FIFA Ultimate Team 14: 8 Most
Crazily Overpowered Strikers
http://www.gamebasin.com/news/fifa-ultimate-team-14-8-most-crazily-
overpowered-strikers
Honourable FIFA Ultimate Team players will spend a great deal of time devising an original, well‐
balanced team which caters to their personal play‐style. Though you hopefully wouldn’t go as far
as to frame a print out of your beloved squad, this painstakingly created group of players will be
your pride and joy. Whatever challenge an opposition’s team throws at you, your team should be
so versatile that it can adapt to the situation and act accordingly to secure those all‐important 3‐
points. However, no matter how talented a FUT manager you are, there exists a handful of players
on the game so overpowered that they can instantly reduce all your hard work to ruins. Though
obviously these unnaturally skilled players unfortunately exist in all positions, the vast majority of
them occupy the role of the striker. Strikers are clearly the most dangerous players generally
speaking so it makes sense this should be the position which plays host to these crazily potent
players. Whether its through their blistering speed, painfully dangerous aerial abilities (a common
feature on this list), insane dribbling skills or a combination of all of these, these forwards posses
attributes which makes it far too easy for them to score. The opposition’s striker is the player most
likely to cause us to hurl our controller at the wall, burst into expletives and rage quit from the
game so when the striker happens to be one of the handful of dubiously overpowered forwards, it
makes it all the more frustrating. No matter what you do, these super‐forwards will likely punish
you at several stages during the 90 minutes. They don’t even have the highest player ratings in the
game – they just happen to have high stats in all the areas that make a player overpowered. The
fact that their rating isn’t the highest is another source of frustration – often this drives down the
player’s value which in turn makes them more affordable to the masses of unexperienced FIFA
novices who don’t know any better… It’s a vicious circle. Here are the 8 most overpowered strikers
on FIFA 14:
8. Mame Diouf
Mame Diouf is a ridiculously potent player on FIFA Ultimate Team who – at 450‐coins – is so cheap
he can be used by a beginner player, eager to exploit the extremely dangerous Senegalese striker
to buy them easy passage into the higher leagues. Playing for Hanover 96 means that Diouf can be
fielded in a scary Bundesliga squad to receive the chemistry required to send him into overdrive.
Diouf is a superb athlete. He can leap like a salmon out of water (93 jumping), sprint like a gazelle
(90 sprint speed) and accelerate like a speeding bullet (86 acceleration). These physical statistics
mean that Diouf can dart through a sluggish defence or leap through the air to score an ultra‐
frustrating aerial goal against you. Indeed, his 82‐heading accuracy combined with his
aforementioned jumping abilities mean that as soon as you see that Diouf card appear on your
opponents team, you know his head will be getting at least a brace against you.
7. Jóbson
The first time you play against an Ultimate Team with Jóbson up front you will likely breathe a deep
sigh of relief – what could this 72‐rated, silver card possibly do against your superstar back four of
6’2”+ brutes? The answer is that Jóbson – in the hands of even a mediocre player – will run your
defence ragged on several occasions during the match. Despite the crack‐cocaine scandal which
has hampered his professional career, the virtual Jóbson on FIFA 14 is still a force to be reckoned
with. His 92‐acceleration and 81 agility means that he is capable of losing the flat‐footed, plodding
centre‐backs feebly trying to protect your goal. Most worryingly, his 5‐star skills moves mean that
oftentimes he will humiliate your defenders en route to banging one past your keeper. Despite
being a silver card, Jobson currently sells for around 20,000‐coins on the marketplace and has been
recorded as selling for over 50,000 for a time – clearly this overpowered card is no secret.
6. Luis Muriel
Muriel has been a thorn in the side of Ultimate Teams the world over since FIFA 14 first hit store
shelves. The Colombian is one of the many speedsters exploited by skill‐challenged FIFA players to
try and steal an easy win. With his 88‐acceleration, 86‐agility and 90‐sprint speed, Muriel certainly
looks quick on paper and let us inform the uninitiated among you that he is every bit this fast in‐
game. Muriel is by no means a sprinter with no footballing skills though. With his 85‐ball control,
87‐dribbling and 82‐finishing, Muriel is a technically gifted forward who will sting you every time
he gets the chance. At only 800‐coins, Muriel is easily accessible to players in every league, many
of whom will be all too eager to exploit his overpowered stats to spearhead a Serie A team.
