Brief Introduction

We would like to introduce Flowbus Corporation as one of the most reliable suppliers for pneumatic and hydraulic actuators and valve automation, and is committed to its philosophy of

“Process Valve Control & Safety Specialist”. We started its business on Nov. 25th, 2004 presently, we are engaged in the business fields of Onshore and Offshore oil and gas, Power generation, Petro-Chemical, Desalination and Water treatment by providing the completely tailored solutions of the industrial automation valves.

With our uniqueness and commitment to the customers, we became the leading supplier of the wide range of products from simply on-off to complete valve automation systems since started the business based on Gwangju manufacturing plant, Korea in Nov. 2004.

In June 2010, for capitalizing on our own enlarged R&D and production capacity whilst increasing quality control and on-time services, we have expanded our manufacturing plantand headquarter to the Sihwa industrial complex, Korea where operates in conformity with ISO9001:2008, ISO14001:2004 and OHSAS18001:2007 so that our customers can select Flowbus products with confidence.

Our pneumatic & hydraulic actuators are produced on the basis of well-founded facilities, state-of-the art technology and skills. We design, manufacture and test the light to heavy duty actuators which are classified into the Scotch Yoke types such as EPT, EPA, EHT actuators and Rack & Pinion type; EPR actuators.

Through the installation of various fire protection systems, criticalvalve actuation systems can be efficiently protected from danger anddamage from fire. Flowbus is able to offer fire proofing systems forboth new and existing actuators and controls systems in accordancewith UL 1709.

Flowbus mounting kits and couplings can be designed andmanufactured for valves and actuators in accordance with ISO 5211or to meet specific customer requirements.

Flowbus can meet customer’s requirement for achieving a very shorttime in emergency operation of valves with using our own technologysuch as damper valve and FQV service valve. We can provide twoseries of quarter turn quick operating actuators; Hydraulic andpneumatic quick acting actuator. Wide Range of Torque OutputsThe EPR double acting actuator has torque outputs from 11.5 to 5877 N.m (99 to52003 ins.lbs.), while the spring return actuator produces spring end torques from 4.4to 1197 N.m (38.6 to 10597 ins.lbs.). 02_Large Piston DesignR-type actuators are designed with an optimally sized piston rack. This minimizes backlashbetween the rack and pinion ensuring that they are precisely engaged. This featureguarantees excellent power delivery and accurate valve modulation.

03_Advanced Rack and Pinion DesignA compact, rugged construction, with dual rack andpinion, guarantees stable torque output throughout theactuator’s travel. The design is also suitable for high-cycle, high-speed duties.

04_Travel AdjustmentR-type actuators provide two external travel stopsallowing for 5 adjustment in both open and closedpositions. This allows accurate valve alignment andprovides actuator travel adjustment from 80 to 100 .Optional bolts fitted to the end caps can provideadditional travel adjustment, for the open position. Theexternally adjusted bolts can provide open positiontravel from 0 to 100 .

05_Piston Guide PlateA permanently lubricated, replaceable guide plate is fitted to the piston rack toalosorb lateral defiection and ensure smooth operation by eliminating metal tometal contact, improving wear resistance and increasing efficiency.

12_Simple to ConvertConverting from double acting to spring return configuration issimple and performed by removing the end caps and adding theunique spring cartridges. Actuator rotation is field reversible bysimply removing, rotating by 180 and re-installing the pistons.

08_Blow-Out Proof Drive ShaftThe pinion is fitted with an octagon shaped anti-blow out devicecombined with an oxy-nitriding plated blowout proof bearing, toprovide safe, high cycle life. An electroless nickel is optionallyavailable according to customer’s requirement.

09_NAMUR Standard InterfacesFor ancillary equipment such as positioners and switchboxes, thelatest VID/VDE 3845 mounting interface is provided to allow quick andsimple mounting with direct pinion drive. A NAMUR solenoid mountingpad allows direct mounting of solenoid valves to the actuator.

