Agradecimentos
desenvolvimento do homem.

1. Prática de audição – Listening;
2. Prática de conversação e fala – Speaking and Conversation; 3. Prática de leituras – Reading;
4. Prática de produção escrita – Writing; 5. Pronúncia – Pronunciation;
www.linguainglesa.weebly.com 8
Língua Portuguesa’ do Professor Doutor Alcebíades Fernandes Júnior.
iniciante.
Assim, dedique-se, e terá o resultado, simples assim.
Good Journey!

Exemplos: Pessoa A: Hello, how are you?
Hélou, hau a:r iu:? Olá, como está você?
Pessoa B: I am fine, thanks, and you?
Ai ém fain, thanks, and iu:?
simples.
www.linguainglesa.weebly.com 10
Símbolos para Pronúncia Usados Neste Curso:
alguns exemplos:
Fit - /fit/ - pronuncie um ‘i’ normal; Feet - /fi:t/ - pronuncie um ‘i’ alongado, como se fossem dois: i+i;
Ago - /â-’gou/ - ‘gou’ é a sílaba tônica;
April - /’ei-prâl/ - ‘ei’ é a sílaba tônica.
4. /w/ e /y/ – esses símbolos representam um ‘u’ bem curto,
normalmente usado em ditongo ou tritongo, e um ‘i’ bem curto, também usado em ditongo ou tritongo, exemplos: Way – /wey/; year
- /ya:r/; young – /yang/.
Simplesmente abra a garganta e solte o ar.
www.linguainglesa.weebly.com 11
“soprinho”. Exemplos: Thanks – /thanks/; thought – /thó:t/; this –
/dhis/; that – /dhét/.
/:/), exemplos: part - /pa:t/, Iron - /ai:on/.
www.linguainglesa.weebly.com 12
Exemplo: I am a student. Pr + V+ comp. Eu sou um (a) estudante.
Onde:
Pr = pronoun, ou pronome; V= verb, ou verbo;
Comp. = complement, ou complemento.
Pronto!
I am a doctor; I am a person; I am good; I am intelligent, I am fantastic! I work here. I study there. Etc.
variar o pronome (PR): you are good, he is good, they are good, etc.
Good class!!

Lesson 1
1. Relaxamento:
a. Coloque de fundo uma música clássica ou instrumental, de preferência que expressa alegria e não tristeza ;
b. Respire: enche o pulmão de ar, vagarosamente, e depois expire pela boca esvaziando os pulmões – faça isso de três a sete vezes apenas;

oração. Faça quantas vezes forem necessárias até se sentir plenamente confiante de seu domínio;
Observe também o vocabulário e vá memorizando-o;
as palavras.

Lesson Four
In This Lesson:
Text: Joanne’s Life – reading and writing;
General Vocabulary; Plural Nouns;
Conversation Practice.
Text
1. Read the text below: Joanne’s life
Hi, my name is Joanne, I am 27 years old, I am a teacher and I work at
a good school – I love it! I like reading, especially in English, because I study English and I need it for my future, and my job or studies, too. I
am single and I live with my parents, John and Beatrice. I live in California. I have three sisters and a brother. They are nice. I love
them! And my future? I want to study more to get my Master Degree and work at a university. I love teaching. How about you?
apenas as palavras desconhecidas. Não traduza tudo, palavra por
palavra.
www.linguainglesa.weebly.com 28
2. Writing:
Comece assim: Hi, my name is... ______________________________

