新渡輪傑出員工―鄭觀容水手First Ferry Outstanding Award Winner, Sailor Cheng Koon Yung

今期《同渡每一天》邀請了2010/11年度「新渡輪傑出員工大獎」得主鄭

觀容水手，與讀者介紹他的工作及分享工作生活的點滴。

水手的工作看似簡單，但拋擲纜索並繫緊在繫纜柱以保持船隻穩固及減

低渡輪損傷既責任重大，亦需要一定力氣及技巧。鄭觀容表示：「秘訣在於

需熟悉各種拉纜技巧，才會減低斷纜的機會。」遇上惡劣天氣或颱風來襲，

工作更具挑戰性。「公司宣佈停航時，船員需盡快將渡輪駛回避風塘，而我

則需要用特製的纜索固定船身及檢查船上各項設備是否操作正常，並且留守

船上當值，等候通知復航安排。」

「自己做好本份，並恆常保持認真工作的態度，自然會得到他人的認

同。」鄭氏多年來對工作充滿熱誠，更毫不吝嗇向新入職同事分享工作技

巧，深得上司及同事信賴。他出色的工作表現既獲管理層的認同及讚賞，而

熱心助人的性格更拯救了一位乘客寶貴的生命。他入行初期，在船上遇到一

位乘客跳海自盡，他即時通知船長及下海救人，其後更得到海事處頒發感謝

狀嘉許。成為「傑出員工」，鄭氏乃實至名歸。

In this issue, Mr. Cheng Koon Yung, winner of “2010/11 Outstanding Staff Award” shares his story and thoughts about his career with us.

Is a sailor’s job simple and boring? “Of course not!” Mr. Cheng explained. “Sailors need to be trained in special techniques and to be familiar with different mooring skills. This applied especially for mooring vessels alongside the pier smoothly without breaking the ropes, and securing the ropes carefully to lower the chances of the ferry being damaged. The job is even more challenging during bad weather conditions or typhoons. When local ferry services are suspended,

the crew is required to sail the vessel back to the typhoon shelter, where the sailor has to use special ropes to moor the vessel securely, then stay on board to check that all equipment is in good condition, and remain on stand-by until the resumption of ferry services.”

Through the years, Mr. Cheng’s hard-working attitude has gained the trust and appreciation of his fellow crew and First Ferry management. His commitment and enthusiasm also saved a precious life. In early years, he observed a passenger attempting to commit suicide by jumping into the sea. After alerting the coxswain, without a second thought, Mr. Cheng dived into the sea to rescue the passenger. The Marine Department subsequently presented commendations to him in recognition of his bravery. Mr. Cheng is an outstanding staff who truly deserved to receive the Award!

鄭觀容現為「新超號」水手，加入新渡輪前已服務於其他渡輪公司，工作年資逾20年，經驗豐富。

Cheng started his career as a sailor prior to joining First Ferry over 20 years ago. Currently, he is stationed on ferry “Xin Chao”.

鄭氏的日常工作包括在航行前檢查船上設備，協助拉纜和疏導乘客上落渡輪，以及在渡輪航行時照顧乘客安全。

His daily job duties include checking ferry equipment and facilities, securing the mooring ropes when the ferry berths, helping passengers to embark and disembark from the vessel, and monitoring passenger safety during the journey.

今年年初，鄭觀容獲新渡輪董事兼總經理蔡柏榮(右)頒發「新渡輪傑出員工大獎」予以鼓勵。

Over the years, First Ferry has not only participated in various community and charity activities, but also dedicated itself to environmental protection and staff development. This year, for the eighth consecutive year, First Ferry has been awarded the “Caring Company” logo by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (“HKCSS”), together with New World Group and some 20 subsidiaries

which have earned the accolade of “Caring Company” on many previous occasions. NWS Holdings was also honoured with the “10 Consecutive Years Caring Company” logo by the HKCSS, to add to the Total Caring Award received in 2008-09, and the Outstanding Partnership Project Award received in 2007-08.

新渡輪港外線乘客轉乘港鐵享折扣優惠Outlying-island passengers now enjoy interchange discount on MTR journeys

由現在至2013年1月1日，乘客持成人八達通在長洲碼頭或梅窩碼頭內設置的「港鐵轉乘優惠

站」拍卡確認後，於同一日內乘坐新渡輪前往中環並在港鐵香港站或中環站入閘轉乘港鐵 (不包括機

場快綫及機場快綫的免費港鐵接駁服務)，即可享港幣1.5元轉乘優惠。

From now until 1 January 2013, passengers validating their Octopus at the Interchange Discount Kiosk at the Cheung Chau and Mui Wo piers prior to taking the First Ferry outlying-island ferry service to Central, can enjoy a $1.5 discount off their fare on the MTR network from Hong Kong / Central Station to any MTR destination (except Airport Express and the Free MTR Connections offered by the Airport Express) at anytime on the same day.

