Mission Objective• Mission StatementOur team will explore Europa’s properties and research to find biological potentials

• Science Goal- To know creatures can live

in Europa- To investigate habitable

conditions for human be-ings

Page 5: E.T. ( E uropa T ravelers)

Europa?Europa- Is the sixth closest moon of

the planet Jupiter.- The smallest of its four

Galilean satellites.- Has the largest liquid water

ocean in the solar system.Index Value

Surface Pressure 0.1 µPa

Volume 0.015 VE

Mass 0.008 VE

Mean Density 3.01 g/

Page 6: E.T. ( E uropa T ravelers)

Why?- Has abundant water

beneath the ice layer

- Ice layer is too thick that can protects any harmful radiation.

- Ice layer can insulate heat

Page 7: E.T. ( E uropa T ravelers)

Why?- Hydrothermal vents may

exist. Which similar with the origin feature or Earth.

- Researchers found oxy-gen which came from liv-ing creatures.

- There’s a warm lake be-low the ice layer.

Page 8: E.T. ( E uropa T ravelers)

Search Target- Search for the composition of water, atmosphere and

the ice layer

- Search for isotope elements to look for Bio – marks

- Search for Europa’s electromagnetic field

- View around the water layer and detect heats

Instruments we need

Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry Magnetometer

Ice Penetrating Radar Infrared Camera

Page 10: E.T. ( E uropa T ravelers)

Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry(GC-MS)

This instrument combines the features of gas-liquid chro-matography and mass spectrometry to identify various sub-stances from samples.

Page 11: E.T. ( E uropa T ravelers)

Magnetometer(MAG)

It can measure the strength of magnetic field in ocean. Then we can find the area which is the most appropri-ate to live.

Page 12: E.T. ( E uropa T ravelers)

Ice Penetrating Radar(IPR)

The IPR sends radios or microwaves to the ice layer and it reflects on the lowest ice layer. In this process, the different ice layer’s thickness will determine the length of the whole mission.

Infrared CameraInfrared Camera

- Infrared Low Light Camera : Se-cure a clear view in the dark

- Infrared Thermal Camera : we can know about temperature of the object

Page 14: E.T. ( E uropa T ravelers)

Bio-markersWe will search for elements which came from living creatures by GC-MS

We will look for heats which maybe came from living creatures

We will use strong electromagnets to de-tect magnetic bacteria
