English Consonants（子音）

Point 1. 子音はブレスで作る

　　英語発音の枠組みを作っているのが子音、そしてその枠組みに色を付けるの

が母音と考えましょう。音楽で言うと子音はドラムで母音はベースの役割です。

子音を作っているのはブレスです。ブレスが安定して吐き出されていないと子音はうまく出ま

せん。リラックスして息を漏らしながら少しだらし無く発音します。

Point 2. 無声子音と有声子音

　　英語の子音には無声音と有声音があります。無声音とは[s] や[p] など声を伴わずにブレ

スのみで発音される子音で、有声音とは[z] や[b] など、声を伴う子音の事です。

ここでよく勘違いされるのは有声子音は日本語の濁音の感覚で発音されてしまうことです。英

語の有声音は声の要素を加えるだけなので、日本語の濁音ほど音が濁りません。楽にブレス

が漏れる程度に声を軽く重ねましょう。

Point 3. Semi vowels（半母音）[r]/[w]/[y]

　　英語には母音の要素を含む子音があります。それが[r]/[w]/[y] のSemi Vowel（半母音）

と呼ばれるものです。ただこれらは単独では母音として機能せず、他の母音と組み合わ

せる事で母音としての役割を果すものです。これらの音は共通してBottom Areaで発音

されます。

3．Teeth Consonants Mixed (s/sh, ts/ch, z/j)

Front-teeth ConsonantsとBack-teeth Consonantsが混合するフレーズの練習

それぞれ単独では発音出来ても、[s/sh]などが混合したフレーズではついつい間違ってしまい

ます。つられてしまわないように、それぞれのポジショニングを確立させましょう。

4．TH Consonants (th/th) 1. 舌先を上前歯に軽く添えてブレスを逃がす。

2. [the]は通常は[ th uh]と発音するが、母音と絡むと[ th ee]と発音される。

3. またそれ以外で強調したい時などにも[ th ee]と発音される。

1. 「上前歯」と「下唇」を軽く重ね合わせ、その隙間からブレスを逃がす。
