mother looked at my father with a smile, and she was thinking what she was going to fix him.跟My

mother looked at my father with a smile, thinking what she was going to fix him.

1. Today almost every website is selling something. Even educational sites must get some income from advertising.

The layout of an online shop must be attractive and inviting. Then, once online shoppers get inside, they must be

able to browse through the store comfortably and find what they want. But, how can we use colors to make a

website store generate as much profit as possible? First, convert the images to the correct file format. This way, file

size will be decreased and download time shortened. Second, choose the most appropriate colors by analyzing the

store’s products or services and also the targeted customers. Next, use colors to guide the customers’ eyes to the

most important areas on the web page. The web designer needs to decide which area should be seen first and how

much time potential customers should spend on each area. Remember, keep the colors to a minimum. Too many

colors and shapes at one time make it impossible for the person browsing your website to focus and find anything.

Make use of the principles of color harmony to create a pleasant vision. That means all the colors on a website must

work well together. Therefore, don’t use unusual colors. In a word, keep this in mind: color is the basic building

material of two-dimensional images. Colors play a critical role in the potential customer’s decision to buy or not to

buy.

( ) For online stores, changing images into the proper file format helps ______.

(A)online shoppers to focus on what they want to buy

(B)cut down on the time needed to transmit files and images

(C)The layout of a website store must catch potential customers’ eye.

(D)Unusual colors are the best choice because they are seldom seen.

( ) All the colors on a webpage must be ______.

2. The colors inside a house or workplace can save on energy costs. The lighter the color is, the higher its

reflectivity (反射度), while dark walls absorb more light and reflect less. For example, the color white reflects

80% of light, but black only 5%. Therefore, rooms with dark walls require much more light than those with light

walls. Meanwhile, it’s better to keep the ceiling light and bright, so that it has greater reflectivity. However, an

extremely well-lit room with very light-colored walls is not so good, because it will have a lot of glare: that is, the

walls will be too bright. This will cause too much stimulation and finally irritation to the eyes, leading to eye

fatigue. The color of a room also influences one’s perception of temperature. Results of tests show that people

estimate the temperature of a room with cool colors, for example blue and green, to be 6 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit

cooler than the actual temperature. On the contrary, warm colors like red and orange lead to an estimate of 6 to 10

degrees warmer than the real temperature. Colors do play an important part in saving heating and cooling costs.

( ) The lightness of colors results in ______.

(A)irritation

(B)heating and cooling

(C)reflectivity

(D)glare

( ) A very well-lit room with light-colored walls will ______.

(A)over-stimulate the eyes and make them feel uncomfortable

(B)save the most energy and lighting cost

(C)lower the room temperature

(D)make people in the room feel warm

( ) According to the passage, if a person stays in a green room and the actual temperature is 53 degrees

Fahrenheit, he may guess the room temperature is ______.

(A)63 degrees Fahrenheit

(B)45 degrees Fahrenheit

( ) What will make our eyes get tired easily?

(A)Warm colors.

(B)Ceilings with dark colors.

(C)Light-colored floors.

(D)A highly-lit room with light-colored walls.

( ) According to this passage, it can be inferred that ______.

(A)making good use of colors in a house may cut down on the cost of lighting

(B)colors have nothing to do with people’s feelings about the houses they stay in

(C)light colors are always the best choice

(D)the color of the walls is much more important than that of the ceiling

3. The meanings of colors have changed over time. Even in the same society, people nowadays see the same color

differently from the way they used to see it. Below is a short review of the meanings of the basic colors in today’s

western cultures. Black represents authority and power. Black is popular in the fashion business because it’s stylish

and timeless. It also makes wearers look thinner. Besides, black implies submission: that is why priests wear black.

In Western societies, brides wear white because it symbolizes innocence and purity. White is a neutral color that

goes well with everything. On the other hand, red is the most emotional color: it is the color of love and passion.

Since it is an extreme color, red clothing always catches our attention and red cars are clear targets for thieves. Blue,

the color of the sky and ocean, gives us a sense of peace and tranquility. Blue is the recommended color to wear at

job interviews because it indicates loyalty. Another color related to nature is green. It’s the most comfortable color

for the eyes. It produces a feeling of calmness and refreshment. Hospitals are often painted green in order to help

patients relax. Yellow is thought of as an optimistic color; it also improves our concentration, so legal pads are

yellow. Different colors lead to different moods. Change your color and you change your mood.