5. Jackson Martínez
Since a young, skinny Cristiano Ronaldo left the Primeira Liga to go and try to make his fortune in
the Barclays PL (and what a fortune he would make!), there has never been a bigger reason to build
a Portuguese team in FUT than Jackson Martínez. The Porto forward has been recorded as being
available for as little as 700‐coins so is affordable to even the most impoverished FUT manager. It
is extremely worrying that Jackson Martínez is universally attainable. With his 6’0” frame, 85‐
jumping and 86‐strength, Martínez is one of the very best headers of the ball in FIFA 14’s already
overpowered aerial scoring system. Like a Columbian Didier Drogba, if it flies onto Martínez’ head
the opposition’s fans will almost‐certainly be joyously screaming moments later. You will be
forgiven for thinking that such a juggernaut is slower than Per Mertesacker with a sprained ankle
– Martínez actually has a superb 84‐sprint speed. Throw 4‐star skill moves into the mix with 84‐
finishing and you have one of the most overpowered players in the entire game.
4. Stevan Jovetić
Deep‐pocketed Premier League big boys Manchester City may have won the league title but this
was with very little support from Stevan Jovetić. The champions paid a reported £22 million for the
Montenegrin striker but only managed to squeeze 11 league performances out of the new signing,
and even when he did play he didn’t look like the man they had greedily snatched from Fiorentina.
The developers have given Jovetić the benefit of the doubt for his slow start in the Premier League
– indeed, saying that EA have given the City striker the benefit of the doubt may be an
understatement. They have made Jovetić one of the deadliest strikers in the entire league and
available for an average of only 1,500‐coins. Jovetić is perfectly suited for the highly popular false‐
nine position and – looking at his stats – it’s easy to see why. His 87‐dribbling, 89‐ball control,
82‐acceleration and 81‐sprint speed mean that Jovetić is incredibly gifted with the ball at his feet.
With 83‐finishing and 80‐long shots he can have a go on goal from just about anywhere and his
finesse shot is a thing that will frustrate your Ultimate Team more times than you care to mention.
3. Víctor Ibarbo
Ibarbo’s heading accuracy of 69 is about as misleading a stat as we have ever seen. As soon as you
see an Ultimate Team with the Colombian up‐top your heart will immediately sink, dreading the
aerial onslaught you are about to endure. The towering Cagliari forward uses his 6’2” height
combined with his 82‐jumping to exploit FIFA’s generous offensive heading system with aplomb.
Ibarbo is also devilishly quick – with 89‐acceleration and 95‐sprint speed the Colombian is a
supernatural athlete in‐game, able to zoom around the field despite his imposing size. Though his
finishing may be a comparatively humble 75, most Ibarbo users will default to using that insane
speed of his to try and set up a sweaty goal. Ibarbo isn’t limited by his playing in some lesser‐known
league where his supporting cast of players won’t give him the service he needs – his place in a
Serie A team means Ibarbo will be receiving balls from some of the very best playmakers in the
whole game.
2. Christian Benteke
It is sad to admit it, but everyone other than Belgians will be secretly relieved that Christian Benteke
has been ruled out of the World Cup when he ruptured an Achilles tendon in training at the start
of April. The Belgium squad has been looking increasingly dangerous and is a favoured underdog
pick among many punters to win the whole tourney. Though Christian Benteke hasn’t looked like
the same player who devastated Premier League defences in 2012/13, he is still widely regarded
as the sleeping giant of the Aston Villa squad. The 23‐year‐old may have had a lacklustre 2013/14
in reality, but on consoles Benteke is likely to have scored far more goals than the likes of Suarez,
Robin van Persie and Aguero. Our logic for this statement is justified – even the 81‐rated winter
upgrade of Benteke is available for a sub‐1000 price tag so the Belgian is likely to be fielded on
more squads than the more expensive strikers. Further, his overpowered stats make it incredibly
easy to score with Benteke. His 90 finishing certainly helps with this but Benteke’s real weapon is
his dominancy in the air. A crazy 6’3” frame means that Benteke is taller than most of the centre‐
backs marking him and combine this with his 93 strength and 84 jumping and it’s not hard to see
why the affordable Benteke is the surprise first choice striker of many Barclays PL Ultimate Teams.
1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Aubameyang is probably the man responsible for more broken DualShock 3 and Xbox 360 wireless
controllers than any other player. It is hard to say that Aubameyang’s incredible FIFA rating isn’t at
least in part justified. In his debut for German club Borussia Dortmund, the Gabonese striker scored
a hat‐trick, with his very first shot for the club resulting in a goal. With his 96‐acceleration and 95‐
sprint speed, Aubameyang is shockingly not the fastest player on FIFA 14 – he was beaten to the
speed‐king crown by Theo Walcott and the lesser known Mathis Bolly (Fortuna Dusseldorf).
However, Aubameyang’s capabilities on the pitch make him far more overpowered than these two
players. His ‘tries to beat the offside trap’ trait is more‐or‐less superfluous as Aubameyang could
start in his own goal and still beat defenders to a threw ball. With his 82‐finishing, Aubameyang is
well equipped to beat the keeper, though generally players who use Aubameyang will employ him
to set up a deplorable sweaty goal.
