ทานผูอานที่รักในพระคริสตทุกทาน พวกเราแผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะหลูเธอรแรน (LDD) ขอใหป 2008 เปนปแหงพระพรของทุกทาน ปท่ีผานมาเปนปครบรอบ 20 ป! ของ แผนกฯ ภายใตแผนกฯใหมนี้บานพระคุณซึ่งเปนพันธกิจแรกตั้งขึ้นในเดือนธันวาคม 1987 ตอจากนั้นพันธกิจอื่น ๆ ก็ตามมา โดยท่ีบางพันธกิจยังคงดําเนินตอเนื่องมาจนถึงทุกวันนี้ ในขณะที่บางพันธกิจก็มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงไปจากเดิมบาง ในเรื่องนี้ นักคริสเตียนสงเคราะหหญิง Ms Anneli Könni ซึ่งเปนผูอํานวยการคนแรกของแผนกฯ จะเปนผูแบงปนประสบการณในเรื่องของการเริ่มตนงานทางดานนี้ จากการเริ่มตนตามกําลังที่เปนไปได แผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะหไดเติบโตขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ ในแตละปท่ีผานไป ตามความจําเปนเรงดวนและความเรียกรองที่มีอยูอยางไมขาดสาย เมื่อกอต้ังครั้งแรกนั้น บานพระคุณเปนบานเชา อยูแถวสําโรง มีผูหญิงที่เปนแม 2 คน พักอาศัยอยูท่ีนั่น มาถึงปจจุบันนี้ บานพระคุณไดเปนที่พักพิงแกผูหญิง 1050 คนพรอมลูกนอยของพวกเธอ ทุนการศึกษาจากหลายโครงการภายใตการสนับสนุนของ LDD ณ ปจจุบันนี้ไดทําใหเด็กจํานวน 400 กวาคนในแตละป ไดเขาศึกษาเลาเรียน ความชวยเหลือของบานอิมมานูเอล ในอุบลราชธานี มีเด็กที่ไดการชวยเหลือ 17 รุนในกลุมตาง ๆ เรียนจบชั้นมัธยมปลาย แลวยังใหการชวยเหลืออยางตอเนื่องกับเด็กเหลานี้หลายคนเพื่อใหพวกเขาไดมีโอกาสเขาเรียนตอในระดับมหาวิทยาลัย ศูนยชวยเหลือผูติดเชื้อ AIDS ไดนําความหวังไปสูหลาย ๆ ครอบครัวท่ีติดเชื้อ HIV/AIDS และการนําความรูเรื่องเอดสแกหลายพันคน พันธกิจลาสุดภายใต LDD คือ พันธกิจผูสูงอายุ ท่ีแสดงใหเห็นวาจําเปนอยางยิ่งที่จะตองมีพันธกิจนี้ นอกจากนี้ก็ยังมีพันธกิจอื่น ๆ ดวยเชนกัน อยางเชน พันธกิจชวยเหลือทารกที่ถูกทอดทิ้ง ซึ่งเปนพันธกิจที่ทํารวมกับโรงพยาบาลสรรพสิทธิ์ประสงค ในอุบลราชธานี ระหวางป 1996-2005 มีทารกทั้งหมด 96 คน ท่ีทางพันธกิจใหการดูแลผานโรงพยาบาล จนพันธกิจมอัีนตองยุติไป เนื่องจากรัฐบาลไดเห็นถึงความจําเปนที่จะตองเขามาชวยเหลือทารกเหลานี้ และสรางสถานเลี้ยงเด็กกําพราขึ้นเพื่อสงตอทารกที่ถูกทอดทิ้งไปเลี้ยงดูได ดังนั้นจึงไมมีความจําเปนที่จะดําเนินพันธกิจนี้ตอ สถานการณมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงอยูตลอดเวลาและการประเมินผลงานอยางตอเนื่องเปนสิ่งที่จําเปน และเปนความจริงที่วา จํานวนของตัวเลขชวยใหเรามองเห็นผลงานที่ทํา แตเราตองไมลืมวา จะใชตัวเลขเพียงอยางเดียวเปนตัววัดผลงานคงทําไมได ท้ังนี้เพราะทุกชีวิตมีคุณคาและมีบุคลิกเฉพาะตัว ในสายพระเนตรของพระบิดาเจา และในความรูสึกนึกคิดของเรา 20 ปผานไป เราจะยังคงเดินหนาและดําเนินพันธกิจที่กลาวมาขางตนตอไป พันธกิจสงเคราะหอ่ืน ๆ ของ ELCT ตอไปอยางตอเนื่อง คําอธิษฐานและการสนับสนุนชวยเหลือของทานคือพลังใจและพลังที่จะทําใหงานของเราขับเคลื่อนตอไปได ในชวงเทศกาลมหาพรตที่กําลังจะมาถึงนี้ การออมเพื่องานคริสเตียนสงเคราะหจะมีรูปแบบเชนเดียวกับปท่ีผานมา จะมีการแจกจายกลองถวายสีมวงไปตามคริสตจักรตาง ๆ และในวันคริสเตียนสงเคราะหของ ELCT ขอใหทานนํากลองนี้กลับไปบานดวย และใหทานนําเงินที่ทานตองการถวายเพื่อเพื่อนบานผูยากไรใสลงไปในกลองนี้ทุกวันตลอด 40 วันของเทศกาลมหาพรต แลวใหทานนํากลองนี้กลับมาที่คริสตจักรในการนมัสการวันอีสเตอร โดยท่ีคริสตจักรของทานจะเปนผูตัดสินใจวา จะนําเงินถวายไปชวยเหลือผูยากไรในคริสตจักรหรือผานทางพันธกิจของแผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะห เทศกาลมหาพรต เปนชวงเวลาของการกลับใจใหม เปนชวงเวลาของการแสวงหาน้ําพระทัยพระเจาที่มีตอชีวิตของเรา และระลึกถึงการทนทุกขของพระคริสต ธรรมเนียมปฏบัิติของคริสเตียนในชวงเทศกาลมหาพรต ก็คือ การอธิษฐานและการอดอาหาร อยางไรก็ตาม ไมไดหมายความวา ในเทศกาลนี้ เราควรจะเอาใจใสเฉพาะชีวิตของเราเองเทานั้น พระคําของพระเจายอมจะทรงนําเราใหเห็นถึงความตองการความชวยเหลือของเพื่อนบาน ดังนั้นการชวยเหลือผูอ่ืนตามแบบอยางของพระคริสต ยอมรวมอยูในสิ่งที่เราจะกระทําในชวง เทศกาลมหาพรตนี้ดวย