Observations:
1. Little angel – a pronúncia americana é ‘lirâ:l’ ou ‘lidâ:l (o ‘d’ central
Doce’, ‘Querido’, ‘Querida’, etc.
4. ‘Here you are’ é uma expressão idiomática, é o mesmo que ‘here it is’.
‘Wake up’ é acordar; ‘get up’ é levantar-se da cama.
adiantes).
Pattern 6: Present Simple Tense
Conjugation: Affirmative:
Singular:
(Eu) I drink coffee (Tu) You drink coffee
(Ele) He drinks coffee (Ela) She drinks
(Ele/ela - neutro) It drinks
www.linguainglesa.weebly.com 45
Plural: (Nós) We drink
(Vós) You drink
(Eles) They drink
Negative:
I do not drink You do not drink
He does not drink She does not drink
It does not drink
We do not drink You do not drink
They do not drink
PS: contractions: do + not = don’t; does + not = doesn’t.
Interrogative:
Do I drink coffee?
Do you drink coffee? Does he drink ..........?
Does she drink .........? Does it drink.......?
Do we drink.......?
Do you drink......? Do they drink........?
PS: na afirmativa, acrescenta-se ‘s’ para he, she, it.
‘have’, que passa a ser ‘has’ para as terceiras do singular (he, she, it) – lembra-se do pattern 5, não é?

M.: Até mais!
Observations:
1. ‘Likewise’ significa ‘o mesmo a você’, é uma expressão idiomática;
2. ‘Would’ é o verbo auxiliar do futuro do pretérito, ou seja, o passado do ‘will’. Se você disser ‘I will study’ significará ‘eu estudarei’; se você disser ‘I would study’ significará ‘eu estudaria’. As abreviações são
“I’d”, e “I’ll”. Você terá mais detalhes em breve, nas aulas futuras;
3. See you then, significa ‘te vejo então’ – serve para despedidas. Você também pode usar: See you tomorrow – vejo você amanhã, até amanhã;
See you later – vejo você mais tarde, até mais tarde; See you next week – até a semana que vem;
Till/Until tomorrow – até amanhã (é menos comum, mas também se usa);
See you/ya – até mais!
Por exemplo: ‘What about you’ - /uótâ’bau:tiu/ ou
/uórabâu:riu/ - a segunda é a pronúncia americana; e a primeira, britânica.
ok?

Patterns: Revision of Patterns: Comparison between ‘be’
and other verbs in the ‘Present Simple Tense’.
Verb be:
1. Para a primeira pessoa do singular ‘I’.
Affirmative: I am a teacher. Negative: I am not a basketball player.
Interrogative: Am I a doctor?
2. Para as pessoas: you, we, they. Aff.: You are a student.
Neg.: We are not engineers.
Int.: Are they intelligent?
3. Para as terceiras do singular: he, she, it. Aff. He is a psychologist.
Neg.: She is not a nurse. Int.: Is it a pencil?
A common verb: play.
1. Para as pessoas: I, we, you, they.
Affirmative: I play football. Negative: You don’t play rugby.
Interrogative: Do they play handball?
2. Para as terceiras do singular: he, she, it.
Aff.: He plays guitar. Neg.: She doesn’t play chess.
Int.: Does it play the game automatically?
No verbo ‘be’, o auxiliar é o próprio ‘be’ (nas suas três formas – am, is e are); para os demais verbos, no presente simples é o ‘do’ (para I, you,
we, they), e does (para he, she, it) na maioria dos verbos, porém, você só os usa na negativa e interrogativa.

In this Lesson
Text: My Routine – Reading and Writing
Conversation with Peter Paint Exercises
Text: My Routine
Read the text below:
Hi, my name is Peter Paint, I am talking to you, Student, and I’d like to
say that I love studying English, especially when I am listening to music at home. Let me tell you about me a little.
Well, to start, I’d like to tell you about my family: I live in Wonderland, a fantastic place to live! I love it! I live with my father, my mother and
my little sister. I am young, I study in a good school, I go there in the mornings. My Mum prepares my breakfast, and then I eat a fruit and
drink some milk while she washes the dishes.
After that, my mother tells me to brush my teeth, because I always forget it! Well, after some minutes, I get ready for school, put on my
uniform, and I wait for the school bus to take me to study. The bus arrives, I get on the bus and I go... I arrive at the school, say
hello to my friends, and I attend classes from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. I return home, eat my lunch, so I can relax watching TV. I love cartoons, they
are really nice! Especially Super Heroes! I sleep a little in the afternoons. At about 6 p.m., I take a shower then I
play with my little sister. She’s nine. We have dinner at about 8.30 p.m., then my father and mother talk to us, because they love us, they
love to listen to us, and to tell us some stories from their past. It is really important, I think. Sometimes, it is not possible, but that’s ok!
Well, then I finally go to bed! I sleep from 10.30 p.m. to 6 a.m., and... everything starts again!
At the weekends, we always go somewhere, like the cinema, the theatre
or to the park. I love my family! For my future I want to be a storyteller, you know, to
tell stories to a lot of people! Maybe I will write some books! Now, I like listening too! Tell me about you, My New Friend. How is your
life?

