ส�าหรบผลการด�าเนนงานในไตรมาส 1 ป 2558 ทผานมานน ปตท.สผ. รบรก�าไรสทธ 264 ลานดอลลาร สรอ. เพมขนมากกวารอยละ 100 เมอเปรยบเทยบกบขาดทนสทธส�าหรบไตรมาส 4 ป 2557 จ�านวน 739 ลานดอลลาร สรอ. เนองจากไตรมาส1 ป 2558 ไมมการรบรขาดทนจากการดอยคาของสนทรพย ในขณะทไตรมาส 4 ป 2557 มการรบรขาดทนจากการดอยคาของสนทรพยในโครงการพททอพ ออสตราเลเชย และโครงการมาเรยนา ออยล แซนด อยางไรกด บรษทยงคงไดรบ ผลกระทบจากสถานการณราคาน�ามนตกต�าในตลาดโลก เหนไดจากราคาขายผลตภณฑเฉลยทลดลงประมาณ 14% ในไตรมาสน

ทงน ปตท.สผ. มการเตรยมพรอมรบมอกบสถานการณราคาน�ามนผนผวน โดยมการปรบแผนการลงทน เพอใหสอดคลองกบสภาวะราคาน�ามนทตกต�า โดยมแนวทางในการบรหารเงนลงทน ไดแก การวางแผนและเรยงล�าดบความส�าคญของการใชเงนลงทน รวมถงการลดคาใชจาย ตามโครงการ SAVE…to be SAFE เพอลดตนทนการด�าเนน ธรกจ และเมอกลางเดอนกมภาพนธ 2558 ทผานมา ปตท.สผ. ไดจดตงคณะท�างาน (task force) เพอก�าหนดแผนงานบรหารคาใชจายและ ลดตนทนทงในสวนของโครงการ และส�านกงานใหญ โดยมเปาหมายทจะลดเงนลงทนในป 2558 ไมต�ากวารอยละ 10 จากแผนเดมทเคยประกาศไว

Greetings shareholders, investors, and readers,

PTTEP expresses its gratitude to all shareholders who exercised their voting rights at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) held on 26 March 2015. Participation at the AGM is an important mechanism through which shareholders engage in the management of the Company to promote good corporate governance. This reflects an effective and transparent management system which enables sustainable growth.

During the first quarter of 2015, PTTEP’s net profits were USD 264 million, an increase of more than 100% against net losses of USD 739 million in the previous quarter. The turnaround of earnings was due to asset impairment

charges recognized during the fourth quarter of 2014 on the PTTEP Australasia Project and the Mariana Oil Sands Project. Nonetheless, PTTEP’s performance during the first quarter still reflects the adverse impact from the low oil price environment which resulted in a 14% decrease in PTTEP’s average sales price.

However, PTTEP is prepared to cope with oil price volatility. The Company has adapted its investment plans

to suit the lower oil price environment, which include the prioritization of the Company’s capital expenditures and implementation of the “SAVE …to be SAFE” initiative to reduce operating costs. Besides, in mid-February, the Company

established a task force to identify and manage expenditure reduction plan for projects as well as at the headquarters. PTTEP’s target in 2015 is to

deliver a cost reduction of not less than 10% of the previously announced expenditure plan.

Since 2015 is the notable year that will bring a new

era of economic cooperation to member countries of

the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)

effectively forming the ASEAN Economic Community

(AEC). PTTEP, therefore, would like to provide

shareholders with confidence that we strictly operate

our businesses with effectiveness and ethics under

the principles of good corporate governance, and are

extensively prepared to step into the ASEAN corporate

governance (CG) standard, thereby sustainably creating

a long–term value to shareholders.

In this issue, Mrs. Pranot Tirasai, the PTTEP Corporate Secretary, will talk about the ASEAN CG Scorecard, which is a common CG standard for ASEAN listed companies, as well as its assessment criteria and readiness of PTTEP to comply with it.

Mrs. Pranot: ASEAN CG Scorecard is the common standard for corporate governance assessment and ranking among the publicly listed companies in 10 ASEAN member countries. The scorecard has been developed by the ASEAN Capital Market Forum (ACMF) to raise the standards of corporate governance of the publicly listed company in ASEAN to the internationally accepted standards. The assessment covers

Mrs. Pranot: We are confident that our company is well-prepared for the assessment of the ASEAN CG Scorecard as PTTEP has always conducted businesses by adhering to the Good Corporate Governance Policy that is regularly updated by the Board of Directors to ensure the appropriateness.

In addition, from the 2013/2014 corporate governance status assessment of the ASEAN CG Scorecard criteria conducted by Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD), PTTEP was one of 17 Thai publicly listed companies to receive the score range of “90 points and above”. This is the highest score range of the assessment, and it is higher than average scores of 529 ASEAN listed companies and 100 Thai publicly listed companies. Such achievement clearly confirms that PTTEP operates business in an effectively and ethical manner and that we are ready to raise our corporate standards to the international levels.

