un ventaglio ampio e articolato di motivi per un soggiorno. Molta parte delle fortune turistiche derivano dal clima temperato, favorito dalla pre-senza di stagioni miti e da un’alta percentuale di giornate soleggiate. La salvaguardia del territorio e i pregi del paesaggio equamente suddiviso tra cime, montagne, vallate, colline e pianura ga-rantiscono condizioni di soggiorno ottimali in tutte le stagioni dell’anno, secondo possibilità di scelta molto ampie: dalla pratica del mountain bike all’escursionismo fino a 2000 m, dalla bal-neazione alla pratica di tutti gli sport, dall’attività economico-finanziaria allo shopping. Lugano e l’intera regione che le gravita attorno sono quindi protese verso un turismo “intelligente”, perché molto vario e sostenuto anche da offerte culturali che per vocazione si inseriscono nel carattere di questa terra: dai molti musei alla costante offerta di spettacoli e di concerti, dagli edifici nei cen-tri storici all’edilizia rurale nelle vallate, fino alle costruzioni moderne della “nuova architettura ticinese”, ormai famosa nel mondo.

Der touristische Erfolg von Lugano ist vorwiegend auf das milde Klima zu-rückzuführen, begünstigt durch einen See, milde Jahreszeiten und viele sonnige Tage. Der Schutz der Landschaft sowie die Vorzüge einer Vielfalt von Spitzen, Bergen, Täler, Hügeln und Ebenen, garantieren optimale Bedingungen während al-ler Jahreszeiten je nach der Auswahl, die man trifft: Mountain Bike und Bergwanderungen bis auf 2000 Meter gehören ebenso dazu wie Ba-defreuden im See oder in Schwimmbädern und Sportaktivitäten aller Art; dazu kommen Wande-rungen über Land und durch weitgehend intakte Dörfer. Lugano und die dazugehörende Region sind deshalb für einen “intelligenten” Tourismus sozusagen prädestiniert, vor allem durch ihre vielen kulturellen Angebote: Angefangen bei den vielen Heimatmuseen, Veranstaltungen und Kon-zerten bis zu den Patrizierhäusern in den histo-rischen Zentren und der bäuerlichen Architektur in den Täler und schließlich zu den modernen Bauten der so genannten “neuen Tessiner Archi-tektur”, die inzwischen weltweit bekannt ist.

Come arrivareI La regione e la città di Lugano sono raggiungibili
con ogni mezzo di trasporto: treno, aereo e au-tomobile. Lugano si trova sull’asse autostradale che collega l’Europa del nord al Mediterraneo e grazie alla rete di strade cantonali si possono raggiungere agevolmente un ampio ventaglio di passi alpini a nord della città: la Novena, il San Gottardo, il Lucomagno, il San Bernardino, lo Spluga e il Maloia. Ma Lugano è anche vicina alla Lombardia, la regione italiana industrialmente fra le più importanti d’Europa, ed è particolarmen-te ben collegata a Como e Milano, raggiungibili comodamente con l’autostrada o col treno. L’a-eroporto di Lugano-Agno, a soli 6 chilometri dal centro, offre un’infrastruttura aeroportuale pic-cola, ma comoda e adeguata alle esigenze del traffico di linea, offrendo tempi d’imbarco brevi e collegamenti giornalieri con Ginevra e Zurigo. Gli aeroporti di Milano Malpensa e Bergamo Orio al Serio sono inoltre collegati a Lugano con shuttle bus giornalieri. La stazione ferroviaria, sull’asse internazionale del Gottardo (Milano-Chiasso-Zu-rigo) offre collegamenti veloci con tutte le più im-portanti destinazioni europee, ed è raggiungibile dal centro sia a piedi sia con un bus.

Dank des gut ausgebauten kantonalen Strassennetzes können Sie von hier ganz bequem viele Alpen-pässe im Norden des Tessins erreichen: den Lukmanier, den San Bernadino, den Splügen, den Nüfenen und den Maloja. Lugano grenzt zu-dem an die Lombardei. Diese italienische Region gehört zu den wichtigsten industriellen Zentren in Europa und besitzt besonders gute Verkehr-sanbindungen nach Como und Mailand, die Sie gemütlich über die Autobahn oder mit dem Zug erreichen. Der Flugplatz Lugano-Agno, der nur 5 Kilometer vom Stadtzentrum entfernt liegt, bie-tet eine kleine aber bequeme Flughafenanlage und für den Linienverkehr ausreichende kurze Boarding-Zeiten und die Alltag-Verbindungen nach Genf und Zürich. Zwischen Lugano und den Flughäfen Milano Malpensa und Bergamo Orio al Serio verkehren zudem tägliche Shutt-le-Busse. Der Bahnhof an der internationalen Gotthard-Transitroute (Mailand-Chiasso-Zürich) bietet schnelle Verbindungen zu allen wichtigen europäischen Städten und ist vom Stadtzentrum aus zu Fuss oder mit einem Bus erreichbar.