Actuator Operation

Double Acting ConfigurationAs standard the actuator is supplied for counterclockwise rotation whenpressure is applied to port A. This pressurizes the internal chamberdriving the pistons apart. When air is applied to port B the end chambersare pressurized driving the pistons together causing clockwise actuatorrotation. If required, the pistons can be inverted in the housing resultingin clockwise rotation when pressure is applied to port A.

Spring Return ConfigurationAs standard the actuator is supplied for clockwise rotation in airfailure mode. When port A is vented the springs drive the pistonstogether, causing clockwise rotation. When pressure is applied to portA the internal chamber is pressurized driving the pistons apart andcompressing the springs, causing anti-clockwise actuator rotation.Port B is used as a breather for the spring chamber swept volume.

Torque Outputs

Double ActingThe R-type actuator is designed such that torque is independent ofactuator travel and is constant throughout the travel range.

Spring ReturnSpring return actuators have both spring and air torques and eachtorque has a higher start figure than the end figure. Then R-typeactuator is designed such that the spring and air start torques areequal, as are the spring and air end torques.

01_Scotch Yoke MechanismThe RY-type pneumatic actuator features a modern scotch yoke mechanismthat provides high start and end torque output in a very compact package. It isavailable in both double-acting and spring-return configurations.

02_Travel AdjustmentRY-type actuators provide two external travel stops allowing for 4adjustment in both open and closed positions. This allows accurate valvealignment and provides actuator travel adjustment from 82 to 98 . Optionalbolts fitted to the end caps can provide additional travel adjustment, for theopen position. The externally adjusted bolts can provide open position travelfrom 0 to 98 .

03_Corrosion ProtectionPolyester powder coated end caps provide excellent anti-corrosion properties, and optional finishes are availableif required, including PTFE coating, electroless nickelplating or hard anodizing.

04_Wide Range of Torque OutputsIn order to provide the widest possible range of torqueoutputs, Flowbus have designed the EPRY actuator rangewith either a single piston or dual piston layout.Each actuator size is available in both single and dualpiston, with the single piston design fitting just belowthe dual piston in the torque output table.

09_Spring Cartridge SafeThe RY-type actuator has been designed with an inherently safespring return unit. The actuator spring rod is connected to both thespring end cover and retainers so that the spring is fully retainedduring assembly or disassembly. This prevents accidental release ofthe spring force, and ensures that installation or maintenance canbe performed in complete safety.

10_Various Manual OverridesThe jackscrew override is integrated in the end cap of the actuatorand can be fitted to all RY-type actuators units in both double-actingand spring-return configurations. This manual override is theoptimum solution for customers requiring a compact unit ofminimum weight and size.

Operational Data

MediaThe operating media should be clean instrument air or non-corrosivegas. The media can be lubricated or non-lubricated. It should have adew point of -20 C or at least 10 C below the ambient temperature,and a maximum particle size of 50 micron.

Supply PressureThe EPR-Series is rated for continuous operation at pneumaticsupply pressures from 2 to 8 bar (40 to 116 psig). 10 bar (145 psig) isoptionally available.

Temperature RangeStandard Range : -20 C to 80 C (-4 F to 176 F)Low Temperature (optional) : -40 C to 80 C (-40 F to 176 F)High Temperature (optional) : -10 C to 150 C (14 F to 302 F)

Torque OutputsThe EPR double acting torque output ranges from 11.5 to 5877 N.m(99 to 52003 ins.lbs.) and the spring return actuator produces springend torques from 4.4 to 1197 N.m (38.6 to 10597 ins.lbs.).

01_EPR-Series actuators are a rugged and compact design,available in both double acting and spring return configurations forquarter-turn valves.

02_The EPR-Series actuator combines a high precision, extrudedaluminum alloy body with a hard anodized surface finish forexcellent performance.

03_Die-cast aluminum end caps are polyester powder coated forimproved corrosion resistance.

04_The EPR-series has designed, allowing efficient, reliableperformance and long life.