Dear readers, Blessed year 2008 to all of you from the Lutheran Diakonia Department (LDD)! Last year the LDD turned 20 years! The Home of Grace was established in December 1987 and was the first ministry under the then new department. Afterwards more ministries were added. Some of those ministries are still carrying out their activities; some have seen some changes. In this issue Deaconess Anneli Könni, who was the first director of the LDD, shares her experiences of the beginning of the work. From a very humble beginning the department has grown during the years according to the needs and challenges placed for it. When the Home of Grace was first started in hired prem-ises at Samrong area, there were two mothers staying there, yet by today, 1050 women and their babies have found a shelter at there. Several scholarship programs under the LDD cur-rently support more than 400 students yearly, whilst the Immanuel Home in Ubonratchathani has helped 17 age groups to finish high school and supported many of them to continue their studies at university level. The AIDS Support Center has brought hope to many families af-fected by HIV/AIDS and thousands of people have been given AIDS education, and the latest addition to the ministries under the LDD, the Ministry among Elderly People, has also already proved that it is very much needed. In addition to these, there have been other ministries, too, such as the ministry for abandoned babies. It was carried out in co-operation with the Sappha-sitprasong hospital in Ubonratchathani, and between years 1996-2005, a total of 96 babies were cared for at the hospital ward through this ministry until its termination, resulting from the government’s construction of an orphanage for these babies in need. As a result, the minis-try was no longer needed. Circumstances are changing all the time and all ministries require continuous evaluation. Al-though looking at statistics may help us understand the impact of our work, we should remem-ber that these results are not only accountable by numbers, as, in God’s eyes – and therefore, our eyes, too – every life is valuable and unique. Although twenty years may have passed, we are still looking at the future – in order to con-tinue the above mentioned and other Diakonia ministries of the ELCT, your prayers and sup-port are very much needed, and highly appreciated. During the coming Lent time, a Diakonia collection will be arranged similarly to the year before. The purple collection boxes have al-ready been distributed to various congregations. On the Diakonia Sunday of the ELCT, we would like to ask you to take a box home, and donate to those less fortunate during this 40 day period. The boxes will then be returned to the congregations for Easter worship service. Your offering will be used to help those in need in either your local congregation, or through the ministries of the LDD, according to the decision of your congregation. Lent time is a period of time for repentance, searching for God’s will in our life, and remem-bering the suffering of Christ. Traditional practices among Christians during Lent time involve prayer and fasting, although this does not encourage us to concentrate solely on our own lives. God’s Word will always lead us to recognize the needs of our neighbours, and hence, helping others according to the example of Christ has always, and will always be included in our Lent time practices

