The infographic Look Cook Book is a project to against yucky food that most of children dislike. I presented in illustration way and uesd the bright colours. And the reel form is considering the mommy can hang it in the kitchen.

By transforming the tradition recipes, which usually use a lot of real pictures on it, I hope to design a cookbook that contain cute praphic and concern about visual guidance to be easy to used and attract more children to eat the food that they are not willing to eat before. That's why I call the recipe "from yucky to yummy".

TABASCO Gift Box two packs & four packs

"TABASCO" series, is a brand form the U.S.A. But most of people thought TABASCO is filled with a strong Mexican flavors. The concept is inspired from the Mexican culture, representing TABASCO's attitude of life behind the brand in its style of packaging.

The two packs and four packs of the TABASCO gift box have two different styles inside the wooden box. One is traditional illustration. The other is modern illustration. Each case can turn to different surface and put others together into many intresting pictures. I design one product with two styles is for offering customers more choice. And the wooden case is not only a part of packaging, but also can reuse it. Custormers can buy it for gift or they can perchase for celebrating festivals. I hope the "TABASO gift box" can make consumers and everybody feel surprise, satisfied, and joyful.

Personal Statement Fang, Chia-Tai

I want to pursue the postgraduate degree in visual communication design that you offer. The world around us is full of visual communication design. Every product or poster features amount of information and graphics, so wherever you are there is information beside you. These means that good visual communication designers have become very important, and given my university major in commercial design, I would now like to focus on visual communication design and learn more about this area as a postgraduate.

I am now studying commercial design at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and have taken courses such as Marketing, Brand Design Practice, Fashion Design Professional Practice, Creative Planning, Design and Micro-entrepreneur, Advertisement Design and Seminar on Technology Innovation and Application.

In my second year at university, I took a visual communication design course and we were asked to redesign the Taipei Metro Map. It was difficult to design as I had to consider recognition factors and if it was clear to viewers. The process was really complicated and it took a long time for me to complete. After finishing the Taipei Metro Map Redesign project, I realised that design cannot be done as a single thought. It is not enough for it just to look good.

You have to consider many different ways and figure out what is best for the viewers. I also realised that a designer needs to improve themself with more knowledge and skills all the time to become better. As a result, I want to get more knowledge and skills in the visual communication design area and pursuing a postgraduate degree is a good way to learn more.

I think visual communication design is like makeup as everything gets more beautiful when it is properly designed. But it is also important to deliver the information to people. For customers, their first impression of a product is the graphics, so a visual communication designer will be requirement for every enterprise in the future. I believe that the United Kingdom is an appropriate country to study design and that it will be an eye-opener to experience a Western culture that is very different from the East. This is why I want to pursue a degree in visual communication next year.

With regard to my future career plan, after I complete your master’s degree, my short term goal is to stay in the UK, apply for visual communication design related jobs and work for one or two years to gain more real life experience which will be helpful for my career in the future. My long term goal is to enter a design studio in Taiwan. I want to make some contribution and to utilise the professional skills and knowledge that I learned on your programme.

I will do my best and study hard because I believe the courses in your department will help me to complete

my goal. I sincerely hope that you will give me the opportunity to study on your programme. I have full

confidence and am ready to confront any challenge. Your programme will not only help me to achieve my

objectives, but also help me return to Taiwan and help increase visual communication design in my native

country.

Thank you for your consideration of my application, I look forward to hearing from you.