5. Mrs. Huston, although more than eighty years old, still drove her car as if she were only thirty. She enjoyed driving

very fast and was very proud of the fact that she had never been fined for breaking the law in her thirty-five years of

driving. One day a police car was following her, and the police officers witnessed her going through a red light

without stopping. When Mrs. Huston went to the court, the old judge looked at her hard and concluded that she was

too old to drive a car. The judge was convinced that, due to her age, her eyesight was so weak that she couldn’t

recognize that it was a red light. That must be, thought the judge, the reason why the old lady didn’t stop. After

listening to the judge’s statement, Mrs. Huston took out a needle and some thread from her handbag. The needle had

a very small eye, but Mrs. Huston threaded it on her first attempt. Mrs. Huston asked the judge, “Do you drive, sir?”

The answer of the old judge was positive. “And you have no doubts about your own eyesight?” continued Mrs.

Huston. The old judge nodded in agreement. Then, she took the thread out of the needle and gave the needle and

thread to the judge. “It’s your turn now.” The old judge made dozens of attempts to thread the needle, but each one

failed. In the end, Mrs. Huston won the case. She kept her perfect driving record.

10. Ana Quirot was a star Cuban middle-distance runner. Practicing very hard every day, in 1987 she won two gold

medals at the Pan American Games. In 1989 she won all of her 800-meter races, and continued to win many races

in the following years. Quirot felt very proud to run for her country and she was excited about the future.

But in 1993 her dreams were destroyed. On January 23 she was washing some clothes in a large bowl on top of a

stove. Some of the alcohol she was adding to the clothes fell onto the stove, which burst into flames. Quirot, seven

months pregnant at the time, suffered burns on more than one-third of her body. She gave birth to her daughter

prematurely in the hospital while fighting for her life. Her daughter did not survive and died a week after she was

born. The doctors worked hard to save their famous patient, saying, “She will never run again.”

But Quirot said to Cuban President Fidel Castro, “I will run again.” She spent five long months becoming

stronger. First, she walked around her room. Sometimes she cried out in pain, and sometimes she cried because she

was so sad. Friends told her she had to rest but she did not listen. She refused to stop fighting. A few months after

her accident she was winning the battle against pain.

Quirot worked very hard because she wanted to run for her country once again. Less than a year after her terrible

accident, she ran in a race and came in second. In the 1996 Atlanta Olympics she ran a difficult race against

11. Do you remember being sick as a kid? You felt uncomfortable, you had to take medicine, and worst of all you

couldn’t play with your friends. The excitement of staying home from school quickly turned into boredom, and you

began to long to hang out with your playmates. So imagine what it’s like for children with serious illnesses or very

bad injuries. They are forced to miss weeks of school, only to return with a missing hand or leg, burned skin or a

bald head. Their friends haven’t seen them in a while and aren’t sure what to say. The sick kids are teased because

they look different or appear very weak. Coming back to school makes them feel awkward and strange rather than

joyful.

It takes real courage for the sick kids to face their friends. Such was the case with 12-year-old Willy Yates. When

Willy was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease (which has something to do with the digestive system), he not only told

his playmates all about it. He was brave enough to stand up in front of his fifth-grade science class and make a

detailed speech about Crohn’s Disease. The students thought it was interesting, said Willy, because at the time they

were studying the human digestive system.

When Willy had a stomach operation, his friends, then familiar with his disease, backed him 100 percent. The

whole school sent him a card as a way of showing their support. Willy’s sense of humor has also been a big help to

him. When kids who didn’t know about his sickness asked about the scars on his stomach, he told them that he’d

gotten into a knife fight. Everyone laughed, but they also could see that Willy was tough and brave, a real fighter.

( ) When a kid is sick, he or she may ______.

(A) feel very comfortable

(B) hang out with friends for fun

(C) go to school as usual

(D) take medicine

( ) Why do sick kids feel awkward and strange when they go back to school?

(A) Because they might look different or appear weak.

(B) Because other kids’ parents don’t want them to come back.

(C) Because their teachers won’t allow them to attend class.

(D) Because their doctor asks them to take medicine very often.

( ) What happened to Willy Yates?

(A) He was hit by a truck.

or her. Here are some tips that I would like to share with you.

