EASTER ENERGY On Easter morning when the disciples saw the evidence of the Resurrection, they did not at first grasp it. John reports that “they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.” We, on the other hand, have both scripture and church tradition to teach us. Jesus Christ’s resurrection is at the core of our Christian faith. All of today’s readings tell us how compelling this event was for the first Christians. There is great energy in all the readings. Peter preaches with authority and conviction. Paul calls for Christians to change their lives. In the Gospel reading we see Peter and John in a footrace to reach Jesus’ tomb and see with their own eyes the evidence that they still could not understand or completely believe. How can some of this Easter energy be restored to us today? Do we let the astonishing news of the Resurrection touch us now? Does it call us to action? To deeper faith? To conversion? What new life will be reborn in us and our parish community this Easter morning? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Divine Mercy Sunday

Divine Mercy Sunday is the culmination of the Novena to the Divine Mercy of Jesus, a devotion given to St. Faustina and is based upon entry in her diary stating that anyone

who participates in the Mass and receives the Sacraments of Confession and the Eucharist on this day is assured by

Jesus of full remission of their sins.

There are three requirements to receive the full benefits of the promises of Divine Mercy

Go to Confession ~ for up to 20 days, before or after Divine Mercy Sunday.

Receive the Eucharist on Divine Mercy Sunday. Veneration of the Image of Divine Mercy and specifically

ask for the graces attributed to Divine Mercy.

Procession of the Divine Mercy Image will be during the 11:30am Mass on Sunday, March 7th.

Veneration of the Image will be immediately following Mass.

Everyone is called to Adore Our Lord this Easter Season

It’s the beauty of simplicity that brings me down to my knees. I’ll praise you for all eternity.

And, Lord I love you because You, You first loved me… I’ve tasted your divinity and Lord, I love you… You gave yourself away, just that I could stay.

Your took my place in death and rose that I could say, That You are Holy and You alone deserve my praise.

We love you Lord. (lyrics from ‘The Beauty of Simplicity’)

Blessed Mother Theresa reminds us, “When you look at the crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you. When you look at the Sacred Host you understand how much Jesus loves you now. This is why we need Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in every Parish throughout the entire world. Jesus has made Himself the Bread of Life to give us life. Night and day, He is there. If you really want to grow in love, come back to the Eucharist, come back to that Adoration.”

Everyone should have a ‘Holy Hour’ with Jesus. If you don’t, please call us! Jesus is waiting for you. We are blessed to have Perpetual Adoration, but we need everyone to spend an hour with Jesus, so He is never alone.

Adorers are needed for: Sun 12am,1am, 2am, 4am & 11am ; Tues 12am Wed 12am, 2am, 3am & 10am ; Thurs 1pm ; Fri 2am, 3am & 7pm ; Sat 2pm & 7pm

If you would like to become a regular adorer or

substitute please e-mail us at [email protected]

The True Meaning of Easter

Archbishop Fulton Sheen

Archbishop Sheen was one of the best-known and best-loved Catholic orators of the twentieth century, reaching millions of Christians of all denominations.

Presented here are his timeless reflections on the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord, combined with Scripture and Gregorian Chant to create a powerful

presentation that is sure to become a family favorite.

“The combination of scripture and commentary really brings the story to life! This provided an excellent time of devotion for me this Holy

Week.” Don - Dallas, TX

Please stop by the Lighthouse kiosk in the back of the Church for more titles. Your donation of $3 for each CD will help maintain this

ministry and enable us to continue to bring new titles. These inspirational and educational CDs will inspire you to fall in love

more and more with Jesus and His Church.

FEATURED CD OF THE WEEK

Thank You Mrs. O’Conner and Mr. Pastore for your service to our Parish Family!

After many months of prayer and discernment Mrs. Susan O’Conner (St. Anastasia’s DRE) has decided to respond to the Lord’s irresistible invitation, to dedicate more time to her husband and family during those important formative years in the lives of her children. Mrs. O’Conner has served the St. A’s Church and School families as the Director of Religious Education (DRE) for the past eight years. Mrs. O’Conner has made a substantial difference in the lives of hundreds of souls, families and marriages within our community and we are proud of you. Mrs. O’Conner, transitions out of the DRE position at the end of June 2013. Thank you for teaching and passing on the true faith, without compromise and showing us the benefits of a prayerful life and the joy of placing complete trust in the Lord. You will be greatly missed but we look forward to your continued friendship and companionship, as you stay in the parish and continue to grow with our community.

Mr. Kevin Pastore, St. Anastasia’s Director of Youth Ministry has also been in deep prayer and discernment these past few months. Mr. Pastore has come to a decision to pursue a different career opportunity and transition out of Youth Ministry at the end of June 2013. Within the short time Mr. Pastore has been with St. Anastasia, he has made a difference in the lives of many of our young students (both in Middle and High School). Mr. Pastore has touched the lives and gained the confidence of many of our youth and families in a very short time. Mr. Pastore, know our prayers are with you, as you complete your transition into your new career in June. We look forward to your continued friendship, as you stay in the parish and continue to grow with our community.

Please keep St. A’s Parish in your prayers, as we seek to fill the Director of Religious Education and the Director of Youth Ministry Positions. If you or someone you know is interested in applying for these positions, please send your resume to the Parish Office or Email the Office Manager at [email protected]

Pope Francis, as Cardinal Bergoglio, referred to abortion and communion, saying “we should commit ourselves to ‘eucharistic coherence’, that is, we should be conscious that people cannot receive holy communion and at the same time act or speak against the commandments, in particular, when abortion, euthanasia, and other serious crimes against life and family are facilitated. This responsibility applies particularly to legislators, governors, and health professionals.”

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SERVE YOUR CHURCH?

St. Anastasia is in need of a large number of additional Extraordinary Ministers of The Eucharist

(EME) for our weekend liturgies. We are also in need of some additional Lectors to proclaim the Scriptures at those

same liturgies. The training is easy and the only requirements are that you be a member of the Parish and have been Baptized and Confirmed and be current in your Sacraments. This is an excellent opportunity to help serve

your Parish and fellow parishioners.

Please contact Ronda or Mike Morse at 464-1703 or call the Rectory at 461-2233 to have them

forward your info to us!

Children’s Liturgy

Children ages 4-6 years old are invited to join our Children’s Liturgy on Sundays at the 9:30 Mass. We have qualified teachers who bring the gospel message to their level. The children receive a blessing at Mass, are taken to a classroom for the Liturgy of the Word, and then return for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Parents please help us with only allowing Middle and High School age teens to volunteer with us. Although we appreciate everyone’s willingness to help, we need those preparing for First Communion 2nd through 5th grade to stay in church and experience the full Mass. Thank-you!

If you have any questions, please call Linda Schildwachter 971-6419

Children’s Liturgy will be closed on Easter Sunday.

Children’s Nursery

O’ God, who in your providential design, willed that your Church be built

upon blessed Peter, whom you set over the other Apostles,

look with favor, we pray, on Francis, our Pope and grant that he, whom you have made Peter’s successor,

a visible source and foundation of unity in faith and communion.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

St. Anastasia Catholic School Holy Week Presentations

The Knights of Columbus would like to thank everyone who came to our breakfast at the parish center on Sunday, March 17th. I hoped that everyone enjoyed it and apologize for running out of a couple things at the end. This was our first breakfast and we will be better prepared next time. Thank you again for making this event a success.

God bless you and your families. Julius Dunajewski
