A s of August 15, 2013, based on the UKM Board of Directors’ Decision 85/2013, the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS) consists of five research centres: Centre for Asian Studies (iKAS), Centre for Occidental Studies (iKON), Centre for Latin American Studies (iKAL), the Centre of Western Asian Studies (iKRAB) and Centre for African Studies (yet to be operationalized). The new configuration impacts the areas of knowledge management, position of academic staff, governance structure, and graduate studies program. This exhibition gave recognition to one of the best literary figures of the Western world who is of Czech origin, Franz Kafka. “We will be there in five hours’’, says Jorge Manuel Luna Angulo, the Vice-Dean of the school who is also the program coordinator for the event. His foremost endeavor today is to bring me across Costa Rica to a city called Liberia for another 2 hour journey to the conference venue: Universidad Nacional Costa Rica 40th Anniversary event – “Challenge and Competition of Regional external commerce”, November 7-8, Campus Nicoya, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

While Spanish is the official language of Costa Rica, English is widely used as well. But for the sake of wider knowledge diffusion, they have assigned a translator for me Dr. Didier Villarreal.