First, you should suggest specific ways of helping. Don’t just ask, “What can I do?” Instead, try, “I’d like to bring

you dinner on Wednesday, OK?” Or, “I’m off on Thursday. Can I come over and do your laundry?”

Companionship during treatments is often welcomed; offer to drive your friend to his next appointment and stay

with him. If there’s a regular caregiver (for example, a spouse or parent who may be in need of a break), take over

for an afternoon and allow the caregiver to take a rest.

Second, stay connected. We should keep in touch with the patient beyond the first days, weeks or months of an

illness. It can be lonely for the sick person after the initial stream of well-wishers has faded. A regular flow of

phone calls, e-mails or visits reminds the person that you care.

Third, you should know what to say. If the sick person wants to talk about the illness, let him talk. If he’d rather

discuss something else, you might suggest topics related to his own interests, such as sports or travel. If a person’s

chances for recovery are slim, avoid remarks that are overly optimistic or pessimistic. Start with an empathetic

statement, such as, “It must be frustrating for you to feel so helpless.” If you’re visiting someone who would like to

pray together with you, that’s an appropriate way to express support, too.

( ) When a friend or relative is sick, we should______.

(A) show our concern and give our support

(B) keep away from the sick person

(C) ask him or her a favor

world, they lived in New York City. They couldn’t afford to rent a decent house so they had to rent a small

apartment and live together. Poor as they were, they still worked hard to make their dreams come true.

One day during the winter, Joanna became very sick with pneumonia. She had a high fever and could barely

outside her window, she would die.

An old artist named Behrman lived in the same building as the girls. Mr. Behrman always drank too much,

perhaps because he had never painted the masterpiece he had always dreamed of painting. He heard of what

happened to Joanna and decided to help her. He went out into the cold night to paint a leaf on the wall—a leaf that

would never fall.

Frozen and wet from painting in the icy rain, Behrman caught pneumonia and died. Yet the last leaf that clung to

the vine gave Joanna hope and enabled her to survive her illness. As for old Behrman, he had created the

masterpiece that he had always dreamed of.

14. Do you ache all over? Do you have a high fever? Do you go to see a doctor whenever there is something wrong

with your body? Here in Taiwan, people usually go to see a doctor at once when they feel sick. Going to see a

doctor is very convenient in Taiwan. Walking through the city, you will often see small clinics, and there are also

many hospitals. You don’t have to worry about being sick without doctors and nurses around. It means that parents

can feel secure whenever their little babies get sick. They can always turn to a nearby doctor for help, and the cost

will be affordable.

But the situation is quite different in America. There, you have to take care of yourself. When you feel like you

have a cold or the flu, you buy over-the-counter medicines in a drugstore instead of seeing a doctor right away.

Americans only see the doctor when something is seriously wrong. Why? Because a visit to the doctor in the U.S.

can cost a lot of money and health insurance doesn’t always pay. So it’s cheaper to rely on cold medicines from a

drugstore. Furthermore, Americans need to make an appointment with their doctor in advance. It may take several

weeks before you can see your doctor after making an appointment with him or her. Still, most people have a

regular doctor they can consult, and usually the family doctor will make time to see his or her patients in an

emergency. Also, people who don’t have a doctor can go to an urgent care center. But medical care in a hospital

emergency room is very expensive. So next time you go to America, don’t forget to bring some medicine with you

just in case, and try to take good care of yourself.

16. A cup of hot tea has a number of benefits. Hot tea is believed to strengthen the heart, reduce the risk of getting

cancer, make the skin smoother and so on. In a word, hot tea is good for our general well-being. Hot tea? Experts

have shown that tea is much more beneficial if it is served hot. This is because the heat helps release the

antioxidants (抗氧化劑)from the tea leaves into the water. Moreover, cold tea (or iced tea), while it still has

some health benefits, slows down our digestive system.(消化系統) The correct way to make hot tea is to

boil the water first, and then add the boiling water to a cup with tea leaves in it. Leave the tea in the cup for at least

five minutes. As for the water, tap water is not recommended because the chemicals used to purify the water may

change the flavor of the tea. Besides, some people add milk or honey to tea, but these may weaken some of the

antioxidants, so that the tea’s positive effects on our health are decreased. Various kinds of teas have unique healing

benefits when we drink them hot. Among these are black teas and herbal teas.

( ) Why is it suggested that we drink hot tea, not cold tea?

