    www.part66.comWhat is an EASAPart-66 B Licence?From 28 September 2006, for aircraftabove 5700 kg, and 28 September2008 for all aircraft, the only Licenceacceptable for use in Europe forsigning an aircrafts Certificates ofRelease to Service will be the EASAPart-66 Licence.

    The EASA B Licence comes in severalcategories depending on the aircrafttype and equipment fitted.

    An EASA Part-66 B Licence is validthroughout the EU and those countriesstill affiliated with the Joint AviationAuthorities (JAA). In addition, manyother countries around the worldrecognise the Part-66 Licence orhave their own version of it.

    Currently, 30% of UK LicensedEngineers work overseas, where theirexperience and qualifications are ingreat demand.

    About the courseThe International Centre forAerospace Training (Cardiff and ValeCollege, situated at Cardiff Airport)offer this innovative Part-66 B Licencethrough distance learning.

    In order to gain a Part-66 B Licenceyou will need a minimum of 5 yearsexperience within a Part-145organisation, but this may besupplemented by a recognisedapprenticeship or military service,at the discretion of EASA.

    This course has been designed to beflexible and so has been broken downinto three (3) stages. Once you havecompleted a stage you will be able tomove onto the next one when you feelready, allowing you to advance throughthe programme at your own pace. Inaddition, there is no fixed start date toyour studies, allowing you to join theprogramme at any time. All thiswithout breaking your work schedule.

    Who should join thiscourse?This course is designed for civilianaircraft mechanics and technicians,HM Forces personnel with 1st or 2ndline experience and other engineers

    or technicians with a recognisedapprenticeship intending to moveinto the industry. This course is notsuitable for those with no practicalexperience.

    What will I study?All B licences cover the 10 coremodules:

    1. Maths2. Physics3. Electrical Fundamentals4. Electronic Fundamentals5. Digital Techniques/Electronic

    Instrument Displays6. Materials & Hardware7. Maintenance Practice8. Basic Aerodynamics9. Human Factors10. Aviation Legislation

    The remaining 2 or 3 modules will bespecific to the Licence category youwish to take.

    Each module has a Part-66 MultipleChoice Examination. In additionmodules 7, 9 and 10 require an essayexamination. More detailed informationon your course is available on requestor via the website. www.part66.com

    How will I study?With this groundbreaking programmeyou can study in your own time and atyour own pace with ICATs innovative,interactive study material. Using ourmaterial, you can study withoutsacrificing your work or familycommitments. From the start, you

    will be put in touch with an allocatedcourse tutor, as a dedicated point ofcontact to aid you with your studiesand offer regular guidance andsupport.

    Study modules will be provided in anonline format. The specially developedinterface allows you to navigatequickly and easily to any part of themodule. Text is clearly displayed inthe centre of the screen. Interactivediagrams can be launched from theright-hand side of the interface orusing the icon included in the text.To give you regular feedback on yourprogress, each module contains SelfAssessment Questions (SAQs). Youcan set your own timetable around theway you live, but it doesnt mean thatyou are alone.

    A range of online resources havebeen created to aid your examinationpreparation. Study Plans are availableto help you plan your study inpreparation for Revision Tutorials.

    Expert tutors are available to answerany queries you may have regardingthe material that you are studying.Practice Questions on each topichelp you consolidate each area andProgress Indicators allow you to testyour exam technique against the clock.

    The programme provides theopportunity to visit our modernfacilities for Revision Tutorials beforesitting your Part-66 examinations.The classroom based revision tutorialsheld at ICAT are designed to boostyour knowledge in the days priorto an examination. Expert tutorsreinforce your learning, resolve anyproblems and to help you prepare forthe exam. Planning your studies andattending the revision tutorials willmaximise your chances of success ineach module, whilst keeping stressesof studying and examinations to aminimum.

    Examination fees are not included inthe cost of this course.

    As ICAT has Part-147 Approval,examinations are set and marked inhouse, but you can sit examinationsat any Part-147 centre. Part-66Examinations have a 75% pass mark.The number of questions will vary

    from module to module, but eachexamination will consist of a multiplechoice paper where each question hasthree possible answers. Three moduleswill also have additional essay papers.Certificates are issued on successfulcompletion of each examination.
