Dear Children,We have prepared an entertaining and learning game for you where you can win a prize. We will take you and your parents, grandparents, friends or other family members to lovely places in the Krkonose Mountains and its foothills, called Podkrkonosi, which you may not know. You will see interesting parts of the highest Czech mountains and their foothills and meet some people who live there.

Your Task:You have to visit, on foot or by bike, the attractions marked on the map. When you get to the spot, you have to answer a simple question or do a task. After doing that, you will get a stamp on your map. At some of the attractions, called TOP, you will also get a small present.

Prizes:For 10 stamps, you will get a special Krkonose colouring book. For 20 stamps, you will get Pairs with drawings of Krkonoses nature, fairytale characters and other interesting things. For 30 stamps, you will get a colour raincoat a poncho.

The Krkonose Mountains and the Podkrkonosi, Protected by KrakonosThe highest Czech mountains are protected by the dominating mythical character Krakonos, the master of the mountains. You may know him from the Krkonose fairytales or childrens TV stories created after a motif by writer Bozena Simkova.

The presence of Krakonos can be felt in every single place in the Krkonose. We want you to feel it, too. We have written something about his personality for you. We would like to introduce him to you right now.

Krakonos is a wise man. He keeps an eye on the landscape, its crystal-clear rivers, darting fi sh, gurgling brooks, large mixed forests, fragrantly blooming meadows, colourful blossoms full of bees, mysterious inaccessible underground places, diverse wild little animals and singing birds, and watches the friendly locals and visitors. He encourages us to be humble, knowledgeable and hard studying.

Krakonos does not live alone with us. He has friends: the Jay Bird, Hance the mother and Mr. Gamekeeper.

The Jay Bird knows just about everything. It tells us whatever it knows. It has quick wings and sharp wits. It reports the news and whatever interesting is happening anywhere in the mountains and their foothills.

Hance, just like every careful mother, will often accompany you. She will present fairytale paths, recommend places where you can meet the mountain people, where fairs, fetes and cultural events are held. She will inform you about historical monuments and invite you on interesting trips in the mountains and their environs.

Mr. Gamekeeper is a connoisseur and lover of the mountains, a sportsman body and soul. An enthusiastic cyclist, persevering hiker, skilled skier and lover of nature, he will guide you along educational trails. He looks after hiking and skiers terrain markings, and makes sure you have up-to-date maps so you can avoid losing your way in the mountains.

You can meet Krakonos and his friends wherever you go. They will accompany you everywhere.