Mrs. Pranot: ASEAN CG Scorecard places importance on the policy development (Form) and its implementation (Substance), and PTTEP strongly believes that the success of these two aspects starts from a commitment of top management (Tone from the Top). The Board of Directors and management of PTTEP must be a good role model for employees to strictly follow with the implementation by constantly demonstrating it, giving advices, and communicating about this matter to them.

The strategy and business plan set by PTTEP show how PTTEP recognizes of the importance of the good corporate governance and business ethics (CG&BE). People who work for PTTEP at all levels, including directors, executives and employees, must attend the orientation in which the introduction to CG&BE is included, and they are required to sign the commitment form to adopt the CG&BE principles. Moreover, we also organize CG&BE fundamental and advance training courses, which focus on the CG&BE knowledge and its various applications to employee’s daily work. The Corporate Governance Committee, which was assigned by the Board of Directors to govern this matter, always participate in these courses to demonstrate their commitment and emphasize on the significance of CG&BE to employees.

Moreover, PTTEP also continuously monitors and evaluates the implementation of CG&BE principles. For example, we developed the E-Learning activity for all PTTEP management and employees to study and examine their CG&BE knowledge to ensure correct understanding companywide. Moreover, our training is continuously updated with new best practices to make sure it is current. The Corporate Governance Committee and the Board of Directors will receive a report on the CG&BE promotion activities on a quarterly basis to be used for further improvement.

PTTEP’s earnings during the first quarter of this year materially increased quarter-on-quarter due to recognition of impairment losses from the PTTEP Australasia and Mariana Oil Sands Project during the fourth quarter of 2014. However, the Company’s sales revenues decreased as a result of lower oil prices this quarter. The following section discusses our core performance drivers.

Sales Volume during the first quarter of 2015 averaged 327,145 BOED, representing a 6% decrease from the previous quarter of 347,295 BOED as a result of lower volumes from the Contract 4 Project caused by low gas nominations and maintenance shutdown, as well as from the PTTEP Australasia Project.

Average Sales Price decreased approximately 14% relative to the previous quarter, from 56.54 USD/BOE to 48.74 USD/BOE due to lower oil prices. (Average gas price in the 1st Quarter was 8.03 USD/MMBTU, while crude and condensate prices averaged 50.12 USD/Barrel)

Revenues during the first quarter decreased approximately 26% against the previous quarter, chiefly from lower sales volume and lower average sales price. Total revenues earned amounted to USD 1,497 million, of which USD 1,435 million were from sales while the remaining USD 62 million were from other sources, such as pipeline revenues, and gains on derivatives.

Expenses during this quarter summed to USD 1,218 million, decreasing about 52% quarter-on-quarter. The relative decrease is due to the fact that asset impairment losses of assets were charged in the fourth quarter of 2014 for the PTTEP Australasia and the Mariana Oil Sands Projects. Moreover, the Company has lower well write-off and income tax expenses versus the fourth quarter of 2014.

Net Income for PTTEP totaled USD 264 million for the first quarter of 2015, an increase of more than 100% versus the previous quarter as a result the aforementioned reasons. As such, PTTEP maintained its strong EBITDA Margin of 74%.

ในสวนของงบแสดงฐานะทางการเงน ณ วนท 31 มนาคม 2558 ปตท.สผ. มสนทรพยทถอครองอยมลคารวมทงสน 23,353 ลานดอลลาร สรอ. โดยเปนหนสนจ�านวน 10,760 ลานดอลลาร สรอ. และสวนของผถอหนจ�านวน 12,593 ลานดอลลาร สรอ. ทงน อตราสวนหนสนตอสวนของผถอหน และตอ EBITDA ของ ปตท.สผ. อยท 0.33 เทา และ 0.82 เทา ตามล�าดบ โดยอตราสวนดงกลาว ยงอยภายใตกรอบนโยบายการบรหารเงนของบรษทท 0.5 เทา และ 1 เทา ตามล�าดบ

As of 31 March 2015, the Company had total assets of USD 23,353 million, of which liabilities accounted for USD 10,760 million, and the remaining USD 12,593 million was the shareholders’ equity. PTTEP’s Debt/Equity ratio and Debt/EBITDA ratio at the end of the quarter were 0.33 and 0.82, which continue to be well within the company’s policy of maintaining the ratios under 0.5 and 1.0, respectively.

Mariana Oil Sands ProjectThe Mariana Oil Sands Project completed the Winter Delineation Campaign (WDC) in early March, discovering quantities of oil as expected. The project is awaiting results of reserve assessment which will be submitted to the government of Alberta as supporting material for the approval of Thornbury Phase 1 development. Studies for the project’s development plan, including Pre-FEED are also being undertaken.