เจอกันอีกครั้งนะคะสําหรับขาวบานอิมมานูเอล คงยังไมสายเกินไปที่จะสวัสดีปใหมและสุขสันตวันวาเลนไทดวยเลยเริ่มปใหมแลวคงจะมีอะไรที่ใหมๆเกิดขึ้นในชีวิตนะคะ อะไรที่มันผานมาแลวไมเปนพระพรก็ขอใหมันผานไปเราเริ่มตนใหมกับพระเจาไดเสมอในวันนี้ บานอิมมานูเอลดําเนินงานมาเปนเวลา 17 ป โดยประมาณ มีนักเรียนที่จบการศึกษาระดับมัธยมปที่ 6 จํานวนมากและมีหลายคนที่ไดศึกษาตอระดับปริญญาตรีและมีหนาที่การงานที่ดีในปจจุบัน เชน หมอสาธารณสุข ครู อาจารย พยาบาล ผูชวยพยาบาล ฯลฯ เราขอบคุณพระเจาและตองขอขอบคุณ คุณพอปเตอร คุณแมรูธ และคุณศรีพรรณ อะโนชัย รวมถึงผูมีอุปการคุณอีกมากมาย ที่เริ่มบุกเบิกบานหลังนี้ ถึงเวลาจะผานไปเปนสิบป บานหลังนี้ก็ยังเปนความหวังของอีกหลายครอบครัว โดยเฉพาะครอบครัวที่อยูหางไกล ครอบครัวที่ยากจน ปจจุบันบานอิมมานูเอลยังดําเนินงานใหความชวยเหลือดานทุนการศึกษา ที่พักสําหรับนักเรียน เราไมไดชวยเหลือเพียงเฉพาะนักเรียนเทานั้น เรายังมีโครงการ โค-กระบือเพื่อครอบครัว โดยจัดซื้อโค-กระบือ สําหรับครอบครัวนักเรียนที่พักในบานอิมมานูเอล เปาหมายของโครงการก็เพื่อจะชวยเหลือครอบครัวนักเรียนที่จะมีอาชีพและใชเวลาที่วางจากการทํานาใหเกิดประโยชน ตอนนี้มีจํานวน 6 ครอบครัว ที่มีวัวและควายเลี้ยงแลว และยังมีอีก 18 ครอบครัว ที่ยังรอการจัดซื้อโค-กระบือ ซึ่งการจัดซื้อวัว-ควายจะซื้อเมื่อมีผูถวายเพื่อการซื้อวัวหรือควายเทานั้น ราคาตอตัวโดยประมาณ 15,000 บาท ผลประโยชนของครอบครัวที่จะไดรับคือ ลูกวัว หรือ ควาย โดยสลับกับบานอิมมานูเอล

คะโครงการนี้ยังเปนความหวังอีกหลายครอบครัวที่รอคอยอยู ถาทานใดมีภาระใจที่ตองการซื้อโค – กระบือ เพื่อใหครอบครัวนักเรียนไดเลี้ยงสามารถติดตอทั้งแผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะห หรือ บานอิมมานูเอล

นักเรียนบานอิมมานูเอลก็กําลังเตรียมตัวที่จะสอบ ปลายเดือนกุมภาพันธนี้ และการจัดหานักเรียนก็กําลังดําเนินการอยู และเรายังคงดําเนินโครงการชุมชนสัมพันธตอไปในปนี้เพราะเราเห็นถึงสิ่งที่นักเรียนไดมีโอกาสชวยเหลือผูอื่น ทําตนเองใหเกิดประโยชนในชุมชน

