As an anthropologist my primary interests include heritage and museum studies, cultural landscapes, urban culture and cultural policies. These have been the areas of my teaching in Istanbul in the last 10 years before moving to Victoria in 2015. I value the combination of academic research with professional work. So have I volunteered and worked in and for museums in New York, Amsterdam and Turkey. I conducted projects on local history and visualization of heritage for museums, exhibition-making and mapping of heritage and cultural resources in different cities in Turkey. My current research is in Troy, Çanakkale, Turkey and centers on cultural landscape, sense of place and meaning in World Heritage Sites..