Zawtika ProjectThe Zawtika Project continued to carry out gas development operations including the installation of an additional wellhead platform to maintain production levels. The project is also continuing the campaign to drill 10 appraisal wells with completion expected during the second half of 2015.

PTTEP Australasia ProjectDuring the first quarter of 2015, the Montara Field produced at an average rate of 21,000 BPD. The Cash Maple Field, which is in the exploration phase, is undertaking an engineering study as well as commercial assessment to determine development concepts for the gas field.

ปโตรเลยมดวยอตราการผลตเทานตอป โดยทไมมการหาปรมาณส�ารองเพมเตม จะมปโตรเลยมคงเหลอให ใชตอไปอยางนอยอกกป ซงคานไดมาจากการน�าปรมาณส�ารอง ปโตรเลยมทพสจนแลว (Proven Reserves) หารดวยการผลต ปโตรเลยมตอป (Production) และมหนวยทไดเปนหนวยป

ดงนน ขอมล R/P Ratio ของกาซธรรมชาตในประเทศไทย ไดจากการน�าปรมาณส�ารองกาซธรรมชาตทพสจนแลว (Proven Reserves) หารดวย อตราการผลตกาซธรรมชาตของป 2555 (ขอมลจาก BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2013) มผลลพธประมาณ 6.9 ป ซงหมายความวาหากผลตกาซธรรมชาตในอตรานตอไป กมนใจไดวา ประเทศไทยจะมกาซธรรมชาตใช ไปไดอยางนอยประมาณ 7 ป

และเมอสงเกตขอมลยอนหลงไป 5 ป จะเหนวาเรามคา R/P Ratio ลดลงมาโดยตลอดจากทเคยม 8 ป ลดเหลอเพยง 7 ป แสดงวาเรามอตราการคนพบปรมาณส�ารองทพสจนแลว ชากวาอตราการผลต ถาเราไมสามารถคนพบปรมาณส�ารอง ทพสจนแลวเพมไดอก ปรมาณส�ารองกาซธรรมชาตจะตองหมดลงใน 7 ป ขางหนาอยางแนนอน

สวน R/P Ratio ของน�ามนดบในประเทศไทย อยท 2.7 ป และจากขอมลยอนหลงไป 5 ป พบวาลดลงจากเดมทคอนขางคงทอยท 4 ป แสดงวาเรายงมการคนพบปรมาณส�ารองทพสจนแลวในอตรานอยกวาการผลต และถาไมมการคนพบปรมาณส�ารองใหมๆ เรากเหลอน�ามนดบใหผลตเพยงแคประมาณ 3 ป

2.คาReservesReplacementRatio(RRR) คอ สดสวนของการจดหาปรมาณส�ารองทพสจนแลวเพอ

ทดแทนปรมาณการผลตของแตละป ซงการผลตจะสามารถด�าเนนไปตอเนองในระยะยาวไดจะตองมคา RRR อยางนอยคอ 1 หรอสามารถหาปรมาณส�ารองทพสจนแลวทดแทนได 100% ของการผลตในแตละป

ถา RRR ต�ากวา 1 หมายถง เราสามารถทดแทนปรมาณส�ารองทพสจนแลวไดนอยกวาปรมาณทผลตไป หรออกนยหนงกคอ เราไมสามารถปรบเปลยนปรมาณส�ารองทยงไมพสจนขนมาเปนปรมาณส�ารองทพสจนแลวได ปรมาณทมอยจะคอยๆ ลดลงไปเรอยๆ และถา RRR เทากบ 0 หมายถง ไมสามารถคนพบปรมาณส�ารองเพมเตมได การผลตตอไปเรอยๆ จะท�าใหน�ามนหมดไปในทสด

The project is a learning opportunity for 60 selected high school students across the country to learn the environmental and natural conservation in Thailand. This will instil l their conscience, protect the environment and create value for the community and society through the learning facilities. These facilities were developed by PTTEP and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation under the PTTEP’s Thai Heritage World Heritage Project having launched since 2006.

During the camp, the youths had the opportunities to learn the importance of KhaoYai National Park through various activities such as bird watching, following the footsteps of wild animals, the exploration of Khao Yai’s nature trails, the making of artificial salt lick, and the techniques of taking natural photos from professional photographers. They also learned ways of working in conserving national e n v i r o n m e n t f r o m M r . S a s i n Chalermlarp – a leading activist in Thailand on natural conservation

and Secretary of Seub Nakasathien Foundation. The camp’s activities also helped youths to learn the valuable l e s s o n s f r o m t h e w e l l - k n o w n conservationist who made them realize the importance of joining together to preserve the national heritages and environment.
