Ngā Hinemanu me Ngā Paki will present Oral and Tradional History to the Tribunal pre tweneth century and how the arrival of the Crown and its agencies had an impact on our puna and the ongoing impact it has on the wellbeing of our Hapū and Iwi today. The Hearings will include the following presentaons; Whakapapa, rohe site visits, Pokopoko (Winiata Te Whaaro), Cultural loss, Inter Hapu and Iwi relaonships, and our puna Involvement in the Nave Land Court. Tena koutou e te Iwi, Tēnei te mihi ki a koutou i runga i ngā ahuatanga o te wā. Ka mihi, ka tangi, ka tuku poroporoaki ki ngā mate kua wheturangia haere atu ra koutou ki o tātou mātua puna….. E moe ra. E te Iwi kua tae te wā kia hoki i ngā maumahara ki ō tatou puna i haere ki te Koo Whenua Maori kia whaiwhai mō te mana o te whenua me ngā kaiakitanga mō ngā whakapuranga. He wero tēnei ki te karauna mō ngā he katoa kua pa ki runga i a tātou. The Trust has been working over the past six months to finalise phase two research and prepare for Waitangi Tribunal Hearings. We are commencing the first Hearing in March 2016 for Nga Korero Tuku Iho and then progressing to technical Hearings. More informaon is within the Panui. The Trust would like to extend our appreciaon and thanks to the Claimants, Whanau and Hapū for your ongoing support and as we approach the final stages of our case book we look forward to a posive outcome and strong claim for Ngā Hinemanu and Ngā Paki which will set the bench mark for our case to the Crown. Registraons have increased but we have a lile way to go. If whānau have not registered please encourage them to do so ASAP. We know there are many whānau who sll need to register.

NAU MAI HOKI MAI KI TE KAINGA

Ngā Kōrero Tuku Iho Hearings are the first Hearings to take place in our Inquiry District.

Ngāti Hinemanu me Ngāti Paki will present Oral and Traditional History to the Tribunal pre

twentieth century and how the arrival of the Crown and its agencies had an impact on our

tīpuna and the ongoing impact it has on the wellbeing of our Hapū and Iwi today.

The Hearings will include the following presentations;

The Trust has been working over the past six months to finalise phase two research and

prepare for Waitangi Tribunal Hearings. We are commencing the first Hearing in March 2016

for Nga Korero Tuku Iho and then progressing to technical Hearings. More information is within

the Panui.

The Trust would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to the Claimants, Whanau and

Haka powhiri / waiata

Whānau will be gathering at the Winiata Marae on the following dates if you are around and free, nau mai haere mai.

5pm 27th — 5pm 28th Feb, 5pm 4th — 5pm 5th March & 3pm—6pm 20th March

KIA KAHA KI TE TAUTOKO TE KAUPAPA

Those who cannot attend the waiata wil be uploaded to cloud on the internet.

We will send a panui when completed!

Those whanau who wish to attend please contact the office to confirm your

booking by emailing [email protected] or txt 0278656256. We need

numbers for catering and accommodation purposes.

Kai Mahi

If you are able to volunteer your services to support with logistics and general

mahi on the Marae please also make contact with the office via the above

contact details.

Accommodation and Meals

These are provided for all whānau.

Site and Rohe visits

Buses will only be available for the Tribunal, Claimants/Trust and Kaumatua. All

other whanau will need to provide their own transport.

Transport to the Hearings

Depending on the response from whanau the Trust will make a decision if

transport will be provided from outside of the rohe.

Whanau Attending

You are required to be on the Marae by 8.00am Wednesday 30th March as the

powhiri will commence at 8.30am sharp. A full programme and pre hui will be

held at the Marae 6.00pm with tea on Tuesday 29th.

(a) 30 March – 1 April 2016: Ngāti Hinemanu me Ngāti Paki NKTI hearing.

Veterans Claim Claimants have participated in the Veterans claim and hearings.

We are now awaiting on Tribunal final report

Fresh Water Claim Due to the Tribunal time table we are awaiting on an

outcome and further directions

Urgency Claim opposing the Heretaunga Tamatea Settlement

This claim is in relation to the Tamatea Heretaunga settlement commercial

redress offer from the Crown to the Heretaunga Tamatea claims. This offer

includes the Kaweka and Whakarara (Gwavas) Crown Forests where Ngāti

Hinemanu me Ngāti Paki have customary and mana whenua interest.

The case is pending and further updates will be circulated.
