El presidente Barack Obama y la mandataria brasileña Dilma Rousseff se comprometieron a agilizar la emisión de visas para turistas y viajeros de negocios de sus respectivos ciudadanos, al tiempo en que acordaron crear un comité bilateral para cooperación en defensa. Durante la reunión que sostuvieron en la Casa Blanca, ambos jefes de estado decidieron seguir trabajando para incluir a Brasil en la lista de países cuyos ciudadanos no requieren visas para visitas a Estados Unidos de hasta 90 días de duración, y crear en Brasil un proceso de corta duración para emitir visas a profesionales. Con el propósito de propiciar los viajes de empresarios y turistas, Obama ordenó incrementar en 40% la emisión de visas a brasileños durante 2012. La secretaria de Estado Hillary Clinton anunció que abrirá próximamente dos consulados en Belo Horizonte y Porto Alegre para “satisfacer la demanda en países donde han sobrepasado nuestra capacidad. Hemos progresado”. Hasta marzo de este año, los consulados de Estados Unidos en Brasil procesaron 296.637 solicitudes de visas, 56% más que el mismo período de 2011, que había sido el más alto registrado hasta entonces.

Venezuela continuará con la posición única y coherente de apuesta al diálogo y a la paz en el conflicto interno colombiano, como lo ha expresado de manera constante el presidente Hugo Chávez, quien ha propuesto las negociaciones entre las partes desde hace más de una década, dice Roy Daza, diputado del Parlamento Latinoamericano, capítulo Venezuela. “Lo más importante para Venezuela en este momento es que el proceso avance y se defina más o menos en un tiempo prudencial. Eso es bueno para Colombia y Venezuela, y para toda América Latina”, comentó. Destacó el parlamentario, que desde la primera fase de estas conversaciones, iniciadas desde hace ocho meses, y que comenzarán una nueva etapa el próximo 8 de octubre, con mesas de diálogo entre las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) y el gobierno colombiano; se ha desatado una ola de optimismo entre la gran mayoría de los sectores políticos de todo el continente. “La paz en Colombia es causa común de toda América Latina, no hay partido o gobierno que esté en desacuerdo con que se llegue a una tregua y un acuerdo de pacificación”, indicó.

A un nivel, que ya roza el insulto, está llegando la batalla por la Presidencia de Venezuela, a menos de un mes de que los locales vayan a las urnas, el próximo 7 de octubre.“Chávez es un caballo cansado sin propuestas de futuro”, grita Capriles. Este ha sido uno de los más recientes episodios de choque verbal entre los dos candidatos, en medio de un clima de desconfianza que tiene, en el dudoso nivel de los resultados de las encuestas, a uno de sus principales protagonistas. Mientras hay firmas que le dan a Chávez una ventaja de 18 puntos, hay otras que ponen a ambos en empate técnico o en, al menos, una diferencia que no supera los 5 puntos. Lo claro es que el elemento común de casi todos los estudios es que Capriles crece, mientras que Chávez se mantiene con el mismo porcentaje o baja ligeramente. La razón: que Capriles está siendo más efectivo en la búsqueda de los indecisos. En ese ambiente crispado, el discurso de Chávez no dista mucho del de otras batallas electorales y se basa en tres puntos claramente estructurados. El primero es que va a ganar de manera arrolladora, como lo confirman ciertas encuestas, y a partir de ahí descalificar el voto opositor. “Majunche no va a remontar ni (por) que se ponga un cohete”, dijo Chávez recientemente.

Para muchos, el 9/11 no es un recuerdo lejano. Todavía es muy real. Muchos enfrentan día a día la pérdida de sus seres queridos. Once años han pasado, cuando cuatro aviones secuestrados por terroristas se estrellaron contra el World Trade Center, el Pentágono y un campo en Pensilvania

