Important information

You have 180 minutes to solve the practical exercises.

Devices allowed for the exam: computer assigned to the candidate, paper, pen, pencil, ruler, sealed notepaper.

You can take notes on the internal sides of the exercise sheet and the notepaper, these should be submitted at the end of the exam but their content will not be evaluated.

The exercises can be solved in any order.

Please, pay attention to frequent saving (every 10 minutes); it is suggested that you save your work every time you start a new exercise.

You should save your exam work in the exam directory that corresponds to your name. Check that this directory is accessible; if it is not accessible, notify the supervising teacher at the beginning of the exam.

Save your works in the exam directory and at the end of the exam check that every solution is in the given directory because only those solutions can be evaluated. Check that the files to be submitted are readable because files that cannot be opened cannot be evaluated.

The source files can be found in the exam directory.

In the case of programs that do not support setting sizes in cm you can use the conversion factor 1 cm = 40 px.

It is suggested that you read through the exercises first then solve the individual exercise parts one by one.

If your computer has technical problems, indicate it to the supervising teacher. The fact of indication and the observed problem will be recorded. The lost time will be added to the duration of the exam. If the problem is not of computer nature, the correcting teacher should take the description of the case in the record into consideration. (The system administrator cannot help the candidate with the solution of the exercises.)

At the end of the exam on the first page of the exam document you should indicate the number and name of files created and submitted by you and located in the exam directory and its subdirectories. When finishing the exam, do not leave the room until you have done so and have shown it to the supervising teacher.



1. Comedy

File muchado.txt contains the beginning of William Shakespeare’s comedy “Much Ado About Nothing” and file shakespeare.jpg contains the playwright’s picture. Format the document according to the given example and the description. (Do not use repeated spaces and empty paragraphs for laying out the text.)

1. Using a word processor open file muchado.txt, which is UTF-8 encoded and contains tabs. Save your work in the default format of the program as comedy.

2. The default font format of the text is 11 points, Times New Roman (Nimbus Roman), the spacing between the paragraphs is 0.

3. In the document the left and right margins are 3.5 cm, the top margin is 3 cm.

4. Insert picture shakespeare.jpg next to the title of the play, modify it proportionally so that its height becomes 5 cm. Place the picture according to the example.

5. On the first page the line spacing is 1.5 lines, in the remaining text it is 1 line.

6. The font style of the first four paragraphs is bold, the font sizes are 18, 24, 14 and 11 points, respectively. Apply a spacing of 6 points after each of the first four paragraphs and 36 points before the 4th paragraph. Set alignment according to the example.

7. Create a footnote of size 8 points for the name of the Hungarian translator, Dezső Mészöly with the following text: “Dezső Mészöly is a Kossuth Prize winning Hungarian writer, poet, translator and dramaturge”

8. Set capital letters for the appropriate words according to the example.

9. On the first page the list of characters should have an indent of 1 cm from the margin.

10. Set the bottom margin so that the text in the example fits on the first page.

11. “ACT ONE” should start on a new page.

12. From the second page onwards the paragraphs should be separated by a spacing of 6 points. The hanging indent for the format shown in the example is 3 cm and for the first line it is 0 cm. Align the text of the whole dialogue justified according to the example.

13. Set the font style and the alignment of the first five lines on the second page according to the example.

14. The spacing before “ACT ONE” and “Scene 1” is 30 points and the spacing after them is 18 points. Set a spacing of 18 points after the fifth paragraph on the page.

15. Set page numbering according to the example for even and for odd pages.

Example for the Comedy exercise:



2A Snooker

Snooker is a type of billiard game. Create a presentation on the topic of the game according to the example and the description. Save your work in the default format of the program as snooker. The text of the presentation is in file text.txt, which is UTF-8 encoded. The pictures required for the presentation are in files table.png and champion.jpg.

1. The background of each slide is green. The text is pale yellow, RGB code (240, 240, 130), the title is yellow, RGB code (255, 255, 0).

2. The font type of each text in the presentation is uniformly sans serif and different from the default font.

3. On the 1st slide apply font sizes 40, 28 and 20 points according to the example. The font style of the title is bold. Apply a two-level list on the slide.

4. On the left side of the 2nd slide insert the picture of the table used for the game from file table.png and on the right side the photo of the world champion of 2008, Ronnie O'Sullivan from file champion.jpg. The labels of the pictures are above the picture on the left and below the picture on the right (according to the example). The font size of the text is 36 points. The pictures and the labels should be aligned centered relative to each other.

5. On the 3rd slide the collision of two balls is shown. On the slide five balls of the same size and the same shadow are represented by circles according to the example as follows:

a. For each ball the shadow is represented by an ellipse of dark green border and filling rotated by 30 degrees that stretches behind the ball.

b. Of the balls one is white and the other four are red, the colour of the border is the same as the filling colour for the balls.

c. The animated collision is demonstrated with the white ball and one of the red balls, these should be aligned centered vertically relative to each other and should touch each other.

d. The white ball should float in on click from the left, slower than the default speed and should stop upon collision.

e. The red ball should float out to the right with similar speed after the arrival of the white ball, without click.

f. The shadow of the white ball should be hidden by the red ball after the collision.

2B Alfa Bravo Charlie

In air traffic and military telecommunication unanimity is important, that is why the standard for spelling was created based on the English alphabet. Create a web site introducing this using the provided files base.htm, alphabet.txt and airplane.jpg.