Greetings again from the Immanuel Home - it is probably not yet too late to wish you Happy New Year, as well as Happy Valentines Day. A new year will supposedly bring new things into our lives; hence, if our lives during the past year had included experiences not meant as blessings, one should hope to forget such events, and put them in the past. We can always have a new beginning with God. The Immanuel Home has now been carrying on its ministry work for almost 17 years, and a lot of students have graduated from the high school there during these years. Many of them have continued their studies for Bachelor degrees, and received respectable positions in society, as members such as General Practitioners, teachers, nurses, and nurse assistants. We are thankful to God, but we should not forget to show our gratitude either toward father Peter, mother Ruth, and Ms. Sriphan Anochai, as well as many donors, who helped form this ministry. Even though many years have passed, this home still remains a place of hope for many families, particularly those less fortunate, who live far away from schools or edu-cational centers. At the present, the Immanuel home is still involved in offering accommodation and grant-ing scholarships for students. In addition to supporting students, help is also expanded to reach the families of the students through the Cow and Buffalo project. Cattle are bought by the project, and are given for the families to breed. Through this, the families are em-ployed and farmers can make extra income even after farm work is finished. Six families are currently breeding cattle supplied by the project, and a further 18 families are waiting for their own cow or buffalo. These cows and buffalos can only be purchased when funded by donations to the project, as the average cost for a cow or buffalo is approximately 15 000 THB. The families share calves born to their cattle with the Immanuel hostel, so that the breeders can keep every second calf to themselves. There are still many families who have placed their hopes in this project. Therefore, if you would like to support this project, you can contact either the Lutheran Diakonia Depart-ment or the Immanuel Home – your generous donations would be highly appreciated. The students staying at the Immanuel Home are, at the moment, preparing themselves for their exams, scheduled to be taken at the end of February, although the process of enrolling new students to the Immanuel Home is also a current one. This year Immanuel Home is continuing its community service activities, as they have given students many opportunities to get involved with helping others, and using their time to benefit the local community. That which has happened in the past cannot be changed, but we can all have a new start with God every day – the Immanuel Home offers new hope to those who are enrolled, and with good reason, they can be proud to be children of the Immanuel Home. ขอบคุณพระเจาสําหรับการทรงนําของพระองคตลอด 20 ป ที่ผานไป ขอบพระคุณสําหรับทุกสิ่งที่พระองคทรงจัดเตรียม และอวยพรเจาหนาที่ทุกคนรวมทั้งผูรับบริการทุกคนที่เขามารับการชวยเหลือรวมทั้งลูกของเขาดวยจํานวนทั้งสิ้น 1, 050 คน พันธกิจบานพระคุณ เปนพันธกิจหนึ่งในหลายพันธกิจของแผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะห เปนบานที่ใหความชวยเหลือสังคมดานที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราวแกสตรีที่ประสบปญหาตั้งครรภไมพึงประสงค ทั้งกอนคลอดและหลังคลอด พรอมทั้งใหคําปรึกษาแนะนํา มากกวา 20 ป ผูเขาพักที่บานพระคุณมีอายุตั้งแต 11-45 ป มีทั้งนักเรียน นักศึกษา และผูที่ทํางาน สาเหตุที่เขาพักเนื่องจากถูกฝายชายปฏิเสธ และทั้งสองฝายยังไมพรอมที่จะมีบุตร ปจจุบันปญหาดังกลาวไมไดลดลง แตกลับทวีความรุนแรงมากขึ้น ตามที่ปรากฏทางหนาหนังสือพิมพเรามักเห็นเปนประจําที่ผูประสบปญหาแกปญหาเฉพาะหนา โดยการทอดทิ้งเด็กตามสถานที่ตางๆ รวมถึงการฆาเด็ก หรือแมกระทั่งที่ตองจบชีวิตตัวเองลงอยางนาอนาถ เพราะคนเหลานี้อาจไมทราบถึงหนวยงานที่ใหความชวยเหลือ ดังนั้นจึงเปนภาพสะทอนปญหาสังคมใหเราไดตระหนักวาเราควรจะรวมมือกันใหความชวยเหลือสังคมอยางไร หากพี่นองสมาชิกทานใดพบเห็นหรือไดรับการติดตอจากผูประสบปญหา ไดโปรดติดตอมาทางบานพระคุณ หรือแนะนําผูที่ประสบปญหาใหติดตอโดยตรงมาทางบานพระคุณไดตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง เลขหมาย 0-2759-1201, 0-2759-1238, มือถือ 086-600-5307 ระยะหลังในแตละปมีผูเขาพักประมาณ 38-52 คน (ไมรวมบุตร) ฉะนั้นหลายฝายควรใหความรวมมือและตระหนักถึงหนทางแกไขปญหาสังคมรวมกัน เพื่อใหเกิดสันติสุขในการอยูรวมกันในสังคมตอไป ดังนั้นในวันที่ 10 กุมภาพันธ 2008 นี้ เปนวันคริสเตียนสงเคราะห ทางแผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะหก็จะจัดงานวันคริสเตียนสงเคราะหขึ้นในวันที่ 9 กุมภาพันธ 2008 ณ หอประชุมสภาฯ เรียนเชิญพี่นองสมาชิกทุกทานเขารวม สวนรายละเอียด ตางๆ ทางแผนกฯ ไดประชาสัมพันธไปตามคริสตจักรตางๆ แลว บานพระคุณขอขอบคุณพี่นองทุกทาน ที่ใหความสนใจและอธิษฐานเผื่องานของบานพระคุณมาโดยตลอด เจาหนาที่ทุกคนปฏิบัติหนาที่โดยสํานึกในพระคุณของพระเจามาตลอด ขอขอบคุณที่พี่นองไดอธิษฐานเผื่อและเปนกําลังใจใหกับเรามาโดยตลอด 20 ป ที่ผานมา บานพระคุณเปนที่รูจักกับคนทั่วไป บานพระคุณไดออกรายการทีวีตามสถานีตางๆ เชน ประชาสัมพันธงานทางชอง 5 และชอง 11 และทางรายการฟาใสน้ําใจงามก็ไดเขามาถายทําสารคดีตอน “บานพระคุณ” ออกอากาศทางชอง 5 ทําใหมีผูเขาพักเปนจํานวนมาก เมื่อไมนาน ทางรายการ TV อาสา ไดติดตอเชิญเจาหนาที่ไปสัมภาษณออกรายการ TV อาสา เพื่อประชาสัมพันธงานทางชอง I T V และปที่ผานมามีนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม ภาคคณะวิชา วิทยุกระจายเสียงและวิทยุโทรทัศน คณะนิเทศนศาสตรไดเขามาทําสื่อประชาสัมพันธงานใหดวย และไดมีหนวยงานที่สนใจจากทีมงาน คณะ O M F 8 คน เขามาเยี่ยมดูงาน หลังจากนั้นไมนานก็ไดมีตัวแทนจากคณะ O M F 1 คน มาศึกษาดูงาน 1 อาทิตย กินนอนกับผูรับบริการ เพื่อหาขอมูลนําไปเปดศูนยใหความชวยเหลือผูที่ประสบปญหาตอไป นอกเหนือจากนี้ยังไดมีพี่นองชาวตางชาติสนใจมาเยี่ยมดูงานอยูอยางสม่ําเสมอ และไดมีอาสาสมัครชาวตางชาติเขามาชวยงานดานตางๆ ที่ บานพระคุณทุกๆ ปและในโอกาสนี้ จึงอยากประชาสัมพันธมายังพี่นองสมาชิกในสภาคริสตจักรลูเธอแรนของเราดวย เพื่อเปนอาสาสมัครสําแดงความรักของพระเจาตอผูประสบปญหาในสังคม ทางดานการกระทํารวมกัน ขณะนี้บานพระคุณมีผูประสบปญหาพักอยูทั้งหมด 6 คน และที่ติดตอขอเขาพักไว และยังไมเขาพักอีกจํานวนหนึ่ง กิจกรรม ที่พันธกิจบานพระคุณทําใหคําปรึกษาแนะนําผูรับบริการเปนประจําทุกอาทิตย นมัสการพระเจารวมกันเชาและเย็นทุกวัน จัดทัศนศึกษาแมและเด็กนอกสถานที่ ทุก 3 เดือน, จัดคายสําหรับผูที่เคยเขาพักไดพบปะสังสรรคกันทั้งแมและลูกของเขา และรวมมือกับผูรับใชพระเจาคริสตจักรสําโรงในการประกาศกับผูรับบริการรวมกัน นอกจากนี้เจาหนาที่ยังไดติดตอประสานงานไปยังหนวยงานที่เกี่ยวของทั้งภาครัฐ และเอกชน ในดานคารักษาพยาบาล, การยกมอบเด็ก, การฝากเลี้ยงเด็กชั่วคราว เปนตน และทั้งหมดที่เราทําเพื่อสังคมรวมกันนี้ขอเปนที่ถวายเกียรติตอพระเจาแตเพียงผูเดียวขอพระเจาอวยพรและขอพี่นองอธิษฐานเพื่อพันธกิจบานพระคุณตอไปดวย

