tanzconnexions. Pada bulan Juli situs tanzconnexions

akan diluncurkan lagi dengan wajah dan struktur

baru. Wadah yang unik ini akan menampilkan tren

tari terbaru di Asia Tenggara, Australia, Pasifik, dan

Eropa. Setiap bulannya Anda akan dapat mengikuti

berita aktual mengenai koreografer, pementasan

dan diskusi seputar tari. Masih di bulan Juli, yang

juga menjadi bagian Ramadhan yang tenang bagi

kaum Muslim, kami akan menampilkan konser piano

Daniel Herscovitch. Festival film German Cinema edisi

ketiga akan kami laksanakan pada bulan Agustus

dengan menampilkan film-film Jerman luar biasa,

baik itu dari kategori film cerita maupun dokumenter.

Peminat seni video kami undang untuk menyaksikan

pameran Looking at the Big Sky pada bulan

September dan Oktober yang akan menampilkan

karya-karya menarik mahasiswa-mahasiswa

dari empat akademi seni di Jerman. Pameran ini

adalah satu kerja sama antara kami dan Ark Galeri

Yogyakarta serta Platform3 Bandung. Kami masih

memiliki banyak program lain yang mungkin sesuai

This month, we are happy to point out one of

our virtual projects. Our new dance magazine

www.goethe.de/tanzconnexions went online in

June. This unique platform captures new dance

trends in Southeast-Asia, Australia, the Pacific

and Europe. Every month, new choreographers,

stagings and debates are presented. We start the

calmer fasting month July with a Piano Concert

with pianist Daniel Herscovitch. In August, German

Cinema Film Festival returns for the third time,

once more showing an excellent program of

contemporary German Feature- and Documentary

Films. In the range of video-art we present the

exhibition “Looking at the Big Sky”, showing

interesting works of students from four German

art academies in September and October. The

exhibition is realized in cooperation with Ark Galeri

Yogyakarta and Platform3 in Bandung. We offer a

lot more interesting programs! Have a look at our

Resital piano ini akan mencakup 200 tahun musik piano. Selain karya-karya klasik dari Beethoven, Schubert, Liszt, dan Schumann, kita juga akan mendengarkan karya dari komponis Indonesia, Yazeed Djamin dan Ananda Sukarlan. Daniel Herscovitch, dosen di Universitas Sydney, sebelumnya belajar di Munich dan tinggal di Jerman selama 13 tahun.

Sebuah pasar menjadi mikrokosmos kehidupan masyarakat pada suatu masa. Ada masjid yang belum punya kubah karena kekurangan dana. Seorang suami ditinggalkan oleh istrinya. Sementara itu, seorang anak perempuan merasa tak dicintai oleh ayahnya. Beragam tokoh dan masalahnya dilukiskan dalam film ini. Kenakalan dan keluguan anak-anak menjadi benang merah cerita dan membuat film ini memiliki nuansa humor yang segar, namun tetap menyajikan soal-soal kemanusiaan dengan sederhana dan menyentuh.

DUO PROJECT diciptakan oleh dua musisi Indonesia yang juga merupakan sahabat. Mereka adalah Ramadhani Syah, seorang pianis, dan gitaris, Johanes Radianto. Mereka menciptakan proyek ini pada pertengahan 2012 yang diawali dengan permintaan untuk membuat konser dengan format sederhana dan berjudul DUO PROJECT. Setelah mendapat respon baik dari penonton, maka Ramadhani dan Johanes memutuskan untuk mengembangkan DUO PROJECT. Sebuah grup jazz baru di dunia jazz Indonesia.

This piano recital will cover 200 years of piano music. Besides classical works by Beethoven, Schubert, Liszt and Schumann, also works by the Indonesian composers Yazeed Djamin and Ananda Sukarlan will be heard. Daniel Herscovitch, docent at Sydney University, has studied in Munich and lived in Germany for thirteen years.

A small wet market is presented as a microcosm of the society at a time. Various characters and their problems are depicted alternately in this film: An unfinished mosque, a husband that separated from his wife and a young girl that ran away from home. Through daily problems of modest people that are often mixed with humor, the film by Garin Nugroho presents questions of humanity in a way that is simple yet touching.

DUO PROJECT is a recently created project by two Indonesian jazz musicians, who are also the best of friends: pianist Ramadhani Syah, and guitarist Johanes Radianto. They created the project in 2012, following a request for a concert with a simple group format, titled DUO PROJECT. After they got a positive response from the audience, Ramadhani and Johanes were inspired to take DUO PROJECT forward. A new Jazz group entered the Indonesian Jazz scene.

