Professor Scott E Denmark, Reynold C Fuson Professor of Chemistry, University of Illinois

Professor Peter Wipf, University of Pittsburgh

About Patai’s Chemistry of Functional GroupsWelcome to e-Patai, Patai’s Chemistry of Functional Groups online. One of Wiley’s landmark book series, The Chemistry of Functional Groups, founded by Saul Patai in 1964 is the most comprehensive resource in functional group chemistry available in print or online.

Patai covers all aspects of the chemistry of functional groups including physical organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and techniques, reaction mechanisms, chapters on synthetic pathways, reactions and strategies as well as applications in drug discovery, pharmaceuticals, biochemistry and molecular biology.

This is the most complete, comprehensive work in functional group chemistry. The uniqueness of its content is two fold, its review style gives additional understanding beyond reactions and data and its breadth of the coverage, specifically in the areas of physical organic chemistry and analytical techniques gives in-depth coverage of all facets of functional group chemistry.

A key working reference for the advanced postgraduate, senior researcher or organic chemist in industry, but also an information resource for more junior researchers and students, Patai is fully searchable and its articles are available in either pdf or html formats.

Volumes from 1964 to 1995 available as a backfile, making classic volumes available online for the first time. The e-MRW and the backfile are available to be purchased together to give complete access to the whole of Patai. Over 40 years of content now available online.