matando a casi 3.000 personas en cuestión de horas. El 11 de septiembre reveló verdades terribles y verdaderas. La terrible es obvia: El mal es real, y los hombres diabólicos pueden causar graves daños. Pero a pesar de todo hay un gran coraje en el espíritu americano, demostrado en el Ground Zero y en el Pentágono. Y luego están los líderes mundiales, que siguen haciendo comentarios sarcásticos para provocar a los Estados Unidos, y hacen chistes con líderes de Irán sobre las armas nucleares a pesar de la destrucción que causaron después de esta tragedia nacional. Estados Unidos nunca fue lo mismo después de esta catástrofe. Nuestra paz se disipó.Es muy triste que después de esta horrible tragedia, los líderes latinoamericanos todavía tienen tratos con estos terroristas y aplauden sus ideologías deformadas, para así ellos obtener más poder y gloria. Como se aproximan las elecciones en Venezuela, hay que recordar el 9/11 para que vayamos a votar para que nunca se repita esta historia.

For many, 9/11 is not a distant memory. It’s still very real. Many face day-to-day struggles to cope with the loss of loved ones.Eleven years have past when four U.S. planes hijacked by terrorists crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people in a matter of hours. Sept. 11th revealed terrible and great truths. The terrible was obvious: Evil is real, and evil men can inflict great harm. But through it all there is a deep well of courage in the American spirit — courage displayed at Ground Zero and at the Pentagon.

And then there are the world leaders, who continue to make inflammatory comments to provoke the United States, and joke with Iranian leaders on nuclear weapons despite the wrath that was left behind after this national tragedy. America was never the same after this. Our peace was shattered.It is quite sad that after this horrific tragedy, Latin American leaders still have dealings with these terrorists and applaud their warped ideologies for the sake of more power and glory. As elections near in Venezuela, we must remember 9/11 when we go to the polls so that history never repeats itself.

La presentadora de TNT Movie Club y Tu Desayuno Alegre de Univisión, es una de

las animadoras más queridas de Miami. Su versatilidad como modelo y actriz le permitió alcanzar en poco tiempo fama en toda Latinoamérica y Estados Unidos.

Ximena nació en Medellín, Colombia, es la tercera hija de una familia de cinco hermanos. “Somos tres mujeres y dos hombres. Con mis hermanas me llevo apenas un año de diferencia, ellos siempre han sido un gran apoyo para mí”, comentó la presentadora. Su madre es educadora, tenía un preescolar en Colombia y Ximena antes de convertirse en actriz ayudaba a su mamá a cuidar a los niños. Durante su adolescencia además de colaborar con el negocio familiar, Ximena se dedicó también a la gimnasia olímpica. “Me apasionaba, a los doce años competí en los juegos nacionales y obtuve la medalla de plata, fui subcampeona,” recuerda con emoción. Cada una de estas experiencias, sin esperarlo, fueron llevando los pasos de Ximena más cerca de la fama. “Recuerdo que fui a acompañar a una amiga a hacer

un casting para un reality show y cuando estaba en la sala de espera, me preguntaron si me gustaría participar, yo les dije que no sabía nada de actuación, que lo único que sabía era gimnasia olímpica, entonces me dijeron que hiciera la audición, aproveché lo que sabía de gimnasia y realicé una danza, les gustó y recibí la gran sorpresa de quedar seleccionada”.

Fue así como Ximena participó y ganó el reality show colombiano “Protagonistas de Novela”. Luego, hizo una serie para la televisión “Francisco el matemático” con esta actuación fue nominada como actriz revelación para los Premios TV y Novelas en el 2004. Ximena trabajó como actriz y presentadora de TV en Colombia por tres años y luego decidió tomar un nuevo rumbo, venir a Estados Unidos.

Un país de puertas abiertasHace casi seis años que Ximena vive en Miami. “Vine por un casting para el canal Fox Sports en español y quedé seleccionada para trabajar en el programa ‘Jorge Ramos

en Vivo’. Luego, comenzaron a surgir ofertas para ser la imagen de reconocidas marcas en campañas publicitarias de televisión. Miami para mi es lo máximo, desde que llegué aquí se me abrieron muchas puertas y oportunidades” afirma con alegría la presentadora de TV.