Penduduk kota Berlin yang terbelah hidup penuh kekuatiran dan ketakutan yang membuat jiwa mereka sepi. Mereka bergumul sendirian dengan kerinduan-kerinduan mereka. Hanya malaikat yang dapat mendengar apa yang ada di kepala penduduk kota itu. Wim Wenders mengubah Berlin menjadi tempat metafisik, tempat kesepian, rasa putus asa, cinta dan harapan menghilang ke dalam komposisi patetis dan sulit dimengerti. Pada 1987 film ini mendapat penghargaan sebagai Film Terbaik Eropa dan Penyutradaraan Terbaik untuk Wim Wenders dalam ajang Festival Film Cannes di Prancis.

Worries and fears have turned the inhabitants of the separated Berlin into lonely souls that struggle with their longings. Only the angels can hear what is going on in their minds. Wim Wenders turns Berlin into a place where loneliness, desperation, love and hope melt into a pathetic and cryptic composition. The Film was awarded with the European Film Prize and with the Prize for the Best Direction at Cannes Film Festival in 1987.

Jutaan ton makanan dibuang ke tempat sampah setiap tahun termasuk produk-produk makanan yang tanggal kedaluwarsanya belum terlewati. Apakah kita telah kehilangan rasa penghargaan terhadap makanan? Valentin Thurn mencari tahu mengapa begitu banyak makanan yang sebetulnya masih bisa dimakan justru dibuang jadi sampah. Film ini juga mengetengahkan konsekuensi-konsekuensi lebih luas yang diakibatkan dari terbuangnya bahan makanan dengan sia-sia.

Seorang dokter muda, Juliane, dan Ruth, seorang ibu rumah tangga yang tertekan, bergabung dengannya. Sebagai anggota terakhir kelompok kecil itu, Jan, seorang polisi, ikut bergabung. Film bertema unik mengenai sekelompok pejalan kaki ini membawa penontonnya ke tempat-tempat tak bertuan di Jerman. Di akhir cerita, setiap orang mengalami perubahan. Film layar lebar pertama Nick Baker Monteys ini mendapat antara lain penghargaan dari Festival Film Internasional Aubagne pada 2011 sebagai Film Terbaik dan Musik Film Terbaik.

Format kuartet jazz tanpa bass belum populer di Indonesia. Keempat musisi tanah air ini memiliki beragam latar belakang pengalaman bermusik di Indonesia, Eropa dan Amerika. Sebagai sebuah proyek di antara berbagai kesibukan Riza Arshad, Sri Hanuraga, Elfa Zulham dan Adra Karimthey, TUSLAH memberikan warna baru bagi musik jazz di Indonesia dengan menggabungkan unsur klasik, jazz, blues, funk dan rock.

Julian flees Berlin and plans to go to southern Germany by foot. Soon he finds himself with company. The young doctor Juliane and the frustrated housewife Ruth join him, and finally the trio is accompanied by policeman Jan. The road movie for pedestrians takes viewers on a journey through a German no man’s land. Ultimately, all of the travellers have undergone a change. The debut film of German filmmaker Nick Baker Monteys was awarded with two prices at the International Film Festival Aubagne 2011.

A jazz quartet without a bass instrument is a format which has not yet gained popularity in the country. The four musicians bring in a variety of musical experience from Indonesia, Europe and America. In addition to the work Riza Arshad, Sri Hanuraga, Elfa Zulham and Adra Karim do on their individual projects, TUSLAH will give a ‚new color‘ to the Jazz scene, combining elements of classical, jazz, blues, funk and rock.

A JAZZ LIFESalamander Big Band sedang mempersiapkan konser tahun ini! Bekerja sama dengan Erasmus Huis, Goethe-Institut Indonesien mengundang pemain alat musik tiup yang terkenal, Ack van Rooyen. Setelah Big Band Clinic yang cukup intens, ia akan tampil bersama dengan musisi Salamander dalam serangkaian konser. Ack sebagai seorang maestro terkenal dengan cara bermusiknya yang hangat dan ringan. Dia telah mengikuti minatnya dalam Jazz sepanjang perjalanan musiknya dalam kerjasama dan tur di Eropa, Asia dan Amerika Selatan.

Kami sangat menantikan penampilan yang bermutu ini dan berharap dapat menyambut Anda di sana!

The Salamander Big Band is preparing for another highlight this year! In cooperation with the Erasmus Huis, the Goethe-Institut brings to Indonesia the famous wind player Ack van Rooyen. After an intense Big Band Clinic, he will perform together with the Salamander musicians in the following concert tour. Ack is well-known for his warm and light yet virtous play. He has followed his interest in Jazz throughout his musical journey in cooperations and tours in Europe, Asia and South America.