Home of Grace is one of the ministries of the Lutheran Diakonia Department. It offers help and shelter for women, who are in difficult situations because of pregnancy. Women are allowed to stay at the Home of Grace during pregnancy and after delivery during the time they do not have any other place to go. Home of Grace has been given counseling and shel-ter for women in need already 20 years. Throughout the years as many as 1050 women and their children have received help from Home of Grace. That figure includes women from schoolgirls and students to working women, ages between 11-45 years. Every one of them has their own story. Social problems have not decreased, actually they seems to come more and more compli-cated all the time. One can read often from newspapers about abandoned children in the streets, illegal abortions and killed babies or women who have tried suicide because they do not know that there is help available. Could we work together to help people solve problems and get happiness in their life? Any-one can help: if you meet a desperate person you can contact the Home of Grace at any time of day or give the telephone number of the Home of Grace: 0-2759-1201, 0-2759-1238 or 086-600-5307. During the recent years the Home of Grace has helped 38-52 women each year. Co-operation between different partners is needed to help these women to get back to society and be able to live fulfilled life with happiness. This year the Deacony Sunday of Evangeli-cal Lutheran Church in Thailand will be held on the 10th of February. Related to this day the 20 Year Anniversary of LDD will be celebrated on Saturday 9th of February at the head quarters of ELCT. Welcome to join the activities! It is one way work together to help peo-ple in need. The Home of Grace wants to thank you all who have shown interested in our work and have been praying for it. All the staff members are committed to their work. Sincere thanks for your continuous prayers and support already for 20 years. During these years the work of the Home of Grace has become well known. The Home of Grace has been on TV and radio programs. Last year channel ITV’s “Volunteer TV”-program, which introduces organizations doing social work in Thailand, asked a staff mem-ber from Home of Grace to step in the program. After that many social workers and women in need contacted the home. Also a group of students from Sripathum University came and prepared an introduction DVD of the Home of Grace. Last year there were contacts with OMF as it is planning similar work among women. Eight persons visited Home of Grace and after that one person stayed there for a week to experi-ence everyday life. Many expatriates have volunteered themselves teaching English or mak-ing handicrafts on weekly basis, and there has been trainees working one to six months in the Home of Grace. Members of the Lutheran Church have also been welcome to volunteer themselves and show God’s love towards people who temporarily need help. At the moment there are 6 women living in the Home of Grace and one more is coming soon. Counseling, morning and evening devotions, outings, camps for women who have stayed in the Home of Grace and Bible studies are regular activities in the Home of Grace. Members of the staff co-operate with government and non-government organizations, and are ready to help women to take contact when they seek for medical advice or temporary or permanent shelter for their child. Every Sunday mothers and staff attend to a worship service in Sam-rong congregation. The main goal of this ministry is to make the society a better place to live for all its citizens. We ask for God’s blessing and your continuous prayers for the Home of Grace.

กิรซิ ซัลเมลา มีช่ือโดยกําเนิดวา กิรซิ เอลินะ ซัลเมลา เกิดวันที่ 26 ตุลาคม 1977 ในเมืองนูระมิยาระวิ

และเขาศึกษาในมหาวิทยาลัย Diakonia University of applied sciences ใกลๆ เมืองเฮลซิงกิ ประเทศ

