You did it! You made it through the first month of a new semester! By this time, you would have spent time in class focused on getting to know your instructor, getting a nice broad overview of the topics to be studied, and are just beginning to scratch the surface of content to be learned.

So, If you haven’t already, fasten your seatbelt and prepare for an intense amount of learn-ing from this point forward.

While you are going through what could be an intense time of the semester, be aware that it is normal for many students to feel overwhelmed, either by the sheer amount or the complexity of content that they need to absorb as the term progresses. Small changes in your routine, like tackling your least favorite subject first, or studying the most difficult topic at bedtime, can make a real difference, as to what you are able to understand and retain.

So take just a few minutes to review some quick study tips that can help you to stay motivated and in your best learning mode. Don’t forget that you are not alone, and that more help, such as tutors and workshops, are always available through our

Seneca Learning Centre. It is all possible!

First Generation Student: a student whose PARENTS DID NOT attend a post-secondary institution. Even if your siblings attended a post-secondary institution, if your parents didn’t, you ARE still considered a First Generation student.
