”Thanks to the processes of the world economy, the real estate investors, the banks and the public were all wrong in their calculations. They built flats in the order of ten thousands, which were bought by people expecting a prolonged boom period, undertaking an overly big financial burden (straining their financial capacity) using the mortgage loans pressed on them at favourable conditions. But the financial crisis burst the bubble. The heavily troubled banks were saved by their government. All of their assets and liabilities were fully guaranteed by the state, thereby nationalizing the burdens of the financial institutions. Though there was a surplus in the budget of Ireland before the crisis, this year the deficit will be the 32% of the GDP because of the help out of the banks. Despite the repeated promises by Dublin, the financial markets did not believe that Ireland would be able to finance itself even at ever increasing costs.