ฟนแลนด ทําใหเธอมีความรูงานดานอนุชนและดานคริสเตียนสงเคราะห เธอเคยทํางานเปนผูนําอนุชนในคริสตจักรนาน 3 ป ในวัย 7 ป กิรซิได ไปชมการแสดงละครเวทีกับครอบครัวช่ือเรื่อง “ไลทกิต” ซึ่งแปลวา “เปลวไฟ” ละครไดนําเสนอชีวิตของมิชชันนารี ที่มีโอกาสและไมมีโอกาสไปเปนมิชชันนารี ครั้นเมื่อดูละครจบ เธอไดบอกวาอยากใหพอแมไปเปนมิชชันนารีบาง แตพอแมไมไดตอบอะไร ทําใหเธอตั้งใจและเกิดความใฝฝนตั้งแตยังเล็กวาอยากเปนมิชชันนารี ในวัย15 ป เธอไดรวมคายยืนยันความเชื่อ ของมิชชันฟนแลนดจัดขึ้น ในคายนั้นมีโอกาสพบกับมิชชันนารีหลายคนตางก็ไดเลาเรื่องราวชีวิตการเปนมิชชันนารีในประเทศตางๆ ทําใหรูสึกประทับใจชีวิตของมิชชันนารีมาก ใฝฝนวาเมื่อโตขึ้นอยากจะเปนมิชชันนารีดวย จนกระทั่งเมื่อเธอเรียนจบ เธอจึงไดติดตอสอบถามไปที่สํานักงานมิชชันฟนแลนดวามีงานอะไรสําหรับเธอบาง? เจาหนาที่ไดบอกวา มีอยู 3 ประเทศคือ ประเทศไตหวัน ประเทศไทยและประเทศเซเนกัล ในป 2004 เธอตัดสินใจเลือกมาเปนมิชชันนารีในประเทศไทย ทําใหตองเริ่มเตรียมตัวศึกษาเกี่ยวกับประเทศไทย ไปอบรมการเปนมิชชันนารี 5 เดือนและไปเรียนภาษาอังกฤษที่ประเทศอังกฤษนาน 5 เดือน นอกจากนั้นยังไดรับคําแนะนําจากมิชชันนารีหลายทานที่เคยทํางานในประเทศไทย เชน อ.กิกา อ.อันเนลี อ.อนัยา แตก็เขาใจประเทศไทยเพียงเล็กนอยเทานั้น ป 2006 เปนครั้งแรกที่กิรซิ เดินทางมาประเทศไทย เริ่มเรียนภาษาไทยโดยใชเวลาเรียน 1 ปกับ 6 เดือน จนไดสอบเทียบเทา ป.6 เธอเลาวาเมื่อเริ่มเรียนภาษาไทย รูสึกวามันยากมาก เพราะตัวอักษรพยัญชนะไมเหมือนภาษาของเธอ แตเมื่อเรียนไปสักระยะหนึ่ง ก็เริ่มสนุกและหาโอกาสพูดคุยกับคนไทยอยูเรื่อยๆ ภูมิใจที่สามารถพูดไทยได ตอนนี้เรียนจบแลวรูสึกวาความยากลําบากไดผานไปแลวและไดเวลาสนุกกับการทํางานซะที มกราคมป 2008 เธอไดเริ่มงานที่พันธกิจพัฒนาครอบครัว ภาระหนาที่ความรับผิดชอบเปนงานแปลจดหมาย แปลประวัติเด็กทุน ออกเยี่ยมเยียน ระยะเวลาการเรียนภาษาไทยเพียง 1 ป 6 เดือนอาจจะดูนอยไป คงไมสามารถเขาใจทุกๆ ถอยคําไทยได เธอเลาวา การทํางานเปนทีมสนุกกวาทํางานคนเดียว เวลาไมเขาใจอะไรแลวชวยเหลือกันได ดวยประสบการณในการทํางานกับเด็กและเยาวชนที่ประเทศฟนแลนดมากอน คงจะเปนประโยชนตอการสรางสรรคกิจกรรมตางๆ สําหรับสภาฯ โดยเฉพาะการจัดคายเด็กและเยาวชน เธอมีความรูและมีความเขาใจเปนพิเศษ ชีวิตสวนตัวของเธอ เวลาวางชอบวายน้ํา ดูหนังและฝกเลนกีตาร นอกจากนั้นยังช่ืนชอบอาหารไทยเปนพิเศษ เชน ตมยํากุง และอีกหลายอยางที่ชอบทานแตไมทราบชื่อวาอะไร เธอรูสึกยินดีมากที่มีโอกาสมารวมงานกับผูรวมงานของสภาฯ พระเจาทรงยิ่งใหญกวาสิ่งที่เราคิดและวางแผนไว พระองคทรงยิ่งใหญและมีแผนการไวสําหรับเราแตละคน เรายังมีความจํากัดในหลายสิ่ง แตพระเจาทรงมีหนทางตางๆ มากมายกวาเรา

