2014—2015
Serving the Community since 1985
Presidents Report Welcome to our 2014 / 2015 Rotary year. It has been a week of changeovers, and I should start with the best. Thursday saw Beaumaris hold yet another great event with over 104 guests attending. We had almost all our members and partners, plus another 44 guests. These included District Governor Merv & Kay Ericson, DG Elect Tony and Kathy Monley, Mayor Laurie & Jenny Evans, Local Member Murray Thompson, Charter Mem-ber Tim & Bev Ives along with friends, family and visiting Rotarians. Bob gave an excellent summary of the past year, and recognised some key achievements and con-tributions by individuals. He also awarded Paul Harris Fellows to Ken & Joan Dugan for their contribution to our club and Rotary, and our own members Kerrie Geard and Tony McKenna. As expected Greg Every and John Manks helped en-sure our farewell for Bob and Sue was to the standards that people expect from Beaumaris. This was ably nar-rated by Peter Flude, and the highlight was “Our Lady of the Night”, Roy, who made certain we had some fun as well. Feedback later from a number of guests confirmed that our changeover is one not to be missed.
Thanks also must go to the club members who have attended changeovers for Hampton, Sandringham, Bentleigh Moorabbin Central and District. The District event at Kingston Links Golf Club on Saturday was rep-resented by Bob and Sue, Trish and Wolf, Tony and Ken & Shirley. Beaumaris received a 2013 -2014 Rota-ry Club Central award for Setting Strategic club goals in Rotary Central that “Engage Rotary, Change Lives”, thanks to the efforts of our members in their projects and activities. We also witnessed our very own Tony

McKenna receive another Paul Harris Fellow. Your work with District and our club is something that tru-ly deserves the recognition. A fantastic effort Tony! As we move forward, I have highlighted some of the key focus areas in the year ahead, and the fact we will have a slight change in our meeting process with the chair running a quiz, happy, sad and “we should know” dollars along with the normal duties of the chair. Geoff Abbott will help us through the first meeting on July 3rd along with our Guest Speaker Jacqui Chaplin talking about “Mind Health”. We have excellent ongoing projects and activities, plus some new ones coming. I am excited about our year ahead. We have an excellent club, in fact in my view the best, along with very dedicated members and I am proud to be leading the club for the next 12 months.

Changeover Night
The VGC main room was filled with about 100
guests, visiting Rotarians, RCOB Members, family
and friends to farewell President Robert and wel-
come PE Ken.
The Club’s inaugural President Tim Ive was there,
as he has been for every Changeover.
President Robert reviewed the year that was
against the Rotary Year theme
It was a strong year with significant fundraising
($77,000) and disbursements ($84,000).
Further details can be found in the Annual Report
which is on the Website.
Robert saw the year as one of strong engagement ,
(as witnessed by the excellent Conference attend-
ance) and changing lives (as witnessed by the large
number of organisations we helped both locally and
internationally).
Robert also addressed the need for change and
suggested that we should always look for any
changes which might benefit an already strong
Club. He particularly singled out the need for more
inter Club cooperation on projects.
Certificates of Appreciation were awarded as fol-
lows;
Bayside Mayoral Golf Day
John McMillan - (Rotary Club of Sandringham), Jim
O’Brien, Peter Flude
Car Parking for the Masters and World Cup
Roy and Pat Seager
Club Service
Ken Mirams ,Sergeant David Hone
David Lea , Greg Every
Antony Nixon, John Manks.
Paul Harris Fellows were presented as follows;
Ken and Joan Dugan. (First non Rotarians to re-
ceive PHF from RCOB other than partners)
Kerrie Geard (PHF with Sapphire)
Tony McKenna (PHF with Sapphire).
Ken Mirams was inducted as President by DG Elect
Tony Monley. Ken introduced his incoming Board
and the first new change; the shelving of the Ser-
geant's role.
It was then time to farewell now PP Robert as the
RCOB SS* dragged up many high (and low) lights
from his past including an old acquaintance from his
days frequenting the night life in one of Sydney’s
more notorious environs.
Thanks to the excellent comparing of Tony Phillips
and the brevity of the speeches the night finished
ahead of schedule.
Once again the VGC staff meals and service were
of a very high standard and the facilities first class.
And so we begin a new Rotary Year with a new
Theme.