Ximena realizó varios comerciales con artistas muy famosos como: Juanes, Chino y Nacho y Pitbull, entre muchos otros. Una muestra de estos trabajos se puede apreciar en su canal de you tube: http://www.youtube.com/ximenacordoba. Aunado a esto, Ximena es actualmente la presentadora de TNT Movie Club, un programa sobre Cine que se transmite en toda Latinoamérica. “Me siento privilegiada de trabajar para TNT, el canal realizó muchas audiciones para esta posición y estar aquí es una muestra de que lo estoy haciendo bien, de que invertir en prepararme y buscar superarme ha valido la pena”. Cabe destacar que Ximena estudió Periodismo para la televisión en la Universidad de Miami y también realizó otros cursos de drama, vocalización y actuación.

Ximena es multifacética, ya que además de ser animadora para TNT es presentadora junto a Jessica Fox, Carlos Gastelum y Valentina Patruno en “Tu Desayuno Alegre”, un programa que se trasmite por Univisión de lunes a domingo en la mayoría de los mercados hispanos de Estados Unidos y América Latina. “Me siento muy realizada y satisfecha.

En Tu Desayuno Alegre me divierto mucho, es lo máximo poder trabajar con un grupo de personas que son como mi familia, no me siento cohibida, al contrario me apasiona hacer un programa tan ameno y divertido y además que es visto por tantos latinos.” Otra muestra de la versatilidad de Ximena es su reciente actuación en la serie estadounidense “Magic City” del canal Starz, la cual recrea a la Ciudad de Miami en el año 1959 y narra la historia ficticia del empresario Ike Evans con la mafia de esa época. Cabe destacar que Ximena en esta serie interpretó el rol de una Miss Venezuela y se trató del primer personaje que hace hablando sólo en inglés.

Proyectos futurosEn años anteriores Ximena trabajó para Telefutura como reportera en “Veredicto Final” y actualmente con este mismo canal hace un programa llamado “Fiesta de Película”, por lo tanto, cuando le preguntamos sobre sus proyectos a futuro nos comentó: “ya tengo bastante con lo que hago actualmente y me estoy concentrando en hacerlo bien, así que por el momento no tengo ningún nuevo proyecto. Si me gustaría entrar más en el mercado americano, en un futuro también me gustaría hacer cine y ser tan famosa como es ahora Sofía Vergara”. Ximena es una persona espiritual, nos confesó que todas las mañanas cuando se levanta se toma un café y sale al patio de su casa para hablar con Dios, ella siente

que cuando está en contacto con la naturaleza está más cerca de él. Nos comentó que siempre hay que tener fe. “Recuerdo cuando hice el reality show en Colombia, yo les decía a mis compañeros que había que tener fe como un granito de mostaza, hay que soñar siempre. Yo soy un sueño hecho realidad, que me iba a imaginar que la vida, que Dios me iba a permitir cumplir todos estos logros.”

Short Sale es una opción para aquellos propietarios de viviendas quienes se encuentran en una situación económica que les impide honrar sus deudas y quienes desean dejar esa propiedad. Negociar un Short Sale consiste

en solicitar al banco o institución financiera, que permita la venta de la propiedad por menos cantidad de dinero que la hipotecada. Esto originara un saldo deficitario. Ventas cortas aprobadas antes de listar las propiedades, la liberación total del pago sobre la primera hipoteca, hasta $3.000 para relocalización del prestatario y exclusiones fiscales, son algunos de los incentivos que los programas HAFA y MDRA, han proporcionado.Este proceso es una alternativa al Foreclosure, puesto que alivia al propietario de un stress más prolongado y de gastos adicionales. Sin embargo, es un proceso de negociación muy complicado,

con muchas partes interesadas involucradas en el mismo (primeras y segundas hipotecas, deudas con Asociaciones) y con diferentes niveles de aprobación. Hay mucho que considerar antes de tomar esta decisión, ya que es un largo proceso y el reporte de crédito del vendedor se verá afectado. Además, la liberación de la obligación del vendedor de pagar el monto deficitario debe ser claramente establecida. Short Sale es definitivamente un proceso que debe ser manejado por profesionales capaces y con experiencia en el área, a fin de conseguir el resultado deseado e evitar el foreclosure.