17. Aging is a natural process which starts in our mid-twenties. Aging results from a decline in the production of

collagen (膠原蛋白)and elastin (彈力蛋白), which give our skin its firmness and elasticity (彈性).

The rate of natural skin aging varies and is determined by heredity(遺傳). Some people start to age in their

thirties, while others don’t start to show signs of aging until later. However, external factors can also have an impact

on the aging of our skin (and thus of our appearance). One of the most damaging influences is over-exposure to the

sun. Damage from the sun’s rays causes freckles, age spots, spider veins (微血管擴張), fine wrinkles, dry

skin, and ultimately skin cancer. However, recent studies indicate that the components of green tea may protect our

skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. The main ingredient in green tea, ECGC, contributes to such beneficial

effects. When it is applied to the skin, ECGC, stops inflammation(發炎)and damage to our DNA. It also

prevents the skin from burning after too much exposure to the sun. Therefore, manufacturers are now marketing

different types of products containing green tea. But an easier and cheaper way to keep the skin from aging too

quickly is simply to drink green tea.

( ) People look older because ______.

(A) their production of collagen and elastin is decreasing

(B) their skin is harmed by the sun

(C) they do not drink green tea

(D) heredity causes damage to the skin

18. The island of Taiwan was originally formed through volcanic (火山的)activity, giving it a unique

environment. In particular, it has many high-temperature hot springs. These places are must-visit resorts for people

who enjoy relaxing in the water. The commercial development of the island’s hot springs can be traced back to

1894. At that time, German businessmen discovered Peitou and set up a small spa there. Later, when Taiwan was

governed by the Japanese, more natural hot springs were exploited. In 1896, the first hot-spring hotel was opened in

Peitou. In 1999, the authorities started to promote Taiwan’s hot springs, spurring a new wave of popularity. The

minerals in the hot-spring water are known to reduce fatigue, eczema, arthritis, rheumatic aches, and neuralgia.

Therefore, not only the healthy but also the ill benefit from the healing effects of this mineral-rich spring water. In

recent years, the beauty industry has opened up a wider hot-spring market. Hot springs now come equipped with

Here hot springs can be found islandwide except in Changhua County, Yunlin County, and Penghu County. In

northern Taiwan where the Tatun volcano is located, one can find the largest number of hot springs. Hot springs

found in this area account for more than 80% of all hot springs in Taiwan. The island has a variety of springs, both

hot and cold, and each type has its specific therapeutic properties. For example, sodium carbonate springs have

clear water and are especially good for athlete’s foot. Sulfur springs have a strong smell of rotten eggs and brownish

or milky water. The minerals in sulfur spring water are effective in curing skin disease and women’s ailments. As

23. Rita is a new employee of an advertising agency. She has been assigned a big project involving one of the biggest

customers, Hi-Tech Computers. However, things didn’t go as well as expected. One day she came home upset, and

spoke with her husband, Peter.

Rita: I screwed up at business today.

Peter: What happened? You seem frustrated.

R: As you know, I’m handling the ad campaign for Hi-Tech Computers, and today I was supposed to be at their

company for a meeting at 10:00. But I was half an hour late and Mr. Lee, the marketing manager, was very angry.

He canceled the meeting and didn’t listen to my proposal.

P: Sounds awful. But what made you so late?

R: Another customer called me around 9:30 and had a lot of questions for me. I could hardly get off the phone until

9:50.

P: Then did you tell Mr. Lee the reason why you were late?

R: Yes, I did, but it didn’t help. He told me that he had a business to run, and he couldn’t change his schedule to suit

me, or wait around until whenever I feel like showing up. And he didn’t have time to listen to my excuses.

P: Oh! I guess you’ve encountered a difficult customer.

R: That’s true. Mr. Lee is known as a demanding client.

P: Really? Then I don’t think you need to take his words personally. It doesn’t mean you did a bad job even though

Mr. Lee got upset.

R: Hmm…. This incident bothered me all day and affected my work.

P: Now you are just starting a new career. You must learn how to deal with different kinds of customers, but you

shouldn’t let Mr. Lee make you feel so bad.

R: I guess you are right. I should try to stay calm and look professional when I’m with my clients.

P: Good thinking. You still have a chance to convince Mr. Lee to adopt your ad proposals, for he will quickly learn

that you are much better than his first impression of you.