Lugano se trouve sur l’axe autorou-tier qui relie l’Europe du nord à la Méditerranée, un réseau de routes cantonales permet d’at-teindre facilement divers cols alpins au nord de la ville: le Nufenen, le Saint Gothard, le Lukma-nier, le San Bernardino, le Splügen et le Maloja. Lugano est aussi très proche de la Lombardie, la région italienne industriellement la plus impor-tante d’Europe, et est particulièrement bien re-liée à Côme et à Milan que l’on atteint facilement en voiture par autoroute ou en train. L’aéroport de Lugano-Agno, qui n’est qu’à 6 kilomètres du centre, offre une infrastructure aéroportuaire petite mais commode, adaptée aux exigences du trafic de ligne. Il offre des temps d’embar-quement courts et des liaisons quotidiennes avec Genève et Zurich. Les aéroports de Mi-lan Malpensa et Bergame Orio al Serio sont en outre reliés à Lugano par un service quotidien de bus-navette. How to getE The city of Lugano and the region around it are
easily reachable by train, airplane, car and pub-lic transportation. Lugano is located next to the A2 highway that links Italy with Northern Europe and thanks a well-developed grid of roads one can comfortably reach by car a large number of mountain passes to the North such as St. Gothard, San Bernardino, Spluga and Maloia. Lugano is also close to the Italian border and is very well connected, both by railway and mo-torway, to important cities such as Como and Milano to the South and Zurich and Basel to the North. The Lugano-Agno airport is just 6 kilom-eters away from the city center and, although small, offers daily connections to other Swiss cities like Geneva and Zurich. The airports of Milano Malpensa and Bergamo Orio al Serio are easily reachable thanks to the daily shuttle buses departing from Lugano railway station. The rail system offers direct hourly connections to Chiasso, Como, Milano and Zurich and the opportunity to connect to trains headed to all major European railway hubs. Getting to station in Lugano is easy thanks to a bus that connects it to the city center or by foot.

I numeri di Lugano: 67’000 abitanti, 76 km2 di su-perficie a 273 metri sopra il livello del mare, 3.a piazza finanziaria svizzera, 100 e oltre gli istituti bancari presenti in Città.
Storia Lugano ha origini antiche. Le prime tracce sicure dell’esistenza di una comunità sono testimoniate in un documento che risale all’anno 875 che parla di “Sancti Laurentii in Luano”. Oggetto di continue contese ducali (Como e Milano), Lugano e le sue Pievi passano sotto il dominio degli svizzeri nel 1513 che si perpetua fino al 1798 anno in cui, sot-to la spinta dei grandi rivolgimenti europei, chiede ed ottiene l’Indipendenza entrando a far parte della Confederazione Svizzera.

Geschichte Die Anfänge Luganos gehen weit zurück. Erste sichere Spuren des kleinen Fischer- und Bau-erndorfs stammen aus dem 10. Jahrhundert. Das von den Herzogen von Mailand und Como immer wieder umstrittene Lugano und seine Pfarrgemein-den ging 1513 in Schweizer Herrschaft über, bis es 1798, im Sog der europäischen Umbrüche, die Unabhängigkeit erhielt und Teil der Schweizeri-schen Eidgenossenschaft wurde.

HistoireLes origines de Lugano sont très anciennes. On trouve des traces de ce petit village lacustre et rural dès le Xe siècle. Objet de querelles ducales (Côme et Milan) incessantes, Lugano et ses paroisses passèrent sous domination suisse en 1513. Il en sera ainsi jusqu’en 1798, date à laquelle, sous l’in-fluence des grands bouleversements européens, Lugano demande et obtient son indépendance et entre dans la Confédération Helvétique.

It was the object of continu-ous ducal disputes (Como and Milan) and then Lugano and its Pievi became a Swiss dominion in 1513, a dominion that lasted until 1798, a year in which, under the pressure of the great European upheavals, it asked and obtained independence, thus becoming part of the Swiss Confederation.

