District Board Applications

Bulletin Editor and Electronic Publicist (BEEP)

The BEEP this year will be responsible for updating all social media sites related to Indiana Circle K. This includes, but is not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. In addition, the BEEP will be responsible for training and helping all other bulletin editors in Indiana. The BEEP will also need to request for clubs to send in articles for the monthly newsletter. In order to enhance the Kiwanis Family Relations, it will also be required to interview members of Circle K, Key Club, and Kiwanis for articles for the newsletter.

The BEEP will not be updating the website or making the finalized newsletter. The BEEP will be working directly with the Indiana Circle K Governor and Secretary.

District Convention Chair (DCON Chair)

The DCON chair will have a large job this year. We will be transitioning from a 3-day DCON to only a 2-day event. We will also be switching hotels to be at

the Embassy Suites in northern Indy. Overall, the DCON chair will be responsible for making the schedule, creating sub-committee’s, creating

registration forms, selecting food options, organizing the events at DCON, and ensuring that all things are taken care of for this event.

The DCON chair will be working directly with the Indiana Circle K Governor and District Administrators.

Hi Indiana! Have you ever wanted to help out with Circle K at the state level? Now is your chance! Both the BEEP and DCON chair positions are now open. Please submit your application (sent out via email on 7.28) by 11:59pm EST on September 1st, 2014 to [email protected].

Since Kiwanis and Key Clubs can be created in every town and at every high school, there are typically more clubs and therefore more divisions. Circle K has 3 divisions (Lake Region, Metro Fields, and River Valley), while Kiwanis and Key Club both have 24 divisions. We’ve listed the division pair-ups below for you reference so you can easily communicate with the Key Club/Kiwanis District Board members for your area.

Key Club Alumni

A Message to Graduating Key Club Seniors:(for club distribution use)

To Our Most Recent Key Club Alumni,Congratulations, you made it. Most people for the past several

weeks have been cheering you on to reach your next destination – college. For the past four years of your life, you have been waiting for this moment, this breath of freedom, this milestone to occur. For many of us, this exciting time in our lives is bittersweet because within the past four years we have become dedicated to an organization, to a cause, that changed our lives forever. Whether you were a Key Club member for a few months or for a few years, you have made a difference. You served your homes, schools, and communities, but most of all, you improved and built yourself as a well-rounded individual who are now able and ready to take on the world. You didn’t just walk across a stage to receive your diploma, but you gathered knowledge and experience to do truly wonderful things for the remainder of your life. Now, here comes the hard part, saying goodbye. Key Club, whether we know it or not, has made us who we are today. Some of us have gained friends from across the other side of our towns to the other side of the world through this passion for service. We have learned leadership skills and many can now write and give a speech with a ten minute notice. This crazy time has become a lifestyle, a usual and normal schedule that drives us towards success. Congratulations, because your ride has just begun. Here is your official invitation to join Circle K at your new university. Many of us joined the Kiwanis Family because someone asked us to (or because we thought we would make keys), and here I am, asking you to join me in continuing our life journeys together as a family. Circle K is similar to Key Club, however, its emphasis on service and student leadership is heightened. Circle K is an opportunity for you to connect to people on your new campus, while building new friendships that will last a lifetime. I don’t have to tell you all that Circle K has to offer because you already know the power of finding yourself by getting lost in service. All I can really say is that I hope to find my way back to you through Circle K. See you there.

Forever yours in service and friendship,

Sally FinkelKiwanis Family ChairIndiana District of Circle K

Recruitment, Recruitment, Recruitment

Do’s • Mention that we are the “world’s largest collegiate community

service organization” in your elevator speech. This gives CKI strong credentials that my impress new members. Use the tagline found in our brand guide!

• When creating handouts use bright colors and pieces of paper in various shapes and sizes this will make your club’s resources standout.

• Give them your club’s email, Facebook link as well as your information in a creative way. Last year IPFW taped club information to Ramen noodles! YUM!

Don’ts • Share any poor experiences that you have had.• Clutter your table at a club fair. • Overwhelm potential members with acronyms such at “LTG”,

“DCON”, “DLSSP”, “STUFH”, etc. Courtesy of Stick with NYCK Aug. 13

The start of a new school year is now in sight! Is your club ready? While attracting new members is a continual process, the beginning of the school year is one of the biggest recruitment times. Students are looking for a student organization that is going to be fun, interesting, and rewarding. CKI is that student organization! Check out this quick checklist and the Do’s and Don’ts of recruitment to make sure your ready to make this year great!

Do you know when your student org. fair is? Are you registered? Have you created new member handouts to explain the AWESOME

benefits of joining Circle K? What’s your CKI Elevator Speech?

Members of the Month!

Congratulations on being elected Member of the Month for July 2014! On behalf of the Indiana District, I would like to thank you for your

dedication and service to Circle K.

You are Amazing!

Clubs in Action! This summer has been very eventful for UIndy Circle K. We started off the

summer with an event called Fac/Staff day which is something that we do once a

semester (in the fall and spring). This is a day dedicated to our faculty and staff

members at the University of Indianapolis. On Fac/Staff day, we volunteer at their

houses to do whatever work they need us to do whether it is painting fences, raking

leaves, pulling weeds, or trimming bushes. Another event that we participated

in this summer was the Annual Perry Township Kiwanis Fish Fry. This is the

second year the UIndy has participated in the event and it has been successful each year.. Want to hear more about UIndy CKI

and their biggest day of service?! Check out the complete story on the District Website!
