Our know-how is having

an impact in Moldova. 

We’ve helped over 480 enterprises in Moldova access advice. We are currently funded in

Moldova by Sweden and the European Union through its Neighbourhood Investment Facility.

We helped 89% of enterprisesincrease their turnover, with a

median increase of 23%.

After working with us, 30% ofenterprises accessed external

finance, for a total of €22million during 2011-2013.

Through our advice, 72% ofenterprises increased their

 productivity, with a medianincrease of 12%.

We helped create 278 jobsduring 2011-2013, as 68% of

enterprises increased theirnumber of employees.

At the European Bank forReconstruction and Development(EBRD) we provide more than justfinance. We also provide business

advice to help small and medium-sized businesses grow, succeed,then grow again, becoming genuinecatalysts for their local economies,then their region.

We have been doing this successfullyin Moldova since 2005, applyingfunding from the Early TransitionCountries Fund, the EBRDShareholder Special Fund, Sweden,the Netherlands and the EuropeanUnion.

We’ve combined over €7.8 million indonor support with more than €2.8million in contributions from ourclients to help over 480 small andmedium-sized businesses. Ournetwork of local consultants hasprovided business advice in manyareas, including marketing,information communicationtechnologies, energy efficiencysolutions, and others. Moreover, ourindustry experts from Germany,Romania, Italy, Austria, the UnitedKingdom and beyond shared their

own unique experiences andinternational best practices to helpbusinesses take the next step.

We support businesses across manyindustries, such as food andbeverages, wholesale and retaildistribution, construction andengineering. We don’t just work in thecapital city. In fact, 34% of ourprojects are outside Chisinau.

We care deeply about genderequality. That’s why we launched theWomen in Business programme inMoldova in 2012. Since then, wehave carried out advisory projects

with 60 female entrepreneurs andorganised trainings on leadership andstart-ups for women in business, aswell as women consultants.

Since 2009, another important focusarea is enhancing energy efficiencyfor Moldovan SMEs. Close to 100SMEs have received assistance inimplementing energy efficiencyconsultancy projects, and at thesame time we’ve carried out anumber of activities to raiseawareness on energy efficiency

among small businesses and developthe capacities of Moldovan energyefficiency consultants.

We build strong, competitive marketsfor business advice that will thriveindependently, well into the future.Over the past three years we doubledour network in Moldova to over 215consultants. We are now training thenext generation of consultants inleadership, management and energyefficiency.