JAMAIS TRADUZA! Pense em Inglês, ou nunca vai adquirir domínio sobre a Língua Inglesa;
Boa conversa! Good conversation!

Hi, my name is... _____
www.linguainglesa.weebly.com 64
forma, etc.). Um exemplo: não aprendemos a usar o ‘does’ para he, she, it? Pois é, muitos nativos simplesmente dizem no dia-a-dia ‘she
don’t like it!’
Congratulations!
Just go on!

______ Read the text below: John, Suzanne, Gabriel and Olga.
1. John works hard. He is a teacher. He gives six classes every day.
Right now, he is planning his next classes. He is also correcting some exercises from his students. He loves that! He likes going to
the school and meeting his friends too. He is going to Bahia on his
vacation, but now he is thinking about the good marks his students are getting in a text, some are not so good, though.
2. Suzanne also works hard. She is a lawyer. She helps her clients,
goes to the court, talks to the judge, and right now she is helping her secretary with some documents. She is looking at a computer
website to find some information about a new regulation in the Brazilian Law. She is married and has two kids: a boy and a girl.
She loves them! She is travelling to Fortaleza on her next vacation, but now she is thinking about a case.
www.linguainglesa.weebly.com 68
3. Gabriel is a tennis player. He is a professional athlete and he is
always travelling to participate in tournaments. Right now, he is in a tennis court playing at his best! He is from England, but he is
having a game in France. He is really concentrated, so he can do
his best performance. He sometimes wins, and sometimes he loses. He`s got some gold medals in his collection. This
Tournament is being good for him – he is probably going to be champion again! The first place is difficult to get, perhaps he gets
the second, perhaps the third place – who knows? After the game, he is driving to a restaurant with some friends. He loves his
friends! His family is going too.
4. Olga is a nurse. She treats her patients at California Hospital. She works hard, too. She helps her patients, she puts some bandages
on the wounds, measures the temperature, gives them pills, remedies, and she gives much love to each one! Everybody
considers her a great friend, too, not a simple nurse, but also a good friend. She is from Denmark, but she is living in the USA
right now. She is studying for her Master Degree, and she wants

sister Solange, that is, she teaches children too. She is married and has got three daughters, my lovely nieces Jéssica, Rebecca and Verônicca.
So, I have got six nieces and a nephew. It is a big family, when they are all together, the noise is great too! And I love them all!
Well, now about me: I am married and I live with my wife, Giane. My parents are divorced. My father got married again and lives in another

they are my stepbrother and my stepsister.
Now, how about you? Tell me about your family.

the objects are around the TV. If you look carefully, you can see a little ball behind the desk, and under the table there is a cat sleeping quietly.
Over the dinner table there is a beautiful lamp. You can see some flowers on the right side of the piano, and a vase on the left side.
There is beautiful tapestry far from the central room, and close to the armchair there is an old machine. Next to the machine there is an old
magazine. Now let me tell you about interesting ways to move around. First, you
go to the central room, and there you’ll see good art objects, besides the beautiful tapestry, too. Then, turn left to go to the side room, where
you observe the piano from that old epoch. It is made of wood, probably from Ireland. I have to buy one for me, because I loved that! While you
look through the window, you will smell the perfume of good flowers and