De acuerdo a un artículo publicado en el Washington Post en Septiembre de este año, las propiedades en el mercado están tomando menos tiempo en venderse si se comparan con las ventas del año anterior; esto refleja el aumento en la demanda de los compradores y la reducción del número de viviendas para la venta, ya sea ventas regulares o propiedades de Bancos.De acuerdo a la asociación nacional de Corredores de bienes raíces en uno de sus últimos reportes público dice que el tiempo en que las viviendas están para la venta en el mercado, se han disminuido de 98 a 69 días comparado con el mismo mes del año anterior. Un tercio de las ventas en el mes

de Julio fueron propiedades que estuvieron en el mercado menos de un mes. La tendencia de que las casas se venden más rápido es una prueba más de que el mercado inmobiliario de EE.UU. está en camino a la recuperación, cinco años después del estallido de la burbuja de la vivienda. Las buenas noticias: el promedio en una hipoteca fija a 30 años está por debajo del 4% de interés anual ayudando a impulsar más ventas lo que se refleja en los precios de la viviendas que también han comenzado a subir firmemente, lo que podría estimular mas las ventas en los meses por venir.Para los futuros vendedores o compradores, los precios de sus casas están en camino a revaluarse otra vez quizás no a los niveles vistos anteriormente pero a un crecimiento normal de 3 a 4% anual, lo que aun deja a algunos dueños por debajo del agua por un largo tiempo, en cual casos la mejor manera de vender la propiedad es a través del Short Sale o la venta corta. Es un gran momento del año, (sobre todo ahora que por fin

empieza a refrescar un poco), para poder visitar nuevos restaurantes, tiendas y lugares de entretenimiento. Me encantó The Village at Gulfstream Park en Hallandale, el nuevo destino del sur de la Florida que está situado junto al famoso Casino y las carreras de caballos y que abrirá su temporada el 1 de diciembre.Allí se siente una sensación como

si estuvieras en el Caribe ya que es al aire libre y es muy pintoresco, pero no dejes que eso te engañe. Hay algunas tiendas increíbles, para todos los gustos y presupuestos!Pero antes que empiecen las carreras de caballos te recomiendo que des una paseadita por el Village para que conozcas la hermosa variedad de tiendas y restaurantes. Yo no había estado allí antes, pero me quedé sorprendida por la variedad de boutiques de modas y tiendas exclusivas. Y creas o no, algunas tiendas son muy asequibles, incluso encontré unas camisas súper lindas a $10. Si te gusta un agradable paseo por las tiendas, te encantarán las pintorescas calles y los cafés al aire libre, esto puede ser un gran

escape para que te reúnas con tus amigas y amigos. La gran variedad de restaurantes incluyen, y que por cierto son algunos de mis favoritos como: Blu Sushi, Brio Tuscan Grille, Cantina Laredo, Texas de Brazil, III Forks, The Cheese Course, Bar Martini, y The Playwright Irish Pub. Y si quieres un poco de entretenimiento después de la cena, puedes ir a bailar a las discotecas, “Santo” y el “Greenhouse”. It is a great time of the year, especially now that it’s cooling off a bit (finally), to start exploring new restaurants, shopping and

entertainment. There is no better place than The Village at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, South Florida’s newest destination located adjacent to the famous Casino and horse track that will open its season on December 1st. It has an almost Caribbean feeling to it as it is open air and quaint, but don’t let that fool you. There is some amazing shopping to be had here! But before the horses start racing I recommend a trip to the beautiful array of unique shops and restaurants. I hadn’t been there before but I was amazed at the variety of unique fashion boutiques and home accessory shops. And believe it or not, some stores are extremely affordable; I even found super cute $10 shirts. Take my word for it there is something for everyone. If you like a nice walk and window shopping, you will love the quaint streets and outdoor cafes, great day out for the girls. The variety of cuisines include, and some of my favorites: Blu Sushi, Brio Tuscan Grille, Cantina Laredo, Texas de Brazil, III Forks, The Cheese Course, Martini Bar, and The Playwright Irish Pub. And if you want some after dinner entertainment and dancing, two of the newest nightclubs, “Santo” and “Greenhouse” are located in the Village. There are too many shops and restaurants to list here, so go out to the website at www.thevillageatgulfstreampark.com, it has a great interactive map that will help you plan a culinary and shopping adventure. I ended up spending the day, lunch and then dinner. Nice little escape!

