INSTALLATION OPERATION

REWARD YOURSELF

We wish you many hours of relaxation and pleasure in your sauna. Please read the instructions beneath very carefully in order to find out how the sauna works.

ATTENTION: The installation of the sauna heater and other electrical power supply connection should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with the national electrical code and local regulation.

INSTALLING THE SAUNA HEATERBefore installing the heater, please check the following:- that the following parts have been delivered: heater, control box with temperature sensor device.- that the voltage of the heater and control box is correct and that the control box is suitable for the heater- that the kW of the heater corresponds with the size (m ) of the sauna room. See table 1- that the minimum construction spaces in fig. 1 are strictly followed

FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN FIRE HAZARD.The minimum and maximum m3 depend on the insulation and the surrounding temperature. If the sauna has tileor concrete walls without wooden covering, approx. 1,2m3 for every m2 of tile or cocncrete must be added to thevolume, in order to get the most suitable heater.

MOUNTING THE SAUNA HEATER (See fig 1)Drill the four screw holes using a 3,5 mm drill bit. The screw head should be approx. 3 mm from the wall surface.Make sure that the screws are fastened through the sauna room soft wood lining into a backing board to holdthe heater.Hang the heater on the screws. Tighten the lower screws in order to lock the heater in position.Re-chech your distances from the heater to combustible materials to make sure the stipulated minimum distances are followed.

CONTROL PANELThe control panel is splash proof and may be mounted in the damp area adjacent to the cabin.

SENSOR CONNECTION AND CHECKING1. The housing for the temperature sensor device, should be attached to the wall as shown in fig. 1. A hole must be drilled through the wall for the cable, wich should be passed through to the control device.2. The cable should be carefully attached to the wall to prevent the silicon insulation from being torn.3. CAREFUL Connect the sensor cable to the control device as follows:

4. After the completed electrical installation, switch on the equipment. The temperature should be set around the middle of the scale. When installing the temperature sensor device, the distances stipulated in fig. 1 must be strictly followed

ELECTRICAL HOOK-UPThe wiring diagrams (figs. 2 and 3 ) are to be found in the heater and control box.

The sauna heater MUST NOT be used before firm connection to the electrical system has been established. Theconnecting cable must be at least rubber cable. Table 1.

SAUNA STONESShould be washed before use. Fill the stone compartment from bottom to top with the large stones at the bottomThe heating elements should be covered by the small stones, however, never force the stones between the elements

VENTILATIONSince a sauna bath should be as pleasant and relaxing as possible, proper ventilation is essential.The air circulation in a family sauna should be recycled six times per hour during a sauna bath. The fresh air inlet vent should be below the sauna heater and have a diameter of 60 mm.The outlet should be as far from the inlet as possible and placed diagonally across the sauna from the inlet hole.The outlet should be twice as big as the inlet and approx. 600 mm above the floor.

CONTROLLING THE TEMPERATURE WITH CONTROL BOXThe desired temperature for the sauna is chosen on the thermostat. The heater is switched on by turning the timer.The signal light on the control box lights up to inform that the heater is "ON".After bathing the heater is turned off by turnin the timer to 0-setting. The signal light goes out to inform that the heater is "OFF".

Should you forget to switch off the heater, it will automatically switch off.

The thermostat can be programmed to turn off at a desired temperature and needs to be turned off only when thetemperature in the sauna is altered.

LIMIT CONTROLIf the temperature in the sauna should rise too high (for example due to a thermostat fault) the limit switch in the sensor will turn off the power. When the fault has been rectified the switch may be reset.

TIMERThe timer is the main on/off switch for the controlpanel. To switch on, turn knob clockwise: The Scale provides first a 1-4hr working band, then a 1-8hr preset band which delays the switch on time. The pilot light shows when theheater is on.

Recommended sauna room ventilation

1. Sauna room 3. Electric sauna heater 5. Exhaust flue or channel 2. Washroom 4. Exhaust valve 6. Door to the sauna room 7. A ventilation valve can be installed here to be kept closed while the sauna is heated and during bathing. Inlet vent can be positioned in the A zone. Make sure the incoming fresh air will not interfere with (i.e. cool down) the sauna heater's thermostat near the ceiling. The B zone serves as the incoming air zone, if the sauna room isn't fitted with forced ventilation. In this case, the exhaust valve is installed min 1m higher than the inlet valve. DO NOT ISTALL INLET VALVE WITHIN ZONE C, IF THE SAUNA HEATER'S CONTROL THERMOSTAT IS LOCATED AT THE SAME ZONE.

Installing the sensor near a supply air vent

The sauna room air should be exchanged six times in an hour. The diameter of the supply air pipe should be between 50 and 100 mm. A circular air supply vent (360°) must be installed at least 1000 mm away from the sensor. An air supply vent with a flow-directing panel (180°) must be installed at least 500 mm away from the sensor. Air flow must be directed away from the sensor.

Sauna heater stones

Quality stones meet the following requirements:

- Sauna stones should withstand heat and heat variation caused by vaporisation of the water thrown on the stones.