05_All moving parts are fitted with permanently lubricated,replaceable bearings and guide plates to eliminate metal to metalcontact and minimize internal wear.

06_The EPR-Series incorporates the latest VDI/VDE 3845 mountinginterface and a visual position indicator as standard.

07_EPR-Series actuators are designed to offer excellent corrosionresistance in industrial and commercial applications.

08_The EPR-Series actuator is designed for low maintenance anddoes not require any special tools.

13Actuators for Quarter -Turn Valves _

09_The EPR-Series actuator is available with a declutchablegearbox option. This allows quick and simple operation of thehighest torque valves when the air or power supply fails.

10_EPR-Series actuators are certified to IP66/IP67 protectionratings.

11_External travel stops provide 5 (rack & pinion mechanisim),4 (scoth yoke mechanisim) of travel adjustment in both directions

of pinion rotation. Optional bolts can be provided in the end caps forgreater adjustment.

12_Spring assemblies are designed for high torque and reliableperformance.

13_In case of rack & pinion mechanism, conversion from doubleacting to spring return configuration is simple and performed byremoving the end caps and adding the required spring cartridges.

14_The blow-out proof pinion provides safety andexceptional gear life.

15_The gear teeth of rack and pinion are preciselymanufactured to minimize back lash and offerexcellent performance for modulating applications.

16_RY-type actuators are designed with aninherently safe spring return unit to preventaccidental release of the spring forces.

Declutchable GearboxThe EPR-Series actuator is available with a declutchable gear boxoption. This allows quick and simple operation of the highest torquevalves when the air or power supply fails.

Declutchable Side HandwheelThe declutchable side handwheel is integrated in the end cap of theactuator and can be fitted to the RY-type actuator units in bothdouble-acting and spring-return configurations.

Complete Actuator PackagesFrom simple on/off duties with switchboxes and solenoid valves tocomplete modulation packages with smart positioners or ESD partialstroke testing devices, Flowbus is able to supply an actuatorpackage to suit any duty or customer requirement.

Mounting Kits & CouplingMounting kits and couplings for EPR-Series actuators can bedesigned and manufactured by Flowbus in accordance with ISO5211 or specific customer requirements.

2 Advanced Sealing Compounds The T-type actuator utilizes both PTFE and rubber seals. ThePTFE seal offers a high level of sealing performance and is selflubricating, ensuring smooth operation of moving parts. Therubber seal offers long term, high performance sealing with notendency to set or creep.

3 Spring Rod NutThe spring rod nut locks the spring to prevent accidental release underrepetitive spring impacts.

1 Piston Guide RingThe T-type actuator has a guide ring fitted to the piston toprevent lateral deflection, ensure smooth, steady operation andextend piston life.

7 External Tie RodsThe external tie rods protect the cylinder tube from accidental damageduring piping work and prevent deformation.

8 High Efficiency The T-type piston rod is locked by a guide block, supported by a highstrength alloy steel guide rod with a self-lubricating bearing. Thisensures efficient operation and improves the transfer of energy fromthe actuator to the valve stem.

9 Wear ResistanceThe T-type actuator guide rod has an advanced surface treatment,which, combined with self-lubricating bearings, provides superiorwear resistance and extends the life of all sliding components.

10 Corrosion ResistanceT-type actuators incorporate four stages of internal and externalcorrosion resistant coating to resist severe weather, chemical andpetroleum environments.

11 Safe Spring ModuleTo ensure the safety of personnel during installation andmaintenance, and prevent accidental release of the spring force, thespring module has been designed so that it can only be removed fromthe power module with the spring in the fully extended position.

12 Simple AssemblySpecially designed dowel pins in the main actuator drive moduleensure simple and accurate alignment of modules when assemblingthe actuator or performing maintenance.

4 Simple Actuator MountingThe T-type actuator yoke is designed with two full-length keyways.This not only simplifies assembly but also allows for ease ofmodification to the actuator orientation to accommodate last minutepipe work changes, in addition to providing easier visual confirmationof alignment, thus reducing maintenance and assembly time.