24. There are several keys to a successful interview. In addition to good preparation beforehand, the first impression

you make is important. The simplest thing you can do is smile. A good smile always pleases people. Your potential

employer would rather hire someone who looks friendly and easy to get along with. Also, a firm handshake really

matters. The right handshake, firm enough to show your confidence but also moderate, can create a great

impression as you begin an interview. Next, eye contact is one of the most important means of nonverbal

communication. Looking your interviewer in the eyes means you’re concentrating on what is being said. If you’re

looking away when speaking, it seems you are not interested or lacking in confidence. Last but not least, to

effectively communicate with an interviewer, you can try to find topics that fit his or her style. For example, if your

interviewer is very laid-back and personable, try discussing his or her interests. If he or she seems all business, you

too must be very serious. If an interviewer asks a direct question, answer straightforwardly. Let the tone of the

conversation strike a chord between the two of you, and then you will stand a chance of winning over your potential

employer.

( )Which tip is NOT mentioned in the passage?

(A) Wear a friendly smile.

(B) Give a warm handshake.

(C) Maintain eye contact.

(D) Sell your accomplishments.

( )The word “straightforwardly” has a meaning closest to ______.

(A) politely (B) honestly (C) directly (D) indirectly

( )According to the passage, keeping eye contact shows that ______.

(A) you are interesting

(B) you agree with the interviewer

(C) you are easy to get along with

(D) you are confident

( )What is a “moderate” handshake like?

(A) Hard and strong.

(B) Your favorite sports.

(C) His hobbies or pastimes.

(D) The latest best-selling book.

  解答 D;C;D;C;A

moderate (adj.)

25. A successful interview depends not only on your personal qualifications but also your preparation. Good

preparation includes knowing all the basic facts about the interview itself, and considering the impression you will

make when you first arrive. Here are some things that you can check ahead of time. First, confirm the time, date

and location of the interview, and even the name or title of the interviewer if possible. Then, be on time for the

interview. Don’t be late, or more than half an hour early. Arriving too early may interrupt the interviewer’s

schedule, while being late may give him or her a poor impression. Third, wear an outfit that looks professional.

You don’t need to wear something new, but you must be neat and tidy. Fourth, if you’ve been asked to bring any

diplomas, certificates, licenses or reference letters, it’s better to get them ready the day before. Last, when you

arrive at the interview, identify yourself and make sure the receptionist knows you are there. The receptionist does

not just announce your arrival; he or she may have the power to say positive or negative things about you to the

interviewer. So, be polite and make the best possible first impression on the receptionist as well as on the

interviewer.

(A) This would show that your time is not valuable.

(B) The receptionist may be too busy to notice you.

(C) You will look not professional enough.

(D) You may break into the interviewer’s schedule.

( ) For the interview, you should wear _______.

(A) a brand-new suit

(B) fashionable clothes

(C) something clean

(D) your college uniform

( ) Which piece of advice can we infer from the passage?

(A) We had better arrive at the interview 15 minutes early.

(B) We had better bring a gift for the receptionist.

(C) We should bring with us any documents that may be needed.

(D) We should call the interviewer the day before.

  解答 C;A;D;C;C

26. According to statistics, millions of people fall into debt every year. Most of them have jobs and a steady income,

and many even live in luxury. However, a number of people who suddenly find themselves in debt simply have no

idea about how to save money, and don’t know how to pay off their debt. The following are tips on how to save

money. First, set specific money-saving goals. For example, you may want to save for a trip, a vocational-training

program, even a car or a house. These specific financial goals can help in pushing you to save money. Second, keep

track of each dollar you spend, even if you have just bought a chocolate bar. Keep a written record of all your

expenditures for at least 2 or 3 months, for in this way you can clearly see the areas where your spending is out of

control. Next, make a budget so as to balance your income and spending. A monthly budget gives you a better idea

where your money will go and how you should arrange the priority of each item. The final goal is of course to force

yourself to spend less each month than your total income for that month. In this way the goal of beginning to save

money may be achievable. A formal budget will let you feel more in control of the money you make, and gradually

(A) it helps you know where all your money has gone

(B) it helps you set the goal of saving for a particular thing

(C) it helps you to make as much money as you can

(D) it helps you to balance your income and expenses

( ) According to the passage, what is the immediate purpose of keeping track of your expenses?

(A) You will know where and how you’ve spent your money.