LUGANESEI Lugano, oltre ad essere una città di importanza
internazionale ricca di cultura e attività per tutti i gusti, è circondata da una regione altrettanto interessante. I parchi e i numerosi giardini botanici del lugane-se danno la possibilità di immergersi nella natura, a un passo dalle splendide acque del Ceresio. I monti circostanti – il Brè e il San Salvatore sono famosi per le loro escursioni, che offrono delle viste panoramiche mozzafiato sul lago e sulle montagne che lo incorniciano. Una miriade di ca-ratteristici borghi, si pensi a Carona o Morcote, af-fascinano il visitatore con le loro strette contrade, i balconi fioriti e la quantità di grotti in cui consu-mare le ottime specialità locali, il tutto non lontano dal centro cittadino. Raggiungibili con un piace-vole tragitto in battello anche Gandria, Caprino e le cantine di Gandria sono destinazioni sempre amatissime sia dai turisti che dai Luganesi. La re-gione, inoltre, è disseminata di sentieri, da fare a piedi o in bicicletta, che portano all’esplorazione dei rigogliosi boschi che la rendono speciale per gli amanti della natura. I Romantico villaggio di pescatori, arroccato ai pie-di del Monte Brè, offre al visitatore uno stupendo panorama. Chiusa al traffico, Gandria è un’oasi di tranquillità con le sue pittoresche viuzze e scalet-te. È raggiungibile in automobile (posteggio all’en-trata del paese), in battello, in bus oppure a piedi da Castagnola-San Domenico percorrendo in mezz’ora un facile sentiero che costeggia il lago.

F Gandria est situé au pied du Monte Brè directe-ment au bord du lac de Lugano. Le village est accroché au rocher et offre toute une suite de portiques très pittoresques. On peut s’y rendre en voiture (parking à l’entrée du village, car il n’y a pas de circulation), en autocar ou en ba-teau. De Castagnola-San Domenico un sentier romantique, longeant le bord du lac, conduit à Gandria en trente minutes.

CAPRIASCAI Il paese di Tesserete, situato in una conca asso-
lata delimitata dalle colline e dai monti, è un pun-to di partenza ideale per conoscere ed esplorare la Capriasca. Zona ricca di testimonianze auten-tiche, la valle vanta un paesaggio incantevole, disseminato di villaggi poco distanti uno dall’al-tro che hanno saputo conservare il loro aspetto caratteristico e storico e le splendide chiese in stile barocco. Prima fra tutte è l’imponente chie-sa parrocchiale di Santo Stefano, a Tesserete, il cui campanile romanico, parte di un edificio pre-cedente, si scorge già in lontananza. Gli amanti dello sport apprezzano molto la sa-lita nella Val Colla e i boschi a perdita d’occhio attraversati da una miriade di sentieri, un vero e proprio paradiso per gli appassionati di escur-sioni sia a piedi che in mountain bike. Il Centro sportivo di Tesserete, inoltre, offre condizioni ide-ali per lo sport, lo svago e la ricreazione durante tutto l’anno. Degni di nota, per una passeggiata “culturale” sono i boschi vicino al centro balnea-re dove è racchiusa la zona archeologica di San Clemente, la Torre di Redde e l’eremo di San Bernardo sul promontorio vicino a Comano. Me-rita una visita anche il convento Santa Maria del Bigorio, fondato nel 1535, e prima sede svizzera dei frati cappuccini.

Das Tal liegt in einer bezaubernden Landschaft mit verstreuten, eng beieinander liegenden Dör-fern, die ihr typisches und historisches Ortsbild und ihre grossartigen barocken Kirchen bewahrt haben. Allen voran die eindrucksvolle Pfarrkirche Santo Stefano in Tesserete, deren romanischer Glockenturm, der Teil eines früheren Gebäudes war, schon von weitem zu sehen ist. Sportliche Naturen schätzen den Anstieg ins Val Colla mit seinen ausgedehnten Wäldern und unzähligen Pfaden. Dies ist ein echtes Paradies für Wan-derer und Mountain Biker. Das Sportzentrum von Tesserete bietet das ganze Jahr über ideale Bedingungen für sportliche Aktivitäten, Entspan-nung und Erholung.Für einen «Kulturspaziergang» besonders zu empfehlen sind die Wälder unweit der Badean-stalt mit der archäologischen Stätte San Cle-mente, dem Torre di Redde und der Einsiedelei San Bernardo auf dem benachbarten Hügel über Comano. Auch das Kloster Santa Maria del Bigorio, gegründet 1535, das den ersten Sitz der Kapuzier-Brüder in der Schweiz beherberg-te, ist ein Besuch wert.