- Stones should be rinsed before use in order to avoid odour and dust.

- Sauna stones should have an uneven surface to supply a larger surface for the water to evaporate from.

- Sauna stones should be large enough, measuring about 50–80 mm to allow good ventilation

between the stones. This extends the useful life of the heating elements.

- Sauna stones should be piled sparsely in order to enhance ventilation between the stones. Do not bend the heating elements together or against the frame.

- Rearrange the stones regularly (at least once a year) and replace small and broken stones with

new, larger stones. - Stones are piled so that they cover the heating elements. Do not, however, pile a large heap of

stones on the heating elements. For a sufficient amount of stones refer to Table 1 on page 3. Any small stones in the package of stones must not be piled on the sauna heater.

- The warranty does not cover defects resulting from poor ventilation caused by small and tightly

packed stones.

- Structural clay tiles are not allowed. They may cause damage to the sauna heater that will not be covered by the warranty.

- Do not use soapstone as sauna rocks. Any damages resulting from this will not be covered by the stove warranty. - Do not use lava stone as sauna rocks. Any damages resulting from this will not be covered by the stove warranty. - DO NOT USE THE HEATER WITHOUT STONES.

Door switch

The door switch refers to the switch on the sauna door. This switch complies with the regulations laid down in Section 22.100 of the standard EN 60335 2-53. Public and private saunas, i.e. saunas where the heater can be switched on from outside the sauna or by using a timer, must have a door switch. The control panels in Helo OT 2 PS-1 or OT 2 PS-3 can be fitted with a Helo DSA 1601 – 35 (RA – 35) door switch adapter (item number 001017) or a Helo door switch adapter (item number 0043233). For more information, please refer to the use and installation instructions for the DSA device.

We wish you many hours of relaxation and pleasure in your sauna. Please read the instructions beneath very carefully in order to find out how the sauna works. ATTENTION: The sauna heater must be connected to the power supply by a qualified electrician and in compliance with current regulations. INSTALLATION OF THE HEATER For information about how to install the heater, please see page 3. When mounting the heater, please take note of the following: - Follow the given instructions - Wood panelling is the approved material for walls and ceiling in the sauna room. - Check that the wall panelling is secured where the screws will be fastened. - Only one sauna unit may be installed in a sauna room. - The heater must not be surrounded by a compact heater guard. Before installing the heater, please check the following: - That the following parts have been delivered: heater, control box with temperature sensor device. - That the voltage of the heater and control box is correct and that the control box is suitable for the heater - That the kW of the heater corresponds with the size (m ) of the sauna room. See table 1 - That the minimum construction distances in fig. 2 are strictly followed MOUNTING THE SAUNA HEATER (See fig 2) Drill the four screw holes using a 3,5 mm2 drill bit. The screw head should be approx. 3 mm from the wall surface.Make sure that the screws are fastened through the sauna room soft wood lining into a backing board to hold the heater. Hang the heater on the screws. Tighten the lower screws in order to lock the heater in position. Re-chech your distances from the heater to combustible materials to make sure the stipulated minimum distances are followed. MAIN CONNECTION The cable used must be at least rubber coated HO7RN-F type. Also other cables coming from the heater (such as those for the signal lamp, locking circuit for other heating appliances) should be of corresponding type and have a similar cross-section as the above mentioned.

To connect a heater with an one-piece bottom part: - Remove the screws (1) on both sides of the heater. - Remove the bottom part. - Connect the heater - Mount the bottom part. - Mount the screws (1) back. To connect a heater with the connection box behind the type plate: - Remove the screws (1) on the type plate. - Remove the type plate. - Connect the heater. - Put the type plate back. - Mount the screws (1) back.

VOR DER INBETRIEBNAHME

Vor dem Netzanschluß und der Inbetriebnahme des

Ofens muß kontrolliert werden, ob:

- folgende Teile mitgeliefiert sind: Ofen und Ofensteine.

- die Spannung des Ofens und Steuergeräts richtig ist und

das Steuergerät zu dem Ofen paßt.

- die Leistung des Ofens für die Sauna geeignet ist.

Die in Tabelle 1 angegebenen Volumina der Sauna dür-

fen weder über- noch unterschritten werden.

- die Montageabstände in Abb. 1-3 müssen unbedingt be-

folgt werden. Abweichungen bedeuten Feuergefahr!

- machen Sie sich mit dieser Installations- und Gebrauch-

sanweisung vertraut.

LEISTUNG DES OFENS

Die Ofenleistung wird nach Tabelle 1 gewählt. Eine Vor-aussetzung für die Werte der Tabelle ist jedoch, daß die Sauna gut isoliert ist. Wenn es in der Sauna Ziegel- oder Betonwände ohne Holzverkleidung gibt, muß zu dem Volumen etwa 1,2 Kubikmeter für jeden Quadratmeter der Ziegel- oder Betonwände addiert werden und die Ofenleistung ergibt sich dann anhand der zusammengerechneten Volumina.