Kirsi Elina Salmela was born 26th October 1977 in Nurmijärvi, Finland. She studied at Diaconia University of Applied Sciences near Helsinki in a small city called Kauniai-nen. She has a Bachelor Degree of Social Services and she also has the qualification to work as a church youth leader. After graduation, she worked for three years as a church youth leader in a congregation of Kemijärvi in Finland. At the age of seven, she saw a musical called “Liekit” (eng. Flames). That musical talks about a possibility to go and work as a missionary. After seeing the musical, she said to her parents: “We should go for missionary work”. Her parents didn’t think the same way. That was the beginning of Kirsi’s dream of becoming a missionary. At the age of fifteen, she went to the FELM (The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mis-sion) confirmation school camp. There she had many opportunities to hear and talk with the missionaries and the missionary children who had been living in different countries. It was then when Kirsi started to consider seriously that maybe some day she would like to be a missionary. In 2004 after having worked for two years in the congregation, she contacted FELM and asked if there would be a foreign country where she could serve with her skills and training. FELM gave her three choices: Taiwan, Thailand and Senegal. After studying the brochure which tells about these countries, she decided that Thailand would be the best place for her. And after that she started to read all she could about Thailand. In spring 2005 she was in missionary training in Helsinki for five months. After that she went to England to a language school to learn English. Within this time she had many opportunities to talk with former Thailand missionaries such as Kirsti Kosonen, Anneli Könni and Anja Markkanen. But still when she arrived in Thailand she didn’t know so much about the country. Kirsi arrived in Thailand the first time in 2006. First she had to learn Thai language and culture for one and half year. On December 2007 she made a so called P.6 test. In her opinion learning Thai language was hard but nice. Learning the new alphabet was especially hard. All the time when she was studying, she also tried to use all she had learned in conversation with Thai people. Kirsi started to work in the Family Development Project in January 2008. Her work is to translate the sponsored children’s (Thai-Finnish) and the sponsors’ (Finnish-Thai) letters to each other, translate the children’s family history to the sponsor and visit the children. Doing this kind of job, her language studies seem to be too short. She feels that her vocabulary is too limited. That’s why she has to use a dictionary almost every day and ask for her colleagues’ help quite often. That makes her feel that working in a team is nice because when you can’t understand you can ask the others to explain. Kirsi has worked a lot with children and young people in Finland and therefore she has a lot of knowledge to share, especially about organizing children’s and youth camps. She is very happy to start working with her colleagues in the Diaconia Department. On her free time Kirsi likes swimming, reading books (Finnish and English), watching movies and practicing playing the guitar. She likes Thai food a lot, for example Tom Yam Kung and many others of which she doesn’t know or remember the name yet. God is greater than our thoughts and He has more possibilities than we can imagine.

ในป 1987 การประชุมสมัชชาใหญของมิชช่ันลูเธอรแรน (LMT) ตัดสินใจที่จะมีแผนก คริสเตียนสงเคราะห ซึ่งดิฉันไดรับมอบหมายใหไปสํารวจวาจะตองทําอะไรบาง และตองติดตอกับใครบาง การตัดสินใจครั้งนี้ของการประชุมสมัชชาใหญฯ ไดรวมไปถึงความคิดที่จะมีหอพักขนาดเล็กดวย จากเดือนกรกฎาคมถึงพฤศจิกายน ก็มีความชัดเจนออกมาวา ทางแผนกฯ จะเริ่มงานชวยเหลือแมที่ตองเผชิญชะตากรรมตามลําพังกอน และนั่นเปนกาวแรกของงานแผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะห

ผูสูงอายุเปนกลุมที่เราใหความสนใจกอนแมที่ตองมีชีวิตอยางโดดเดี่ยว แตที่พักที่มีอยูคงชวยไดไมก่ีคนนัก และอีกอยางหนึ่ง บุคลากรและจํานวนเงินที่เราพอมีอยูตอนนั้นก็จํากัดเกินกวาที่จะทําอะไรได หากพิจารณาตามทรัพยากรที่เรามีอยู ยี่สิบปตอมาดิฉันยังเห็นดวยที่จะชวยเหลือผูสูงอายุโดยวิธีอื่น แทนที่จะสรางบานพัก ในปจจุบันนี้พันธกิจผูสูงอายุเปนที่ยอมรับในคริสตจักรของเรา และเปนไปตามนโยบายของรัฐบาล

ดิฉันใชเวลาสวนใหญใน 2-3 เดือนแรก ทําการสํารวจดวยตัวเอง แตดวยการประสานงานกับ คริสตจักรของมิชช่ันลูเธอรแรน ( LMT ) ของเรา และปรึกษากับคณะกรรมการบริหาร (EC) ของมิชช่ันลูเธอรแรน (LMT) ในทันทีที่มีการตัดสินใจวาจะสํารวจความเปนไปไดลึกลงไปถึงการทํางานกับแมที่ตองเผชิญโชคชะตาตามลําพัง ดิฉันก็ได คุณสุดใจ นาคเพียร เปนผูรวมงานคนไทยมาชวยงาน โดยเธอเริ่มเขามาเปนอาสาสมัครกอนในเดือนแรก และจากวันที่ 1 ธันวาคม เปนตนมา เธอเขามาเปนผูรวมงานของมิชช่ันลูเธอรแรน (LMT) ในตําแหนงหัวหนาของบานพระคุณ

เมื่อดิฉันเริ่มงานดานคริสเตียนสงเคราะหในมิชช่ันลูเธอรแรน (LMT) ดิฉันอึดอัดใจนิดหนอยเมื่อคิดถึงทัศนคติของคนสวนใหญที่เขาใจวา แผนกฯ นี้กําลัง “หวาน” เงิน อันที่จริงนับเปนโอกาสที่ไดสอนคนจะไดเรียนรูวา งานคริสเตียนสงเคราะหที่แทจริงนั้นเปนอยางไร และโชคดีวาทัศนคติดังกลาวนั้นไดเริ่มเปลี่ยนไป และเปลี่ยนไปมากทีเดียว การรวมงานและการหารือกัน ในเรื่องงานคริสเตียนสงเคราะห ความตองการที่แทจริงของผูคน และจะทําอยางไรกับสิ่งเหลานี้ (ทั้ง ๆ ที่ยังไมมีเงิน) ทําใหเราไดรับความช่ืนชมยินดีอยางแทจริง