禮2012」於今年4月20日圓滿結束，新創建集團管理層與獲獎員工及家屬一

同出席頒獎典禮分享喜悅。大會除頒發九個「傑出員工大獎」嘉許集團不

同級別的員工外，今年更新增設「創意大獎」，從多個候選項目中挑選三

個獲獎項目，以表揚參與團隊的創意思維。為切合大會主題，兩個獎項的12個候選單位分別以生動有趣的短片及話

劇介紹其工作崗位及項目內容，盡顯集團員工創意無限。

In the presence of NWS Group management, awardees and their family members, the NWS Awards Presentation Ceremony was staged amid happiness and laughter on 20 April 2012.

Themed as "Creativity for Excellence", the awards presentation ceremony not only recognized the excellent achievements of nine recipients of the Outstanding Employee Grand Award, but also the creativity of three winning teams in the newly launched NWS Innovation Awards. Altogether 12 nominees for the two awards displayed their talents by acting in the interesting videos and dramas which introduced their job duties and innovative ideas to other staff members.

中法水務獲武漢化工園區供水合同Sino French Water provides integrated industrial water services to Wuhan Chemical Industry Park

日前，在新世界集團執行董事兼聯席總經理鄭志剛帶領下，

推出全新企業核心價值「UNITI」*，並與30位來自不同公司的

員工代表主持首場「UNITI工作坊」(右圖)，強調重創新、求

進步的企業文化。工作坊設置多個創意攤位，透過繪畫、音

樂及攝影等元素，旨在激發員工的創新思維，共吸引超過

100位來自集團不同公司的員工參與。

To strengthen its corporate culture, New World Group (NWD) has launched its brand new set of core values "UNITI"*. In May, Adrian Cheng, Executive Director and Joint General Manager of NWD and over 30 staff members from different Group companies officiated at the first "UNITI Workshop" (upper photo). Over 100 staff members participated in the workshop where a variety of creative classes enabled them to acquire multimedia skills as well as develop creative ideas to help spread the concept of "UNITI".

新創建集團透過其聯營公司中法水務，在今年5月7日與武漢化工園區簽訂30年的供水合同。連同早前的合作協

定，中法水務將獨家為園區提供全方位的供水和污水處理服務。根據協定，武漢中法將負責設計、建造和管理日處

理量達30萬噸的水處理廠及取水工程和配水管網系統，為武漢化工園區工商客戶提供工業生產用水和居民生活用

水。獲武漢中法投資2.4億元人民幣的第一期建設工程，將馬上啟動。

On 7 May 2012, NWS Holdings, through its joint venture Sino French Water, signed a 30-year contract to provide water-treatment services to Wuhan Chemical Industry Park (WCIP). With previous agreements, Sino French Water is now the exclusive provider of integrated water and wastewater services to clients in WCIP.

Wuhan Sino French will be responsible for the design, construction and operation of advanced facilities treating up to 300,000m3 per day, as well as of other corresponding infrastructure and services for WCIP's industrial and residential clients. Wuhan Sino French will begin the construction of Phase One of the project immediately with an investment of RMB240 million.

新渡輪對推廣本地特色節慶活動一直不遺餘力，其中長洲太平清醮盛會更為新渡輪多年來鼎力支持的活動。早前，新渡輪便在長洲碼頭內，展出由康樂文化事務署及長洲太平清醮值理會合辦的「包山嘉年華2012」幼稚園學童填色

比賽及小學學童繪畫比賽的優勝作品，讓市民大眾透過同學們的作品對太平清醮有多方面的認識。

First Ferry is dedicated to promoting traditional festivals in Hong Kong, especially the Bun Festival which is now a world-renowned cultural celebration. To enhance public awareness of different perspectives of the Bun Festival, First Ferry displayed the winning entries in the Student Colouring and Drawing Competitions for the “2012 Bun Carnival” at Cheung Chau Pier. The competition was co-organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Hong Kong Cheung Chau Bun Festival Committee.

新渡輪參與「攀爬嘉年華 2012 － 攀包山接力邀請賽」First Ferry joins “Climbing Carnival 2012 – Invitation Relay”

2012年4月，新渡輪七位健兒參與在長洲北帝廟遊樂場舉行的「攀爬嘉年華2012－攀包山接力邀請賽」。新渡輪代表與其他七組來自工商界、政府及學界的代表隊伍經過一番激烈較量後，最終在賽事中獲得第五名，發揮了全情投入的團隊精神。

In April 2012, seven First Ferry staff members teamed up to enter the “Climbing Carnival 2012 – Invitation Relay” held at Cheung Chau Pak Tai Temple Playground. The First Ferry team encountered fierce competition from many teams coming from commercial and industrial organizations, local education institutions and government departments. Finally, the First Ferry team ranked a creditable fifth place.

Peng Chau, a small yet beautiful island, has attracted many tourists keen to explore its natural scenery and traditional sightseeing spots.