6 WATSTM Wide Adjustable StopperIn order to set the actuator travel to give an accurate valve open/close point, two adjustable travel bolts are installed in front of the drive module. The unique shape of the yoke arm gives right-angled contact between bolt and yoke preventing deflection or damage. This unique design extends the adjustable range from -25 to +5 degrees.

5 Replaceable Bearing Low friction, permanently lubricated,high performance bearings protectall components, extending actuatorlife by ensuring smooth operation. Bearing replacement is simple andinstructions can be found in theoperating & maintenance manual.

Design and Construction

VersatilityThe T-type modular design consists of spring, power and drive modules. The modules havebeen designed for easy disassembly and this allows the actuator to be quickly and easilyconverted from double acting to single acting configuration, or for the addition of ancillariessuch as a manual override unit. The modular design allows these modifications to beperformed without removing the actuator from the valve.

Weather Proof T-type actuators comply withIP66 and IP67 specifications andare rated for high-pressure waterdeluge resistance.

High Visibility Position IndicatorA high visibility position indication beacon is available as an optionalfeature on the T-type actuator. The indicator is impact resistant andweather proof to IP67

High Torque and Compact DesignThe T-type actuator is smaller in comparison with other actuatorsoffering similar torque outputs. This reduces the overall valvepackage envelope providing a more compact design.

Integral Housing VentThe main actuator housing incorporates an integral check valve inorder to release overpressure while preventing ingress of foreignobjects or water.

ISO or MSS MountingT-type actuators have valve mounting pads in accordance with MSS SP -101 or ISO 5211standard.

Torque OutputsT-type actuators have torque outputs ranging from 398N.m (3,526inch-lb) up to 800,000N.m(7,088,000inch-lb) and are rated for continuous operation at pneumatic pressures from3Bar (40psig) to 12Bar (170psig).

Temperature RangeStandard range: -20°C to +80°C (-30°F to +144°F)Special Low Temperature (optional): -45°C to +80°C (-81°F to +144°F)Special High Temperature (optional): -20°C to +177°C (-30°F to +318.6°F)

Spring UnitTo avoid accidental release of spring force the spring units are supplied as fully weldedmodules. The spring and spring retainer are self-centered and bearing guided within thespring module, ensuring accurate alignment and extending spring life. The spring iscompressed towards the drive module during operation, provides no impact on the spring endcover, reducing stresses and increasing safety. The spring tension can be adjusted to giveoptimum torque outputs.

External Tie RodsExternally mounted tie rods secure the piston cylinder assembly. These tie rods are designedto maintain cylinder integrity in the case of over pressurization by the pneumatic supply. Also external tie rods help to protect the cylinder from accidental damage.

Ancillary BracketA multi function bracket is available for ancillaries. The bracket can be assembled in variousconfigurations to provide optimum mounting of ancillary equipment

Optional NAMUR StandardT-type actuators have an optional VDI/VDE 3845 mounting interfaceenabling simple mounting of ancillary equipment.

Optional Visual IndicatorA high visibility position indicator is available as an option.

Spring Safety LockSpring tension can be adjusted. The spring module is designed with atension lock ensuring that the spring force cannot be accidentallyreleased during disassembly from the drive module.

Lifting EyesLifting eyes are factory installed making transportation, installationand assembly simple and safe.

Optional Manual OverrideOptional manual overrides such as jackscrew, gear and hydraulic overridecan be incorporated in accordance with customer's requirements. Thespecially designed hydraulic override cylinder is installed inside thespring module; this standardizes actuator overall length and isolates thehydraulic fluid to eliminate contamination and spillage.

Approvals and Industry StandardsActuators manufactured in conformity with CE certification to PED 97/23/ECActuators certified in accordance with ATEX 94/9/ECActuators certified to IP66/IP67Actuators designed and manufactured under a third party accredited ISO 9001:2000 quality assurance program.