We are looking forward to another high-level performance and hoping to welcome you there!

Melalui gambar-gambar indah, film Seelenvögel bercerita mengenai tiga orang yang masih sangat muda yang menderita Leukemia. Dengan penuh perasaan, sutradara, penata kamera dan forografer Thomas Riedelsheimer menunjukan kepada penonton bagaimana keluarga-keluarga yang terkena masalah ini menghadapi kematian. Pada akhirnya hanya ada satu kesamaan di antara mereka, harapan dan tekad untuk memperjuangkan kehidupan.

Salamander Big Band, sebuah ensemble musik Jazz yang terdiri dari 30 musisi muda dari Bandung, didirikan pada tahun 2006 dan sejak itu berlatih dan menciptakan standar yang sangat tinggi pada dunia Jazz Indonesia, dengan konser yang biasanya dipenuhi oleh penonton. Goethe-Institut secara rutin mengundang musisi Jazz yang berpengalaman untuk membantu para musisi muda ini dan didedikasikan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan mereka dalam Big Band Clinic. Untuk ulang tahun Salamander Big Band yang ke-8, kami sangat senang dapat menyambut Ack van Rooyen, seorang ahli Big Band, yang akan turut tampil dalam tiga konser istimewa di Bandung dan Jakarta!

SALAMANDER BIG BAND MEETS ACK VAN ROOYEN

In marvelous pictures, Seelenvögel tells the story of Pauline, Richard und Lenni, who suffer from leukemia. Filmmaker, cameraman and photographer Thomas Riedelsheimer shows sensitively, how the three young people and their families deal with the topic of death. In the end, they all have one thing in common: their hope and their will to live.

The Salamander Big Band, a Jazz ensemble of 30 young musicians from Bandung, was founded in 2006 and has ever since rehearsed and established a very high level of performances in the Indonesian Jazz scene, with concerts usually completely booked out. The Goethe-Institut regularly invites experienced Jazz musicians to help those dedicated young musicians develop their skills in the Big Band Clinic. For the band’s 8th anniversary, we are very glad to welcome Ack van Rooyen, a Big Band expert for three fantastic concerts in Bandung and Jakarta!

Para mahasiswa dari empat akademi seni di Jerman diundang untuk berpartisipasi dalam sebuah kompetisi video kanal tunggal bertajuk Looking At The Big Sky. Empat belas karya video yang terpilih, secara luar biasa berhasil memberikan respon terhadap gagasan tematis dengan berbagai motif serta praktek berkarya. Berbagai pendekatan diterapkan sebagai modus penciptaan, mulai dari narasi fiktif, penyataan fisikal personal, rekaman temuan, hingga dokumenter rekaan.

LOOKING AT THE BIG SKYKOMPETISI // COMPETITION

Students of four German art academies were invited to enter recent single-channel videos in the competition Looking at the Big Sky. Fourteen films – works which respond to the thematic postulation with an astonishing variety of motifs and practices – were ultimately selected. The spectrum ranges from fictional narratives and stagings to individual assertions and performances, from found-footage montages to pseudo documentaries.

Seniman Jerman, Reinhard Kleist yang memenangi penghargaan internasional melalui novel grafisnya yang berjudul Johnny Cash: I See a Darkness dan The Boxer akan hadir pada kesempatan festival ini untuk memberikan workshop komik, sharing session serta keikutsertaannya pada acara Musik and Live Drawing. Pameran karya Reinhard Kleist akan ditampilkan di Galeri Sangkring Art Space. Reinhard Kleist akan berpartisipasi pada Ubud Writers and Readers Festival (1 – 5 Oktober 2014, Ubud, Bali ) dalam rangka memberikan workshop, bincang-bincang bersama pengarang dan juga menampilkan hasil karya terbaiknya melalui pameran.

Goethe-Institut Indonesien in cooperation with ISI Yogyakarta presents a series of comic events as part of COMIC’S WEEK YOGYAKARTA.

German artist Reinhard Kleist, whose graphic novels Johnny Cash: I See a Darkness and The Boxer won international praise, will attend the festival to give comic workshops, sharing sessions and a Music & Live drawing event. An exhibition of his works is scheduled at Gallery Sangkring Art Space. Reinhard Kleist will attend Ubud Writers and Readers Festival (1st – 5th of October 2014 Ubud, Bali) for more workshops, author’s talks and another exhibition of his masterpieces.