Le couvent de Santa Maria del Bigorio, fondé en 1535 et premier siège suisse des frères capucins, mérite aussi une visite.

Not to be missed is the excursion in the woods behind the recreational center where the archeological site of San Clemente, the Redde tower and the Eremo di San Bernardo can be admired. Worth a visit is the nearby convent of Santa Maria del Bigorio, founded in 1535, first Swiss headquar-ters of the Cappuccini friars.

Il paesaggio, spettacolare e molto vario, va dalla zona del lago, a 270 metri, fino al Monte Lema, la cui vetta supera i 1600 metri, offrendo ai visitatori panorami suggestivi e attività di ogni genere. Più di 300 km di sentieri attraversano il Malcantone, collegando le sue località più pit-toresche: chi cerca relax e tranquillità non verrà sicuramente deluso. Anche chi vuole fare sport sarà accontentato: nella regione, infatti, si pos-sono praticare attività sportive di ogni tipo, dal tennis al golf, dall’equitazione al nuoto, dalla vela al windsurf. I L’insediamento originario del paese è discosto dalla principale arteria di traffico e lambisce il lago. Oltre alle viuzze interne, caratteristica è la sua ampia Piazza Lago. Fa parte del comune anche la frazione di Torrazza, sullo stretto di La-vena, dietro al Monte Sassalto o Monte di Ca-slano noto per la sua ricca flora prealpina, tanto da essere citato tra le componenti naturali di in-teresse nazionale.

Abgesehen von den Innengäs-schen, ist sein grosser Platz am See ein Merkmal des Ortes. I Nello zoo, situato sulla riva del fiume Magliasina in un suggestivo ambiente faunistico, si trovano oltre 100 animali di tutto il mondo.
Più di 100 animali di tutto il mondo: leoni, leopar-di, pantere, serval, procioni, nasua, gibboni, reso ed altre razze di scimmiette, pappagalli: ara, ca-catua ed altri esemplari esotici, e tanti altri. Pos-sibilità di fare grigliate e picnic. Il piccolo zoo al Maglio si trova sulla riva ombreggiata del fiume Magliasina. Lo zoo è particolarmente adatto ai bambini, poiché gli animali possono essere ac-carezzati e nutriti.

I Navighiamo le meravigliose acque del Lago Ce-resio fino a Cassarate. Dopo il viaggio in battello proseguiamo in funicolare fino al Monte Brè e ci godiamo la meravigliosa vista su Lugano e sul massiccio del Monte Rosa. Passeggiamo quindi fino al nucleo di Brè paese, dove visitiamo le vec-chie case di pietra e le testimonianze artistiche. Visita del Museo Wilhelm Schmid, della chiesa e del cimitero. D Wir fahren mit dem Schiff in den malerischen Gewässern des Lago Ceresio bis nach Cassara-te. Nach der Fahrt mit dem Schiff, geht es weiter mit der Seilbahn bis zum Monte Brè. E We will navigate on the splendid waters of Lake Ceresio to Cassarate. After the boat trip, we will proceed by cable car to the top of Mount Brè to enjoy the breath-taking view of Lugano all the way to the Mount Rosa massif. Numerose sono le guide gastronomiche che parlano dei ristoranti ticinesi. Certe volte è diffici-le districarsi tra le tante. Da anni propongo una classifica comparando i vari fiori, stelle, cappelli. Una lista presentata per la prima volta nel vade-mecum edito da Ticino Turismo e distribuito ai partecipanti alla sessione delle Camere Federali nel 2001. Nel frattempo varie guide sono scom-parse e quest’anno ci sono a disposizione solo la Michelin, la GaultMillau e la Leoni a Tavola. In tutte primeggia il ristorante Arté di Cassarate. Ma ecco la lista dei migliori; si tratta di quelli se-gnalati da tutte e tre le guide:

I piatti della tradizioneI Un passato legato alla terra e agli alpeggi ha
prodotto piatti tipici semplici ma gustosi, simili a quelli che si trovano nella vicina Lombardia. Tra i piatti più amati della cucina ticinese si trovano la busecca (la trippa), il risotto, le carni arrosto o in salmì, il brasato, il pesce di lago al forno, in padella o in carpione. E naturalmente i formaggi, dai freschi agli stagionati, gustati sul pane bigio o usati per arricchire la polenta. E per concludere il pasto, una fetta di torta di pane e una grappa o un bicchierino di nocino, liquore a base di noci di cui si dice solo i frati abbiano la ricetta originale.

