Caring that
Broadness of care
All kinds of care, help, support, incl. honor / respect
Care within the ethical universe of provider’s preferences
Program‐oriented and bureaucratic mediated care delivery
Additional care (lacking in the community or professional regime)
Only affordable care Emphasis on basic care for survival
DangerIdeologically rhetoric: huge gap between adhered ideal and empirical reality
Instrumental abuse of moral motives; decreasing role moral authorities; patronizing and too much based on self‐interest
Weak institutions, deficient opportunities and low or no priority for care for older persons: Westernization: care cfr. residential models of first and second world
Bad connection / no suitable, effective educational curricula;
Creaming: only for the well‐off; meritocratic logic
Acceptance injustice, dishonorable position of needy ones
Who receivers care?
Respected ones Choosen ones Needy ones Fellow citizen Who pays for it Self‐reliant ones
Space as place of care
Traditional community and family
Value community Welfare state: dispersed facilitiesReconstructed community of fellow residents
Market (personalized at home)
Social margins and social exclusion: unprotected public atmosphere
Space as domain of care
Cultural space, connected to identity and honor
Symbolic space: connected to preciousness of human life
Provisional space, connected to civil rights and justice
Social space connected to living well together
Economic space, connected to freedom of (rational) choice
Physical space, connected to endurance and survival
Space as room for care
Decreasing / against evidence and (high / spate) modernity
Decreasing but with potentials; modern motives for altruism?
Small but increasing cfr. Western welfare models
Increasable but in need of realistic and rigorous modernization of curricula
Increasing but vulnerable: (too) capitalistic model?
Increasing by fate: desperate measure
Manipulable by social interventions?
– – Shrinking and losing acceptability: hard to steer, influence or slow down
+/– Transforming and renewing itself, may be fostered and facilitated because of its idealistic potentials
+ Upcoming, seems inevitable, modern development, but looked at with suspicion and mistrust
++ Stimulated and well programmable: could in rhythm/pace, direction and acceptability best connect to life world and its discursivity
– Repulsing home‐grown solutions, much demanding for young states but powerful: self‐regulating
+/ – Symbolize the powerlessness of existing care institutions but may be transformed by empowering programs

Visual Data Analysis
1 Welk inzicht komt eruit voort?

Drie minder bekende benaderingen dus.
Ik denk: ten onrechte!
En u?
