WHAT IS ENGAGE?
ENGAGING THE SCRIPTURES
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correct-
ing and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly
equipped for every good work.” - 2 Timothy 3v16
At City on a Hill we believe God reveals Himself and His purpose for the
world in revelation of Jesus Christ and His Word (Old and New Testament).
The Bible is reliable, truthful and our final authority. Therefore, in additionto personal Bible study and devotion, Engage interns will be required to
enrol in a minimum of one subject at a theological college. Our preference
is Ridley Melbourne; subjects include Old and New Testament, Theology,
Youth Ministry, etc. (approx. 6 hours per week)
To find out more visit ridley.edu.au
ENGAGING THE MISSION FIELD
“Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I
send you.” - John 20v19-23
God loves Melbourne and is seeking to renew her for our good and His
glory. We therefore seek to be good missionaries who are connected with
our culture in order that we may communicate and demonstrate the
transformative power of the Gospel through word and deed.
• Engage interns will get some hands on experience alongside City on
a Hill pastors and ministry leaders. Depending on areas of interest,
need and gifting, interns will be able to engage in a range of areas, e.g.
community outreach, music and creative ministries, discipleship
training etc.
• Our expectation is that interns will allocate a minimum of eight hours
per week to practical ministry experience, in addition to being involved
at our Sunday services

ENGAGING LEADERSHIP
“It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evan-
gelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works
of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in
the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining
to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” - Ephesians 4v11-13
At City on a Hill we are committed to raising and training leaders who are
led by Jesus, lead like Jesus, and who lead others to Jesus.
• Engage interns will, as a group, participate in regular coaching sessions
with a City on a Hill pastor or sta ff to discuss leadership, spiritual
formation, and mission
• Reading material specific to Leadership and Mission will be provided
for the duration of the program
• Several written projects will also be undertaken, which again
encourage interns to explore minstry gifts and analyze the nature of
Christian leadership
• Interns will also be encouraged to find a personal mentor/coach to
provide additional support, accountability and spiritual direction
SUPPORT
Engage interns can apply for financial support to assist in study, travel
costs, etc. In addition, interns are encouraged to generate support through
personal fundraising.

people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light

they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
