Piecing Instructions

Block A

1. Create HST blocks by sewing the longest edges of (1) 8” Fabric G HST and (1) 8” Fabric I HST together using a ¼” seam. Press seams toward Fabric G.

2. Repeat to create (8) HST blocks. HST blocks should measure 7½” unfinished.

3. Sew (2) 8” Fabric G HST onto the sides of the HST block created in Steps 1-2 to create a large triangle. Follow diagrams for accurate fabric placement. Press seams toward Fabric G.

4. Repeat on all HST blocks to create (8) triangle units.

Fusible Web Cutting Instructions

• On the paper side of fusible web trace (64) Template A, (64) Template B, (16) Template C, (88) Template D, (16) Template E, (5) Template F, (65) Template G, (5) Template H and (5) Template I. Cut out each template just outside of the drawn line. Cutting instructions listed for Fabrics A – L indicate which template and the quantity to fuse to each fabric.

5. Sew (1) 3” x 22” Fabric A strip onto the longest edge of the triangle unit created in Steps 3-4. Press seams toward Fabric A. Repeat on all (8) triangle units.

6. Sew (3) 4½” Fabric D HST and (2) 4½” Fabric J HST together to create a row of HST as shown in the diagram. Press seams in one direction.

7. Repeat to create (16) HST rows using the diagrams shown. (8 HST rows will be used in Block B instructions.)

8. Complete Block A by sewing together units created in Steps 1-7 and (1) 8” Fabric A HST as shown in the diagrams. Trim Block A to measure 14½” by trimming off excess Fabric A present from the 3” x 22” strip.

9. Repeat to create (8) Block A.

Block B

10. Create HST blocks using the same piecing techniques described in Block A Steps 1-2 using (1) 8” Fabric H HST and (1) 8” Fabric I HST. Repeat to create (8) HST blocks. HST blocks should measure 7½” unfinished.

11. Sew (2) 8” Fabric H HST onto the sides of the HST block created in Step 10 to create a large triangle. Follow diagrams for accurate fabric placement. Press seams toward Fabric H.

12. Repeat on all HST blocks to create (8) triangle units.

13. Sew (1) 3” x 22” Fabric A strip onto the longest edge of the triangle unit created in Steps 11-12. Press seams toward Fabric A. Repeat on all (8) triangle units.

14. Complete Block B by sewing together units created in Steps 10-13, (1) HST row unit created in Block A instructions and (1) 8” Fabric A HST as shown in the diagrams. Trim Block B to measure 14 ½” by trimming off excess Fabric A present from the 3” x 22” strip.

15. Repeat to create (8) Block B.

Appliqué Block A

16. Sew the longest edges of (1) 10½” x 14½” Fabric A rectangle and (1) 4½” x 14½” Fabric C rectangle together using a ¼” seam. Press seams toward Fabric C. Repeat to create (8) Appliqué Block Colorway 1. Blocks should measure 14½” x 14½” unfinished.

17. Repeat the piecing process described in Step 16 using (1) 10½” x 14½” Fabric A rectangle and (1) 4½” x 14½” Fabric B rectangle. Press seams toward Fabric B. Repeat to create (8) Appliqué Block Colorway 2. Blocks should measure 14½” x 14½” unfinished.

18. Fuse (4) Fabric E Template A, (4) Fabric K Template B and (1) Fabric F Template C onto each Appliqué Block Colorway 1 to complete (8) blocks. Use diagrams for accurate template placement.

19. Fuse (4) Fabric J Template A, (4) Fabric K Template B and (1) Fabric E Template C onto each Appliqué Block Colorway 2 to complete (8) blocks. Use diagrams for accurate template placement.

20. Stitch around all appliqué using a decorative stitch of your choice to secure in place.

21. There should be a total of (8) Appliqué Block A Colorway 1 and (8) Appliqué Block A Colorway 2 that measure 14½” x 14½” unfinished.

Appliqué Block B

22. Press (4) 14½” Fabric A squares in half twice to create (4) quadrants on the Fabric A square and to mark the exact center of the square.

23. Remove the paper from all Templates D, E, F, G, H and I. Do not fuse or use an iron at this time.

24. For each 14½” Fabric A square use (11) Fabric D Template D, (11) Fabric F Template D, (4) Fabric I Template E, (1) Fabric I Template F, (13) Fabric F Template G, (1) Fabric K Template H and (1) Fabric F Template I.

25. Using the exact center of the Fabric A square as your guide, fuse Templates F, H and I first and in alphabetical order. Template I will be fused to Template H. Template H will be fused to Template F.

26. Fuse (13) Template G pieces on top of the Template F circle.

27. Sew the ends of (4) Fabric I Template E together using a scant ¼” seam to create a circle.

28. Arrange all Template D pieces onto the Fabric A square. Alternate between Fabrics D and F as you go. Use (22) Template D pieces. Before fusing, ensure that Template E can overlap all of the ends of Template D to hide the end of the stem.

29. Fuse Template D pieces and Template E in place to complete Appliqué Block B.

30. Stitch around all applique using a decorative stitch of your choice to secure in place.

31. Repeat to create (4) 14½” blocks.

Quilt Assembly

32. Begin sewing the quilt top together in quadrants. (2) quadrants will be made up of (4) Block A, (4) Appliqué Block A Colorway 1 and (1) Appliqué Block B. (2) quadrants will be made up of (4) Block B, (4) Appliqué Block A Colorway 2 and (1) Appliqué Block B. Use the arrows in the diagrams for pressing instruction.

33. Sew together the (4) quadrants as shown in the diagram.

34. Using the same appliqué methods described in Appliqué Block B instructions, fuse (1) Fabric I Template F, (13) Fabric F Template G, (1) Fabric K Template H and (1) Fabric F Template I in the center of the quilt top as shown. Stitch in place to secure appliqué.

35. Begin Border 1 assembly by sewing (5) 1½” x WOF Fabric I strips together end to end using a diagonal seam. Repeat twice.

36. From the long Fabric I strips, trim (2) 1½” x 84½” strips for the side borders and (2) 1½” x 86½” strips for the top/bottom borders.

37. Begin Border 2 assembly by sewing (5) 4” x WOF Fabric B strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Repeat twice.

38. From the long Fabric B strips, trim (2) 4” x 86½” strips for the side borders and (2) 4” x 93½” strips for the top/bottom borders.

39. Attach Border 1 to the quilt top by sewing the side borders on first followed by the top/bottom borders. Press seams outward.

40. Attach Border 2 to the quilt top by sewing the side borders on first followed by the top/bottom borders. Press seams outward.

Finishing

41. With the backing fabric laying taut, place batting and then quilt top to form quilt sandwich.

42. Baste sandwich. Quilt as desired.

43. Bind with Fabric L to finish quilt.