  解析 statistics 統計;in debt 負債中;live in luxury 奢華過日子;vocational-training program 職業訓練的課程;expenditure 費用。

27. Euthanasia(安樂死)is the practice of ending the life of a person who is hopelessly ill. It is commonly called

mercy killing or painless death. It is an issue causing heated debate.

Many people are opposed to euthanasia for four reasons. First, they argue that no matter how you look at it,

euthanasia is killing or suicide and thus is wrong and immoral. The second reason is that there is always the

possibility of a wrong diagnosis. Doctors are not flawless, and even the best of them makes mistakes. In addition,

there is always the chance that some new pain-killing medicine or even a cure is just around the corner. The most

important reason to oppose euthanasia, for many, is the risk of abuse. They are afraid that criminals or bad people

may use euthanasia to serve their evil purposes.

However, there is the other side of the issue. A large number of people support euthanasia. One common

argument for euthanasia is that patients with incurable diseases should not be forced to continue living if they are in

69

AD... · Web viewIn a word, keep this in mind: color is the basic building material of two-dimensional images. Colors play a

great pain and cannot bear this constantly. The second reason is that staying in a hospital for a long time often

causes a financial and emotional burden on the family. Incurably ill patients often worry about the hardship and

misery that will fall on their families. Moreover, incurable patients often find their lives meaningless. Even if they

are alive, they can only lie in bed. For many, this is living death, and they would rather choose to die with dignity.

Finally, proponents believe that keeping dying patients alive on life-support systems is cruel and senseless, for it

causes great suffering to both the patients and their families, and places great burdens on the community. Therefore,

supporters believe, doctors should have the right to end the life of a terminally ill patient with the permission of the

patient or the family.

( ) What is the main topic of the passage?

(A) Definition and classification of euthanasia.

(B) Euthanasia as an issue over which opinions are divided.

(C) Arguments which are against euthanasia.

(D) Anti-euthanasia groups and anti-euthanasia campaign.

( ) In which course would this reading be assigned?

(A) Physical Chemistry.

(B) Industrial Control.

(C) Social Science.

(D) Public Relations.

( ) Which of the following would the opponents of euthanasia most probably agree with?

(A) A condition regarded as incurable at one time may later respond to treatment.

(B) Physicians should be allowed to end the life of a patient with an incurable disease.

(C) Keeping incurable patients alive on life-support systems is cruel.

(D) There is no risk of abuse if euthanasia is legalized.

( ) Which of the following mentioned in the passage is in favor of euthanasia?

(A) Euthanasia is morally wrong.

(B) Criminals may resort to euthanasia to gain their evil purposes.

(C) Euthanasia enables people with incurable diseases to die with dignity.

(D) Even competent doctors cannot avoid making mistakes in making diagnoses.

( ) Which of the following would the supporters of euthanasia most probably agree with?

(A) Doctors should use all means to keep a terminal patient alive.

(B) Keeping incurably ill patients alive at any cost is not sensible.

(C) Doctors assisting patients with incurable diseases to end their lives should be accused of murder.

(D) Terminal patients should not be allowed to end their lives because they are unable to make rational decisions.

  解答 B;C;A;C;B

Many people are opposed to euthanasia for four reasons. However, there is the other side of the issue.

In addition, there is always the chance that some new pain-killing medicine or even a cure is just around

the corner.。 Even if they are alive, they can only lie in bed. For many, this is living death, and they

would rather choose to die with dignity.,可見這(有尊嚴的死)是支持安樂死的原因之一。 由這句話proponents believe that keeping dying patients alive on life-support systems is cruel and

senseless 。

your doctor for advice. 「為什麼邁可要吃藥?」-因為他生病發燒:he had a high fever and a running nose, so his

mother took him to the doctor 29. A strong, healthy body can do an amazing job of resisting disease. There are many things you can do to keep your

body healthy. Eating proper foods is one of the effective ways. A balanced diet gives the body the nutrients it needs

to function properly.

Getting plenty of sleep is another good way. A tired, run-down body does not function efficiently and is like a car

that needs a tune-up. Sleep refreshes the body and restores the energy necessary to fight disease.

Exercise is also important in reducing stress and keeping the body healthy. Regular, moderate exercise, such as

running, dancing, swimming, biking or playing a sport, will relieve muscle tension, keep the muscles firm, and make

the heart and blood vessels healthy. Exercise, like sleep, makes the body function more efficiently. People who

exercise regularly can even strengthen their hearts.
