In an emergency, dial 999 on any UK phone (landline or mobile) for Police, Ambulance and the Fire Brigade.

King’s College Hall is located in Camberwell an urban area of London

close to good transport links.

Among the benefits of living in Camberwell is the price – you can live

for much less here than in most other areas of London. There are many

cheap restaurants and amenities nearby and you will be at the heart of

multicultural London.

It is close to the Dulwich Picture Gallery which is the oldest purpose-built

public art gallery in England and the Red Gate Gallery which organises

a vast range of innovative exhibitions, from young and emerging artists,

to the more established. The Horniman Museum and Gardens housing

an intuitive collection of cultural, anthropological and environmental

exhibits, is a short bus ride away in Forest Hill. Also nearby is the

Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, which is an international venue

for major athletic meetings.

The campus provides facilities for the School of Medicine and the Dental

Institute and is the home of the Institute of Psychiatry.

Getting aroundLondon has a vast public transport system and an ‘Oyster’ card is generally the cheapest way to make single journeys in the Capital. An Oyster card can store up to £90 of credit, which can be used to pay as you go, plus your Travelcard or Bus and Tram Pass.

It can be used on London Buses, London Underground, London Trams, the DLR, London Overground and some National Rail services in London. You can also get up to a 1/3 off River Bus services.

Pay as you go has several advantages over paper tickets:• Oyster single fares are generally cheaper • Credit can be used as you need it and doesn’t expire • Daily price capping automatically calculates the cheapest fare for all the

journeys you make in a single dayBut if there is a group of you travelling together check at the ticket kiosk if a group ticket would be cheaper.

An 18+ Student Oyster photocard entitles the holder to buy student-rate Travelcards and Bus and Tram Pass season tickets (valid for 7 days, or one month or longer periods of up to one year), which cost 30 per cent less than an adult-rate season tickets.

Credit can also be added to an 18+ Student Oyster photocard to pay as you go at the adult rate, which is cheaper than paying cash. However, single, daily, 3 Day tickets and Oyster single fares (pay as you go) are not available at student rate. If you live near your school or college or only make a few jour-neys you can get a standard Oyster card and pay as you go at the adult rate.

Student Advice & International Student Support co-ordinates the Money Doctors Project at King’s College London. It is led by the Consumer Financial Education Body and aims to improve the financial capability of students. If you are struggling with your finances, contact a Student Adviser as soon as possible.

We understand that for all students, finance is a priority. Getting it right from the start can make university much more enjoyable and far less stressful. Preparation and planning is the key and opening the right bank account for you is a good place to start. Please see our website for more information: www.kcl.ac.uk/moneydoctors

Remember, lots of shops, services and restaurants in London will offer a student discount if you have student I.D. Offers are too numerous to mention here, so don’t be too shy to ask in shops and restaurants. http://www.nus.org.uk/nus-extra/
