Welcome

Reading: John Ch 19 v 38 – 42

THE GOOD NEWS!

Leader: For this is the good News

Jesus Christ has risen again,

the Tomb is empty!

So on this most holy of days,

We remember that the One whom

fear sought to destroy,

Jesus Christ, has risen triumphant from the tomb!

Come, let us rejoice: Alleluia!

All: Alleluia, Jesus died and rose again, He is alive!

Praise: CH4 411: Christ the Lord is risen today

(whilst this is being sung children look for the white empty cross)

‘Christ the Lord is risen today’,

all on earth and angels say;

raise your joys and triumphs high;

sing, ye heavens, and earth reply.

Love’s redeeming work is done,

fought the fight, the battle won;

lo! our Sun’s eclipse is o’er;

lo! he sets in blood no more.

Vain the stone, the watch, the seal;

Christ has burst the gates of hell:

death in vain forbids his rise;

Christ has opened Paradise.

Lives again our glorious King;

Once he died, our souls to save;

where thy victory, O grave?

Page 3: Easter Morning Service

Soar we now where Christ has led,

following our exalted Head;

made like him, like him we rise;

ours the cross, the grave, the skies.

Hail, the Lord of earth and heaven!

Praise to thee by both be given;

thee we greet triumphant now;

hail, the Resurrection thou!

(After the empty cross is placed into the tub of Certain Hope we all say

together:

We remember that before we were born Jesus Christ died for us and

healed the broken relationship between ourselves and God.)

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Reading: John Ch 20 v 14 – 16

A Thought!

(As the red cross is placed into a pot we all say together:

Jesus shows us the depth of the well of love that lies at the very heart

of God. We are forgiven! All people can be restored to a healthy

relationship with God, if we trust and believe.)

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Praise: CH4 405: We sing the praise of Him who died

(the children look for the green cross)

We sing the praise of him who died,

of him who died upon the cross;

the sinner’s hope though all deride -

for this we count the world but loss.

Inscribed upon the cross we see

Page 4: Easter Morning Service

in shining letter, ‘God is love’;

he bears our sins upon the tree;

he brings us mercy from above.

The cross! It takes our guilt away;

it holds the fainting spirit up;

it cheers with hope the gloomy day,

and sweetens every bitter cup;

It makes the coward spirit brave,

and nerves the feeble arm for fight;

it takes its terror from the grave,

and gilds the bed of death with light;

The balm of life, the cure of woe,

the measure and the pledge of love,

the sinner’s refuge here below,

the angels’ theme in heaven above.

A RESURRECTED LIFE!

The green seeds of God

Praise: MP 295: I serve a risen Saviour (He lives, He lives)

(the children look for the multi coloured crosses)

I serve a risen Saviour,

He’s in the world today;

I know that He is living,

whatever men may say.

I see His hand of mercy,

I hear His voice of cheer;

and just the time I need Him,

He’s always near.

He lives, He lives,

Christ Jesus lives today!

Page 5: Easter Morning Service

He walks with me and talks with me

along life’s narrow way.

He lives, He lives,

salvation to impart!

You ask me how I know He lives?

He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me

I see His loving care,

and though my heart grows weary

I never will despair;

I know that He is leading,

through all the stormy blast,

the day of His appearing

will come at last.

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christians,

lift up your voice and sing

eternal hallelujahs

to Jesus Christ the King!

The hope of all who seek Him,

The help of all who find,

none other is so loving,

so good and kind.
