Aistear: ********** Aistear is directed play and it plays a colossal part of the curriculum for infants in school. They should enjoy this play and it ought to enable them to use their own imagination and creativity in tandem with enabling the learning of new vocabulary and many other things. The theme is The Ice Cream Parlour. The children love it in school when we play shop. The children can make posters for their Ice Cream parlour. Posters with prices, flavours/menus, opening and closing times these will help greatly with learning time and money. Ensure that the prices are all ‘doable’ for your child, so less than 10 is a good idea but again depending on ‘your’ own child’s abilities. They can make boxes for holding the ice cream they are to sell from clean recyclables in your home (Junk art which many creative bunnies LOVE in scoil) Children are always welcome to make their own variation of ice cream parlour out of Lego or any similar construction activity.)