ถือเปนเรื่องทาทายอยางยิ่ง ที่จะเริ่มทําอะไรที่คุณไมเคยทํามากอน การทํางานเปนทีม แลวไดแบงปนภาระหนาที่และความชื่นชมยินดีแกกันและกัน การไดอธิษฐาน สรรเสริญพระเจาดวยกัน ทําใหเราไดรับพลังและนิมิตใหมในการกาวเดินไปขางหนาดวยกัน ไมนานนัก เราก็ไดเห็นถึงความขัดสนของครอบครัวยากจนที่ไมสามารถสงลูกหลานไปโรงเรียนได ซึ่งความจําเปนเรงดวนนี้ ไดทําใหทางแผนกฯ ต้ังโครงการทุนการศึกษาขึ้น

แผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะหฯตั้งขึ้นเพื่อดําเนินงานดานคริสเตียนสงเคราะหของมิชช่ันลูเธอรแรน (LMT) เนื่องจากงานดานคริสเตียนสงเคราะหฯนี้ไดดําเนินมาแลวอยางตอเนื่อง ทั้งในงานมิชชัน ทั้งในและนอกคริสตจักร ต้ังแตป 1985 เปนตนมา กิจกรรมดานคริสเตียนสงเคราะหฯ หลากหลายรูปแบบไดเริ่มตนและดําเนินตอเนื่องกันมาในจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี ตอมาก็ไดมีการจัดตั้งคณะกรรมาธิการแผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะห เพื่อประสานงานอยางใกลชิด และมีหลักการใกลเคียงกันทั้งในอุบลและกรุงเทพฯ

พรอมกันนี้ ดิฉันขอเรียนใหทราบวา แผนกคริสเตียนสงเคราะหไดประสานงานอยางใกลชิดกับคริสตจักรมาตั้งแตเริ่มตนแลว ความชวยเหลือที่เราใหนั้น ไดใหผานทางคริสตจักรและไดรวมมือกับผูรวมงานในคริสตจักร ไมมีโครงการใดเลยที่เริ่มตนโดยไมไดปรึกษากับทางคริสตจักรกอน

In 1987 the GA of the LMT decided to establish the Diakonia Department. I was nomi-nated to survey what to do and with whom. The GA decision included the idea to start a small-scale dormitory. Between July and November it seemed very clear that the depart-ment must start work among lonely mothers as the first step. Aged citizens were in focus before lonely mothers. The dormitory for them was unlikely to help many and on the other hand the personnel and monetary needs were far above our limits. Twenty years later I still agree that lots of needy old people can be helped sufficiently by other means than in a small institution considering our resources. And the present work among them has been very well accepted in the congregations and goes along the line the Government is favor of. Two-three months I mainly did the survey by myself but in contact with our LMT con-gregations and consultation with the EC of the LMT. As soon as it was decided to sur-vey more deeply possibilities to start work among lonely mothers I got a Thai colleague Sudchai Nakphien. The first month she worked on voluntary basis and from the 1st of December a co-worker in the LMT on the position of the leader of the Home of Grace. When I first started to work on diakonia field in LMT I was little annoied about the atti-tude of many people who just expected that the department is "sowing" money. Actually it gave instant opportunity to educate people about the real nature of diakonia. And for-tunately the attitude started to change and changed a lot. The co-operation and discus-sions about the diakonia, real needs of people and how to act (even without money) gave real joy. It was and always is very challenging to start something that you haven’t done before. Working in the team burden and joy are shared. Praying and praising God together gives also strength and new vision to go ahead. Quite soon we also were drawn to see the needs of poor families who are not able to give education to their children. Gradually it led the department to start scholarship pro-gram. Diakonia Department was established in order to organize the social work of the LMT. Diakonia work had and has been done all the time in the Mission, in the Church and in the parishes. Already from 1985 various diakonia activities had been started in Ubon province. Later the Board of the Diakonia Department was established to have closer connection and similar principles in Ubon and Bangkok units. Here I want to note also that the department has been working in close connection with the congregations from the very beginning. The help is given through and with the co-workers in the congregations. None of the projects have been started without consulting one or more congregations. Anneli Könni 29.1.2008

Mrs. Kirsi Mikkola, the leader of the Aids Support Center, recalls the Worls AIDS Day event arranged on 1st December 2007 at Nong Mai community in Khlong Toey district in Bangkok. She reveals that children found one of the activities especially interesting and tempting. The chil-dren were allowed to make their handprints on white fabric. This activity had an important and positive meaning, as the children were led to commit themselves to show acceptance, not prejudice against peo-ple infected with HIV. While printing their hands on the white fabric the children made a promise to use their hands for healing, not for hurting those infected with HIV. The children were encouraged to help and show acceptance towards people living with HIV/AIDS , not to look down, verbally abuse, or reject them. HIV-positive people, as we all, have the right to be treated with dignity.
