01 WYNWOOD PUBLIC PLAZA
02 MARVIN’S IGA
01 WYNWOOD PUBLIC PLAZAThis public plaza is proposed for a growing multi-use community in Wynwood, Miami, Florida which has previously been a place of industry. Due to this previous land use, the community is lacking in any public open spaces, Therefore, this project aims to provide a vibrant public open space that acts as a social hub for the neighboorhood. The goal is to integrate play into everyday life for children, teens, adults, and seniors. Using the elements of water, vegetation, building, and structure the plaza program takes form into three key areas. These areas are identifi ed as the childrens’ play area, fl exible plaza area, and beer garden area.

MARVIN’S IGA02This project is to provide the community of Fayetteville with a family based grocery store who’s interior and exterior spaces refl ect the local character of Fayetteville and the greater Ozarks. A pedestrian friendly corridor along the College Street increases safety and establishes Marvin’s IGA as a destination for people who want to walk or ride their bicycle. This was a collaborative project with a fellow student.

03 MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT
N
The project involves creating a mixed-use development in an existing two block parking lot located in downtown Fayetteville, AR. The mixed-use buildings include offi ce space, residential space, and retail space. The design features a public plaza enlosed by retail and a public park above a parking garage. Streets are lined with rain gardens, while roof gardens occupy the northern lot. This project is part of a construction sequence which required a grading plan, layout plan, details, planting design, and fountain design. The fountain design represents the two blocks’ separate watersheds coming together in the larger watershed. The water features are meant to be approachable and are located in the plaza.

FOURCHE BOTTOMS
LITTLE ROCK CITY LIMITS
The purpose of this project is to address the challenges associated with the Fourche Bottoms, one of the largest urban wetlands in the country. Designs and exihibition materials were created the studio to showcase the potential of the Fourche Bottoms as a public resource to Little Rock. Design strategies increase vision for community access, improve water quality and habitat, create recreational opportunities, and enjoyment of the Fourche Bottoms. The strategies and information about the Fourche Bottoms were displayed as an exhibition at Studio Main gallery in Little Rock and on a website in order to further communicate the social, economic, and environmental benefi ts of the Fourche Bottoms.
I Wish I could at the Fourche Bottoms.
Postcards, keychains and a variety of other materials were fabricated to communicate the importance of the Fourche Bottoms to the public.

The proposed trail system is a recreational trail that adapts to the changing environments that it intersects. The trail typologies are Urban, Forest, Mountain, Wetland, Park, and Pond. In each of these typologies the atmostphere changes distinctly creating an opportunity for the trail create an new experience. The material and form of the trail changes as it meets these diff erent areas. The trail connects UALR campus, the Fourche Bottoms, and nearby residential areas. Connecting these areas with a trail system invites the university to do research in the Fourche Bottoms, and creates opportunity for the residents of Little Rock to be active outdoors. This trail system would connect with other interventions in the Fourche Bottoms in order to create a network throughout Fourche.

05 MT. KESSLERThe purpose of this project is to reevaluate the existing trail system and create opportunites for appreciation on Mt. Kessler, a preserved mountain near Fayetteville, AR. This trail system plan recommends trail alignments around sensitive areas, new trails and trail heads, as well as interventions such as overlooks, rest areas, and outdoor classrooms. The area I selected to design is located along the ridge of the northern side of the mountain with views to the west. The design features formations of boulders to provide overlook and rest area opportunities. Creating a circular formation with the stones encourages communal gathering, casually or formally.
