Graduation Requirements• Eng Lang Arts– 4 credits• Social Studies – 3 credits• Science – 3 credits• Math – 3 credits

– Algebra 1– Geometry– Advanced Algebra

• Health/PE 2 Credits– Health 0.5– PE 1.5

• Arts – 2 credits (or 1 credit Art + 1 credit *PPR)

• World Language – 2 credits (or 2 credits *PPR)

• Career & Technical Education (CTE) – 1 credit

• Electives – 4 credits• Careers (High School &

Beyond Plan)• Pass SBA ELA and Math

tests.• Pass Science Test

Credit Retrieval• GK Online Credit Retrieval (FuelEd)

– $70 per 0.5 credit ($50 reduced lunch, $30 free lunch)– English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science

• GK ALEKS Math Credit Retrieval– $70 per class ($50 reduced lunch, $30 free lunch)– Algebra 1 through Pre-Calculus

• BYU Online–Approximately $150 per 0.5 credit–Core classes and elective classes

• Summer School– information available in April

4-Year College Entrance Requirements

• English – 4 credits• Math – 3 credits (minimum

of Algebra 1, Geometry, AND Adv Algebra)

• Senior Year Quantitative Course – 1 credit

• Social Studies – 3 credits

• Science – 2 credits lab science, one credit of Algebra based science (Chemistry or Physics)

• Fine Arts – 1 credit• World Languages – 2

credits of the same language

• ACT/SAT score (take spring of 11th grade)

10th Grade Courses

• English Language Arts 10 OR Honors English Language Arts 10

• World Studies OR AP World History• Biology (or other science if already passed

Biology)• Math• Electives/courses needed for

graduation/college entrance

Advanced Placement• AP students will take an AP test in May –

approximately $95 AP test fee• Interested students must read and sign the

AP contract• Scores of 3, 4, or 5 may earn college

credit or waivers at college level• AP is a predictor of completion of a 4-year

college degree• Don’t take too many AP and Honors

classes!

New Courses

• Human Body Systems– Credit: CTE, Lab Science, Health, or Elective 1.0– Prerequisite: Successful completion of Principles of the

Biomedical Sciences.– This class replaces Applied Anatomy & Physiology.

• Spanish for Native Speakers 1– Credit: Elective 1.0– Prerequisite: Ability to understand and communicate verbally

and be able to write simple basic sentences in Spanish. Results of placement test.

• Earn college credit from the University of Washington.

• Cost: approximately $370• GKHS Courses:

– The Biology of Addiction and the Brain– Computer Science

Option for the Near Future:Running Start

• Eligible 11th/12th grade students enroll in college classes to earn college AND high school credit

• To be eligible, students must pass the COMPASS or Accuplacer test in spring of the 10th or 11th grade year.

• Tip: Earn PE credits before junior year

locker partner to request a locker for next year.• Course Selection Forms and completed CC

Course Planner are due in Careers classes by March 4. Don’t forget a parent signature.

• Sign the AP Contract if signing up for an AP class.

• YOU MUST HAVE A PARENT SIGNATURE ON YOUR FORM PRIOR TO TURNING IT IN!!!!!

• Counselors will choose courses for students who have not turned in completed forms by March 4.