1. Copy file base.htm with name index.html into the directory that contains your solution files.

2. Set the followings on the web page:

a. The title appearing in the header of the browser should be the same as the text of the first paragraph.

b. The background colour of the page is always LightSkyBlue (colour with code #87CEFA), the text colour is always DarkBlue (colour with code #00008B) and the colour of the links is always FireBrick (colour with code #B22222).

c. The first paragraph, that is, the heading should be heading of level one aligned centered.

d. The other paragraphs should be justified.

3. Set a link for each occurrence of the word “alphabet” in the text (a total of four occurrences!) that leads to page alphabet.html that will be created later.

4. Create file alphabet.html with the page settings used for file index.html.

5. The first paragraph, that is, the title should have the same content and format as the first paragraph on page index.html.

6. Create a table that consists of 2 columns and 1 row and does not have a border. Set the table width to 100%.

7. Create a table in the left-hand cell according to the example. Its text is found in file alphabet.txt. In the file the data are arranged according to the example and separated by spaces. Set a border of width 2 points for the table. This table should appear within the other table aligned right. You do not have to set the column widths in this table.

8. Insert picture airplane.jpg into the right-hand cell of the table and align it left.

9. Insert text “Back to the text” under the table.

10. Set a link for this text that leads back to page index.html.

3. Scone

During the solution take the followings into consideration. • Whenever possible, use a formula, function or reference in the solution. • There are parts in the exercise that use the results from a previous question. If you could not

solve the previous part completely, use its solution as it is, or instead of a formula resulting in a number enter an arbitrary integer and work on with this value. This way you can receive marks for that exercise part as well.

The desk-keeper of a scone bakery takes notes of the orders all day and creates a closing summary at the end of the day based on them. In file order.txt (which is a UTF-8 encoded text file tagged by tabs) we received the order data of a day and the pricelist.

It is important to know that consumers who buy more than five of a given type of scone get a 10% discount off the price of the scones above five.

1. Open file order.txt using a spreadsheet processor so that the first read data is placed into cell A1. Save the table in the default format of the spreadsheet processor as scone.

The meaning of the columns of the source data is:

Scone code The identifier of the ordered scone type (the desk-keeper records this upon taking an order)

Order The number of scones ordered from one type Type The scone type Code The identifier of the scone type Price The price of the scone

2. Insert two columns after the Order column according to the example and enter the text of the headings into the two cells of the first row. The meanings of these are:

With discount The number of scones above five that should be considered when calculating the discount

To be paid The price calculated for an order

3. In the cells of column C (With discount) determine the number of scones whose price corresponds to the sum to be paid using a function. Take into consideration that those who buy more than five scones of a given type get a 10%-discount from the price of the scones above five. (For example, for 10 scones only the sum equivalent to the price of 9.5 scones should be paid.)

4. In column To be paid calculate the price of the order items from the numbers modified with the discount and with reference to the price list with a function that can be copied flawlessly.

5. In cell I1 type “Number” and in range I2:I7 determine how many pieces of the different scone types were sold based on the sales data. (If required, you can write auxiliary data to the right of column N.)

6. In cell K1 type “Total number of scones” and in cell K2 determine the total number of scones sold.

7. In cell L1 type “Revenue” and in cell L2 calculate the total revenue.

8. Set unit “Ft” for the cells that contain monetary values; the numbers should have 0 decimal figure.



9. Set thin cell borders for the cells containing data but the other cells should appear without cell borders in the print preview.

10. Format the cells of the first row according to the example. Change the column widths so that the table has a clear layout.

11. The cells containing text should be aligned left, the cells containing monetary data should be aligned right and the other cells containing numbers should be aligned centered.

12. Represent how many pieces of the different scone types were sold on an embedded column diagram.

− The diagram should not include a legend.

− The title “Daily sales” should have font size of 20 points, font style should be bold and font type should be Courier New (Courier).

− The filling of the columns should be light orange and their border should be dark blue.

4. Airport

In order to help the planning of safe air traffic the data of airports were made available to the public. Among others it is important because the heavier cargo planes can land only on concrete-covered runways. The data of the runways of Hungarian airports are available in file runways.txt. It is important to know that the runways are rectangular.

1. Create a new database with name airport. Import the data table into the database as runways. The txt type data file is ISO8859-2 encoded, tagged by tabs and its first line contains the field names.

2. Upon creation set the suitable data types. Add a unique key named number to table runways.

Table:

runways (number, airport, length, width, material)

number The identifier of the runway (autonumber), this is the key airport The name of the airport (text) length The length of the runway in metres (number) width The width of the runway in metres (number) material The material of the top layer of the runway (text); its value is either grass

Create the solution of the following exercises. Save the solutions with the names given in brackets.

3. Using a query, list every data of the concrete-covered runways. (3concrete)

4. Create a query that lists the runways whose length is 1500 metres or more. Display only the name of the airport and the length of the runway, do not display any other data. (4long)

5. Using a query, give the name of the airports that have more than one concrete-covered runways. (5more)

6. Using a query, determine which airport has the greatest grass-covered runway (of the greatest area) and determine its area as well. (6maxarea)

7. Using a query, give the names of the airports that have only grass-covered runways but no concrete-covered ones. Display the name of each airport only once in the list. (7grassy)

8. Create a report that displays the length and width of the runways grouped according to the name of the airports, within that according to the material of the top layer of the runway. (8report)
