About BME

The German Association Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME), founded in 1954, is a business network for more than 9,000 members from Germany and Europe. BME members come from all industrial and service sectors, including distributive trade, banking, insurance and public institutions. Its mem-bership structure includes global players, numerous medium-sized firms and various associations.

The BME Symposium

The “BME Symposium Purchasing

and Logistics” in Berlin is one of the

largest European events for purchasing

and supply chain managers and BME’s

annual flagship event. Around 2,000

participants, including key industry

decision makers, top experts and

qualified service providers, attend the

event every year. The Symposium is

accompanied by an exhibition with

around 150 exhibitors.

EPE – The European Procurement

Excellence Summit

The EPE enables international CPOs to

come together in order to exchange

information and discuss successful

procurement methods and strategies.

The event takes place in different

major cities in Europe.

The e-Solution Days

The BME’s e-Solution Days are one of

the largest conventions for IT solu-

tions and strategies in purchasing and

supply management.

Professional Training

and Development

The BME Academy represents more

than 30 years of qualified profes-

sional training and is the market

leader in the fields of purchasing and

logistics.

Its courses lead to the qualification of

“Bachelor of Materials Procurement

and Logistics” and are inter nationally

recognized.

Compliance Initiative:

the BME Code of Conduct

The inter-divisional Code of Conduct

contains fundamental rules for

fighting corruption, collusion in

violation of anti-trust law and child

and forced labor.

It promotes ethical principles towards

suppliers (compliance) and principles

for upholding human rights, protec-

tion of the environment and health

and fair working conditions.

The participants in the BME Code of

Conduct include Fraport AG, Thyssen-

Krupp AG, Allianz SE, Daimler AG,

Henkel KGaA, Bilfinger SE and more

than 60 other companies and SMEs.

Professional Information

BME produces regular publications

and newsletters for its members

and for interested members of

the public.

The association also provides

professional literature, checklists

and guides.

Industrial Benchmark Services

A neutral platform enabling compa-

nies to compare their performance

and cost structures.

Industrial benchmark services are

available for KPIs, steel, energy,

indirect materials (C-articles), logistics

services and the complete purchasing

organization.

The Purchasing Managers’ Index

(EMI)

A monthly publication of the German

PMI called the “Markit /BME-

Einkaufsmanager-Index (EMI)”.

This PMI is a forward indicator of

industrial development in Germany.

With its BME China Sourcing Confer-

ence, BME provides participants with

ISF, the largest reverse sourcing fair in
