CONSTRUCCIÓN DEL CONOCIMIENTO.

THE FIRST CONDITIONAL

no.

IF + SUJ + VERB + COMPLEMENT /// SUJ + WILL+ VERB+ COMPLEMENT

Ex: If Alice works hard, she will pass the test

If you play with matches, you will burn your fingers

Ex: If she likes the dress, she will buy it

Ex: If you go to Rome, you might visit the Coliseum

If you need my help, call me!

If you press this

button, the door will

open.

CONSTRUCCIÓN DEL CONOCIMIENTO.

Presente Simple - (Simple Present Tense)

I play tennis. Yo juego al tenis.

Page 13: EDUCACIÓN BÁSICA SECUNDARIA - WordPress.com · UNIDAD DIDÁCTICA 3: “IF I WERE” LOGRO: Reconoce la diferencia entre eventos reales e irreales y utiliza la estructura lingüística

13

He works in an office.

They travel to Madrid.

verbal:

Affirmative Negative Interrogative

I play I don't go Do I play ?

You play You don't go Do you play ?

He/She/It plays He/She/It

doesn't play

Does he/she/it

play ?

We play We don't play Do we play ?

They play They don't play Do they play ?

He eats vegetables. Él come vegetales.

Alice dances at the theatre. Alice baila en el teatro.

The dog breaks the fence.

Si el verbo es FISH (pescar), se conjugará: He fishes at the sea. Él pesca en el mar.

Si el verbo es KISS (besar), se conjugará: She kisses to her boyfriend. Ella besa a su novio.

Si el verbo es WATCH (observar), se conjugará: He watches the mountain. Él observa la

montaña.

Page 14: EDUCACIÓN BÁSICA SECUNDARIA - WordPress.com · UNIDAD DIDÁCTICA 3: “IF I WERE” LOGRO: Reconoce la diferencia entre eventos reales e irreales y utiliza la estructura lingüística

14

Si el verbo es FIX (arreglar), se conjugará: He fixes his car. Él arregla su coche.

Si el verbo es GO (ir), se conjugará: She goes to the office.

ejemplo:

NOT o DOESN'T en vez de DOES NOT.

I don't play tennis. Yo no juego al tenis.

He doesn't work in an office. Él no trabaja en una oficina.

They don't travel to Madrid. Ellos no viajan a Madrid.

Microsoft, GM

At a recent computer expo, Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto

industry and stated: “If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we

would all be driving twenty-five dollar cars that got 1000 miles to the gallon.” In response to

Bill’s comments, General Motors issued a press release the very next week.

If Microsoft made cars, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:

1. For no reason whatsoever your car would crash twice a day.

2. Every time they repainted the lines on the road you would have to buy a new car.

3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason, and

you would just accept this, restart and drive on.

4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut

down and refuse to restart. If that happened, you would have to reinstall the engine.

the radio antenna.

10. If GM introduced a new model, car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over

again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

CONSTRUCCIÓN DEL CONOCIMIENTO.

Second Conditional

Ex: If I ate more, I would be very fat Si yo comiera más, estaría muy gordo

If I worked harder, I would pass the exam Si yo trabajara más, pasaría el examen

Page 24: EDUCACIÓN BÁSICA SECUNDARIA - WordPress.com · UNIDAD DIDÁCTICA 3: “IF I WERE” LOGRO: Reconoce la diferencia entre eventos reales e irreales y utiliza la estructura lingüística

24

pasado.

Ex: I thought that she would buy a car Pensaba que ella se compraría un coche

va con “would”

IF + SUJ + VERB + COMPLEMENT /// SUJ + WOULD+ VERB+ COMPLEMENT

Ex: If Alice studied harder, she would pass the test

If I won the loterry, I would buy a house

Para la forma negativa, tenemos que anteponer la partícula not entre would y el verbo

principal.

Ex: You would not say that Tú no dirías eso

We shouldn’t buy that house Nosotros no compraríamos esa casa

wouldn’t

Ex: Would you not go to the party? ¿No irías a la fiesta?

To practice: write and develop the following exercise in your notebook.

Mrs. White’s grandfather lived with her and her husband. Every morning he went for a walk in

the park and came home at half past twelve for lunch.

One morning a police car stopped outside Mrs. White’s house at twelve o’clock and the policeman

helped Mr. White to get out. One of them said to Mrs. White, “The poor old gentleman lost his

Mrs. White was very surprised, but she thanked the policemen and they left.

“Grandfather, you have been to that park nearly every day for twenty years. How did you lose

Pasado Simple - (Simple Past Tense)

She cleaned her house. Ella limpió su casa.

I broke the window.

Affirmative Negative Interrogative

I went I didn't go Did I go ?

You went You didn't go Did you go ?

He/She/It went He/She/It didn't go Did he/she/it go ?

We went We didn't go Did we go ?

They went They didn't go Did they go ?

Page 32: EDUCACIÓN BÁSICA SECUNDARIA - WordPress.com · UNIDAD DIDÁCTICA 3: “IF I WERE” LOGRO: Reconoce la diferencia entre eventos reales e irreales y utiliza la estructura lingüística

32

He lost the keys.

She lent me a book.

They saw the movie last night. Ellos vieron la película anoche.

We went to London yesterday. Nosotros fuimos a Londres ayer.

My parents didn't work last week. Mis padres no trabajaron la semana pasada.

Lina worked in a bank from 1995 to 2002. Lina trabajó en un banco desde 1995 a 2002.

• Hechos pasados expresados en secuencia.

Sheila got up at 7 am, had breakfast, took a shower and went to work at 9 am.

yesterday - last night - before - ago - in 2002

on their vacation - last weekend - last month - last year
