HalSonics™ – Field History

A total of 10 successful HalSonics runs were performed during the years of 2000-2001 on SC completion installations. In each of the 10 runs, 10 commands weresent downhole, per job procedure, to activate the tool, and all of them wereproperly detected and decoded.

Typical well conditions for the GOM trials can be condensed as followsTD : 9,000 - 17,000 ftFluid : Typical 12 - 14 ppg brine with 2 - 3000ft of high viscous pillsDeviation : 30 - 65 deg Air gap : 100 - 150ft

Signal path : Tubing

HalSonics firing head set the industry record on a trial in the North Sea firing TCPguns in a well 20,450ft deep. This was also the first time the HalSonics systemwas used in a high viscosity, oil based mud.

TCP firing head trials well conditionsTD : 8,000 - 20,500 ft

Fluid : 12 - 14 ppg brine. Oil based mud

Deviation : NA

 Air gap : 0 - 1000ft

Signal path : Tortuous path. Combination of tubing and annulus ports

HalSonics™ – Benefits Overview

Differentiators:

Can transmit signal with an air gap present in the workstring or tubing

Small surface footprint - helicopter transportable, safer rig floor operations

Low-pressure pulses for safer operations

Benefits

Reduces rig time to land completion or pump sand control job

Reduces completion or pressure pumping intervention risk

Reduces fluid losses to the formation

Maintains constant hydrostatic pressure on the formation

Allows placement of equipment downhole in locations not available to conventionalintervention techniques

Improved completion flexibility - communications protocol allows for setting of up to

16 tools in the hole, which can be actuated in any desired sequence