und den Almweiden hat typische einfache aber schmackhafte Gerichte entstehen lassen, ähn-lich denjenigen, die man in der benachbarten Lombardei findet. Zu den beliebtesten Gerich-ten der Tessiner Küche gehören die Busecca (Kutteln), das Risotto, gebratenes Fleisch oder in Salmì, Schmorbraten, Süsswasserfisch im Ofen oder in der Pfanne zubereitet oder mari-niert. Natürlich Käse, von Frischkäse bis gereif-ter Käse, auf Graubrot oder zur Verfeinerung von Polenta. Zum Abschluss der Mahlzeit ein Stück Brottorte (Torta di Pane) und einen Grappa oder ein Gläschen Nocino, einem Likör aus Nüssen, von dem man sagt, dass nur die Mönche das Originalrezept kennen.

des plats typiques d’une grande simplicité et d’une grande saveur, semblables à ceux que l’on trouve en Lombardie voisine. Parmi les mets les plus appréciés de la cuisine tessinoise, on trouve la busecca (les tripes), le risotto, les viandes rôties ou braisées, les civets, les pois-sons de lac au four, à la poêle ou en escabèche. Et naturellement les fromages frais ou matures accompagnés de pain bis ou utilisés pour la polenta. Et pour terminer le repas une part de gâteau au pain, un verre de grappa ou de liqueur de noix dont on dit que seuls les moines ont la recette originale.
Traditional dishesE Because of its past, linked to agriculture and
pastures, Ticino has developed many traditional dishes that are simple but very flavourful, similar to those one can find in nearby Northern Italy. Some of the most popular and loved entrees are slow-simmered tripe, risotto, roasted and braised meats, stews, oven-baked fresh water fish and lake fish marinated in vinegar. Cheese, too, plays an important role in the local cuisine: both fresh and aged cheeses are enjoyed either with whole wheat bread or on top of piping hot polenta. And to end the meal one can indulge in bread pudding, a shot of grappa or a glass of nocino, a walnut liqueur originally made by friars.

Il grotto, una tradizione ticineseI Un locale rustico, spesso all’ombra di alberi se-
colari, con tavoli e panche di granito, che per-mettono di gustare il pranzo al fresco. Il “grotto” è una vera e propria istituzione ticinese dove si trovano abitanti del posto e turisti, giovani e an-ziani, per gustare piatti nostrani: salametti, pesci in carpione, vitello tonnato, arrosto (freddo o cal-do a seconda della stagione), cazzöla, funghi, formaggi e formaggelle. E per placare la sete si sorseggia dal “tazzino” del buon Merlot ticinese o magari anche del Barbera con la gazzosa.

Salamet-ti, marinierte Fische, Vitello Tonnato, gebrate-nes Fleisch (je nach Jahreszeit kalt oder heiss serviert), Cazzöla (Eintopf mit Schweinefleisch), Pilze, Frischkäse und Hartkäse. Um den Durst zu stillen, können Sie sich ein Gläschen des guten Tessiner Merlots oder vielleicht lieber einen Barbera mit Gazzosa (Zitronenlimonade) genehmigen.

Il vinoI Grazie al clima mite e soleggiato, il Ticino è un
luogo ideale per coltivare i vigneti. Vero prota-gonista delle tavole ticinesi è il Merlot, che nulla ha da invidiare a quelli provenienti dal Borde-aux. Quest’uva regala un vino dal colore rosso vivace ed intenso, dai toni equilibrati e di buon corpo. Il sapore, piuttosto asciutto, si abbina bene ai piatti della regione, dalle carni grigliate ai formaggi stagionati. Una visita alle cantine vi-nicole della regione può essere un’ottimo modo per scoprire i vini ticinesi, magari accompagnati da insaccati e altre prelibatezze tipiche del ter-ritorio.

Der Wein hat einen eher tro-ckenen Charakter und passt gut zu den Gerich-ten der Region, von gegrilltem Fleisch bis hin zu gereiftem Käse. Ein Besuch in den Weinkellern der Region ist eine hervorragende Gelegenheit, die Tessiner Weine kennen zu lernen, am besten zusammen mit den typischen Wurstwaren (In-saccati) und anderen Spezialitäten der Region.
