Dear Members and Friends of HSK, How was your week? I came home last Sunday afternoon thinking of the song we sung in English and Portuguese, no Japanese. And I was pleasantly surprised to hear everyone trying to sing in English. Wonderful. I am still asking the Lord to give us many musicians but in the meantime I will sing with the “American Band” in a loud voice. I think the songs we sing have beautiful melodies and words with much meaning. And if we are singing to please our God, I think He likes our words and the melodies. What do you think? Last Wednesday, because the weather was so good, I decided to ride my scooter to the church. I did not want to be late for the afternoon prayer meeting so I hurriedly tried to get on it. But…one foot got stuck somewhere and the scooter fell over with my leg under it. As I fell over, I moaned because I knew it was my mistake. Then I felt embarrassed because I thought that whoever saw me was probably laughing. The conclusion: A slight cut on my arm, a big scratch on the scooter, and a warning to myself to be more careful. Now who has done the same thing? If you have been keeping up with recent events in Hong Kong, you know that riots there have been huge. Maybe you think that China has good reasons for resisting those rioters but in China, Christians are really suffering because of the government.

It seems that some Chinese Christians are fleeing China in order to escape being sent to jail. This oppression of Christians and the destruction of church buildings by the Chinese government is not right. I hope you are praying for those Christians. The news I read daily is filled with what the American president has failed to do or done wrong. Although Mr. Trump isn’t pleasing many people, I think the man has the desire to do what is right….to be honest. “Pastor, you know he has been married three times and attacks people with rude words and doesn’t go to church most of the time. Pastor, he probably isn’t a Christian!” But what if Mr. Trump trusts in the Lord? ‘O Lord of hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You!’ (Psalm 84:12). I hope we are praying for the leaders of the nation we were born in. Yes, your nation may be far away from Japan and that leader may be someone you do not like. However, have we forgotten what God said about ‘kings and all who are in authority’? “First of al l ,…entreaties and prayers, petit ions and thanksgiving be made on behalf of al l men…”(1 Timothy 2:1-2). “For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior but for evil….’(Romans 13:3). May you be blessed more this week! Your pastor……Ben

This Saturday(July 20th)…the children’s event, JOY CLUB, will begin at 10:30 AM. This month’s activity will include singing, prayer, a Bible story, new game, and snacks. Your pastor enjoys this event very much because of what the children will learn. He believes that parents who attend Joy Club will also learn more about what to teach their children. The “train” will leave on time!

Our pastor has at least…six new English songs which he wants everyone to learn to sing in Japanese. Most of

the songs have already been translated into Portuguese but not Japanese. So, who wants to try to translate a song into Japanese?

Maybe you can do it! Please ask him for one or even two songs if you want to try to translate from English into Japanese.

If you wish to be water baptized…please speak to our pastor or Yukio-san as soon as possible. You do not have to be a member of HSK in order to have this experience. However, this church believes in being entirely covered with water so…you will become completely wet. “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ”(Galatians 3:27).

Last Monday, the water con-nection…located in the parking area had to be replaced because a car

probably hit it. If you park near that new connection, please be careful not to hit it. It is not difficult to replace but it is a little expensive. Thank you.

Next Sunday(21st)…all ladies from the Philippines are invited to stay after the morning meeting for a meeting with Ruth-san. Someone will probably bring

a Costco cake, Costco iced tea, Costco chick-en, Costco bread and …..(Really?) Well…maybe! Anyhow, the food is for those ladies! Everyone e lse can

expect to eat something else like….chili hot dogs! (Really?) No, probably not! …………………………………………… Romans 7 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus

Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

Romans 8

1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,

4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

What God did on the Day of Pentecost was dramatic and powerful. One of the Biblical symbols of the Holy Spirit is wind, and the wind in the upper room that day wasn’t just a little breeze; it was “violent,” according to Acts 2:2. In many of us, we need just such a strong wind to blow out the rubbish that has accumulated. Many of our churches need a typhoon like visitation of the Spirit of God. We need a major renovation of our spiritual lives, not just a rearrangement of the furniture. Think how whole cities and towns would be affected if Christians churches began praying for the wind of God to blow upon them. Praise God for His ability to lift us above ourselves! Otherwise, where would all of us be? Especially people such as my wife, Carol, and me, who never got to go to Bible college or seminary…others who say, “I don’t have this talent or ability.” We can

take courage from the fact that the fishermen and others Jesus chose —-losers by the worlds standards—-were invaded by God and raised to amazing places. The same tongues that had engaged in a petty argument about who was the greatest, the same tongues that had denied the Lord and the fact of His resurrection were now overtaken by heaven itself and put to use “declaring the wonders of God” (Acts 2:11). The Holy Spirit is still greater today than all our shortcomings and failures. He has come to free us from the restraints and complexes of insufficient talent, intelli-gence, or upbringing. He intends to do through us what only He can do. The issue is not our ability but rather our availability to the person of the Holy Spirit.

Please pray for the salvation of Suzuki Masami-san’s daughter, Yukina-san. May she soon come to know the Lord soon.

Tsuyako-san is believing for the salvation of her whole family. Let’s pray for this to happen soon.

A friend of HSK, Teresa-san, is dealing with serious health problems. She needs a miracle real soon. Please pray for her.

Nhors-san is asking for healing for her brother, Israel Barbosa-san. He has an enlarged heart. Who will pray for him?

Once again let’s believe for the salvation of Ronaldo-san and Andrea-san’s son, Luan-san.

A friend of Morita Susan-san, Helen-san, still needs a miracle and her husband to be saved.

Ruth-san has requested prayer for the mission trip to Cambodia in August. She

and the Christians from Osaka are believing for many lives to be touched.

Let’s pray for there to be Christian politicians elected in Japan.

Will you pray for all the visitors who come to HSK? May their lives be touched by the Lord this week. More than 100 visitors have attended HSK each year for several years!

Let’s remember to pray for our church leaders this week. May they all have God’s wisdom for every situation.

The new emperor of Japan needs to come to know Jesus. Please pray for him and his family this week.

Who is praying for the leader of their nation? The Philippines? Brazil? America? …………………………………………………………… Note: If you do not want your prayer request in the church bulletin, please mark that clearly on your prayer request card.