Port Everglades is renovating and modernizing four cruise terminals and expanding one berth to prepare for more growth, officials say. Port Miami will invest more than $30 million in the next few years to enhance its cruise facilities, which will include new passenger boarding bridges, an upgraded baggage system and expanded areas for security screening, officials said. Port Everglades saw 3.9 million cruise passengers in fiscal year 2011, and had an economic impact of $15.3 billion of which cruising accounted for $1.8 billion, according to port data. For the last four years PortMiami has welcomed about 4 million cruise passengers annually.

In a recent special joint meeting of the Hollywood City Commission and Community Redevelopment Agency Board,the Commission passed an amendment to the Development Agreement and Ground Lease for the new Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort that updates the timeline for the construction of the project, details new financing plans and provides additional revenues to the city that have been negotiated with the developer - Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, LLC. The Commission, in its role as the CRA board, also agreed to a new compensated funding agreement that increases the CRA’s investment in the project. The existing lease and development agreement call for the City and CRA to receive more than $33 million in income in present day dollars. The amendment to the agreement would increase the total expected revenue from the project to an estimated $66 million in present day dollars. Under the proposed agreement, the CRA would increase its investment in the project from $10 million to $23 million. The luxurious, 349-room Margaritaville

Hollywood Beach Resort is planned for a five-acre site between Johnson and Michigan streets. The resort will include convention and ballroom space, retail stores, restaurants, full-service spa and fitness center, a dual lane wave rider, and other amenities. Plans also include a 1,600-square-foot Landshark Bar and Grill on the Intracoastal Waterway featuring dock space for boat access. (Courtesy City of Hollywood) The project is designed to be a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver resort, a new boat dock with eco-tours along the Intracoastal, and more entertainment and outdoor seating at the beach theater. The developer is currently working with Broward County to re-map the construction site, a process known as platting that can take several months. The developer also has applied for building permits and has secured environmental permits from the state. The Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort promises to bring “Changes in Latitudes and Changes in Attitude” along central Hollywood Beach.

A typical dish, that’s easy, delicious and you can freeze it in portions to have for lunch / dinner and just heat up when you’re in a hurry. Kind of similar to beef stew but with a Latin Flair!Ingredientes

1 diente de ajo5 tomates maduros4 ajíes dulces125 gr. de papas½ cucharadita de comino molido1 ramito de albahacasal al gusto500 gr. de carne de res1 taza de vino seco¼ de taza de vinagre1 cebolla grande1 hoja de laurel

PreparacionCorte la carne en trozos y póngala un rato en adobo de vinagre, sal y vino seco. Prepare un sofrito con cebolla picada, un diente de ajo entero, la hoja de laurel, los tomates troceados y sin semillas, los ajíes y la sal.Dore bastante la carne (sin el adobo) y luego añádalo. Cocínela con el adobo a fuego lento aproximadamente 5 minutos. Agréguele una taza de agua, el comino, la albahaca bien cortada y las papas picadas. Cocínelas hasta que se ablanden. Al servir saque el diente de ajo y la hoja de laurel. Acompáñelo con arroz blanco y para una versión más saludable, con arroz integral. Puedes agregarle aceitunas al gusto.

PreparationCut meat into chunks and marinade for a bit with vinegar, salt and dry wine. Prepare a sauce with chopped onion, a whole garlic clove, bay leaf, tomatoes sliced and seeded, peppers and salt.Brown the meat (without the marinade) and then add it. Cook it with the marinade to simmer about 5 minutes. Add a cup of water, cumin, basil and chopped potatoes. Cook until tender. When serving remove the garlic and bay leaf. Serve with white rice, and for a healthier version, with brown rice. You can add Spanish olives to taste.

