The Feast of Corpus Christi - June 6, 2021
Today's readings offer us a message of hope — God is with us and wants to heal us. May
this message come ablaze in our hearts so that we might live with unwavering faith.
The Gospel presents us with the story of the
profound physical healing of a deaf man with a speech impediment. People brought him to Jesus and begged for his healing. Jesus took the man off by himself, touched his ears and
his tongue, then proclaimed, “Be opened!” Im-mediately he was healed.
This story in our Gospel overwhelms us with
comfort and peace because we have a compas-sionate God who sees our physical needs. Yet
if we reflect further on this reading, we see that God uses this moment of physical healing as an opportunity to restore something much
deeper—our souls.
Often, we are blind and deaf to God in our lives. We miss countless opportunities to see God working in our day-to-day moments—through our loved ones, our community, or
even a stranger. We miss the quiet voice of Je-sus in our hearts telling us to choose Him in-stead of sin, respond in love instead of anger, or care for someone else in a moment instead
of ourselves.
These are how we need to be spiritually healed. And the scriptures remind us that God
is with us and wants to heal us.
This week let us seek God to heal our souls and transform our hearts. Let us pray that our
eyes and our ears might “be open" to His workings, words, and promptings in our
lives.
Our School and Parish Offices will be closed
on Monday, September 6th in honor of the La-bor Day Holiday. Mass will be celebrated at 8:30am and our Blessed Sacrament Chapel
will be opened until noon. The Parish Office will reopen at its usual time of 9:00am on
Tuesday, September 7th.
The Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time - September 5, 2021
Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary!
We congratulate Bert and Donna Ferrari on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Both were joined in the Sacrament of Marriage on 09/04/72.
May they continue to have many more happy years praising God and being a
symbol of His love in the world!
The Ministry to the Sick and Homebound Distribution of Holy Communion
According to the Pastoral Care of the Sick # 72, the sick or aged, even though not seriously ill or in danger of death, are given eve-ry opportunity to receive Communion frequently, even daily, especially during the Easter Season. Those who care for the sick or family members may also receive Communion even if they have already received Communion for that day. St. Cecilia’s Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC), aka Eucharistic Ministers (EM), are very happy to vis-it, to bring Communion to, and to share our love, care and news of parish events with our Sick and Homebound in the morning between 9:30 am and 11:30 am, either on weekend or weekday. If you, or someone you know, is in need of an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, please contact Silvia Uriarte, the coordinator of St. Cecilia's Ministry to the Sick and Home-bound, at (949) 552-6545 or [email protected].