We know that it is not always easy for parents to tell if their

child has an orthodontic problem, but through a complete dental examination that includes x rays, we can spot upcoming dental problems early. The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that your child receive an orthodontic check-up no later than age seven. De origen venezolana esta emprendedora empresaria y cabeza del proyecto “Miami Fashion Trends” decidió poner fin a tan extenuante odisea, la búsqueda del traje de baño perfecto. “El proyecto comienza al ir a una tienda y encontrar que la mayoría de los modelos no se ajustaban a las necesidades de la mujer cotidiana, no habían colores llamativos, no sentía que había exclusividad”. Así fue como una tarde de chicas, café, risas y sueños encendió el motor que impulso el portal web “Miami Fashion Trends”. “Empezamos a indagar en los mercados más potenciales. Como todo negocio empezamos a hacer encuestas entre nuestras amigas y familiares acerca de sus inquietudes, colores, telas y texturas. Todo esto aunado a la ardua tarea de crear una tabla con las tallas más cercanas a la mujer real. De allí, el esfuerzo mancomunado por crear un espacio online por y para la mujer. “Es poder reflejar que aunque tengamos unas libras demás, si escojo un producto adecuado yo también me puedo ver bien”.

Desde los 13 años comenzó a montarse en tarima y desde entonces las luces y los aplausos lo han acompañado. “Ha sido muy excitante, no he llorado de casualidad”, así definió Kevin sus primeras horas de grabación en la emblemática “Cypress Bay High School”, ubicada en la ciudad de Weston, lugar que lo formó y vio crecer. “Me han tratado como familia desde que yo era alumno, adoro su “staff”. Nuevo portal de información para la familia

La Ciudad del Doral estrenó su nueva sede de Gobierno

ubicada en 8401 NW 53rd Terrace, Doral, FL 33166. El Nuevo edificio consta de 3 pisos, 250 puestos de estacionamiento y una amplia zona de áreas verdes que tiene un parque para niños. El proyecto costó 22 millones de dólares y lo realizó Codina Partners y Flager Construction.En el primer piso se encuentra la Administración Municipal (City Clerk) y un salón para exposiciones de arte y eventos culturales; en el segundo piso se encuentra un centro de multiservicios o de soluciones, en el cual los residentes podrán tramitar sus permisos, licencias con muchas más facilidad, ya que en esta planta del edificio están ubicados todos los oficiales que atienden al público y hay un representante de cada Departamento a su disposición. En el tercer piso se encuentra el Departamento de Finanzas y Recursos Humanos. Además cuenta con varias salas de reuniones y un centro de entrenamiento. Yvonne Soler-McKinley, Gerente de la Ciudad del Doral (City Manager) comentó sobre la nueva sede de gobierno: “los diseñadores del edificio estuvieron con nosotros por dos semanas, ellos nos siguieron por todas partes para ver quien interactuaba con quien y a partir de allí ellos nos dieron una propuesta de distribución del espacio. Pero, se hicieron ajustes, porque nosotros queríamos más que un simple ayuntamiento, deseábamos tener también un centro

cultural y tomando en cuenta eso, así se diseño este edificio”.Por su parte, el Alcalde del Doral, Juan Carlos Bermúdez comentó: “este es un edificio que para mí va a durar cien años, lo más importante es que lo hicimos sin subir impuestos, no hay ningún centavo que se deba en este edificio, fue dentro del presupuesto y se ha completado a tiempo. Así que le dejo, porque ya mi mandato como Alcalde esta llegando a su fin, a los residentes del Doral un sitio donde no sólo se asisten las necesidades del Gobierno, sino que es un espacio en el que se pueden hacer exposiciones de arte, eventos al aire libre utilizando el parque y las zonas verdes, reuniones; además, el diseño del edificio lo hace hasta cierto punto emblemático y diferente, es sin duda uno de los legados que yo le dejo a la comunidad del Doral”.El Alcalde también comentó que espera antes de terminar su mandato, inaugurar el edificio de obras públicas en la 102 Avenida. “Allí vamos a tener espacio no sólo para el Departamento de Obras Públicas, sino para Petróleo, para el Departamento de Policía y cosas de esa índole que hasta ahora hemos tenido que ir a otros lugares para hacerlo. Yo pienso viendo hacia adelante que es muy importante que nuestra comunidad se enfoque en que el próximo gobierno haga las cosas a tiempo, dentro del presupuesto, sin añadir costo a la vida, yo creo que se puede hacer y lo hemos hecho.”