INSTALLATION DES OFENS

Der Ofen darf nur in einer Sauna aus geeignetem,

harzarmem und unbehandeltem Holz (z.B. nordische Fichte, Kiefer oder Hemlock) eingebaut werden. Der

Ofen wird an der Wand der Sauna mit den mitgelieferten Schrauben befestigt. Zuerst muß jedoch kontrolliert

werden, ob der Befestigungsplatz stark genug ist. Bei der Installation des Ofens müssen die Mindestabstände zu

brennbaren Materialen beachtet werden. Diese Abstände gehen aus dem Schild des Ofens, Tabelle 1 sowie Abb. 1

und 2 hervor.Die Wand hinter und neben dem Ofen sowie die Decke

über dem Ofen dürfen nicht z.B. mit einer Asbest- oder Eternitplatte geschützt werden. Die Anwendung solcher

Platten kann eine zu große Temperatursteigerung im Wand- und Deckenmaterial verursachen.

Man darf nur einen Ofen in eine Sauna einsetzen.

Die Saunaöfen dürfen nicht in eine Nische eingebaut werden.

Abweichungen von den Anweisungen bedeuten Feuergefahr!

OFENSCHUTZ

Soll ein Ofenschutz um den Ofen gebaut werden, müssendie in Abb. 3 angegebenen Mindestabstände beachtet

werden. Bitte beachten Sie, daß der Ofen im Betrieb heiß wird.

SAUNASTEINE

Die Steine können etwas staubig sein und deshalb empfehlen wir, diese vor Gebrauch zu waschen. Die größeren Steine werden zuunterst gelegt. Die Steine dürfen nicht zu dicht gelegt werden, da die Luft-zirkulation dadurch verhindert

würde. Wenn die Steine zerkrümmeln, müssen sie umgetauscht werden, damit das Aggregat

nicht zerstört wird. Größe der Steine ca. Ø 30-80mm.

STEUERGERÄT

Bitte lesen Sie die separate Montage und Gebrauchsanweisung des Saunasteurgerätes.

Diese gibt Auskunft über die Bedienung und den Montageort der Steuerung. Der Temperaturfühler

der Saunasteurung wird nach Angabe der Installations- und Gebrauchsanweisung des Ofens vorgenommen, siehe Abb. 1.

Sicherheitshinweis:

Wird nach Ablauf der Zeitschaltuhr (eingebaut in Sauna-Steuergerät) diese erneut gestartet, so ist vorher der Saunaraum zu besichtigen.

INSTALLATION DES STEUERGERÄTS

Das Steuergerät wird an einem trockenen Platz außerhalb der Sauna installiert, siehe separate

Gebrauchsanweisung des Steuergerätes. Die Fühler des Thermostats und Temperaturbegrenzers werden durch

ein Loch in die Sauna geführt. Die Fühler werden an der Wand der Sauna gemäß Abb. 1 befestigt. Bei der Befestigung des Fühlerschutzes müssen die Abstände in Abb. 1 unbedingt befolgt werden.Abweichungen bedeuten Feuergefahr!

NETZANSCHLUß

Montage und Anschluß der Saunaeinrichtungen und

anderer elektrischer Bauteile dürfen nur von einem dazu berechtigten Fachmann ausgeführt werden; dabei ist

VDE 0100, Teil 703 zu beachten. Der Anschluß erfolgt gemäß Abb. 5 und Abb. 6. Im Ofen und dem Steuergerät befinden sich die erforderlichen Schaltschemen. Der Saunaofen darf nur über einen festen Anschluß mit dem Netz verbunden werden. Das Anschlußkabel muß mindestens ein Gummikabel HO7RN-F sein (Tabelle 1).

Die Anschlußdose muß eine spritzwassergeschütze

Ausführung sein und die Dose darf höchstens 50 cm vom Fußboden entfernt sein.

In der Zuleitung zum Sauna-Steuergerät ist eine Vorrichtung zu installieren, der die gesamte Saunaanlage allpolig vom Netz abschaltet. Dazu ist ein FI-Schalter mit 3mm Kontaktöffnung geeignet.

Empfohlene Saunabelüftung

1. Saunaraum 3. Elektrisches Saunaheizgerät 5. Entlüftungsrohr oder -kanal 2. Waschraum 4. Auslassventil 6. Tür zum Saunaraum 7. Eine Lüftungsklappe, die beim Beheizen der Sauna und während des Badens geschlossen bleibt, kann hier installiert werden. Der Lufteinlass kann im Bereich A positioniert werden. Sorgen Sie dafür, dass die hereinströmende Frischluft nicht das Thermostat des Saunaheizgeräts in der Nähe der Decke beeinträchtigt (d. h. abkühlt). Der B-Bereich dient als Bereich für die einströmende Frischluft, falls die Sauna nicht mit einer Fremdbelüftung ausgestattet ist. In diesem Fall ist das Auslassventil mindestens 1 m über dem Einlassventil installiert. INSTALLIEREN SIE DAS EINLASSVENTIL NICHT INNERHALB VON BEREICH C, FALLS SICH DAS THERMOSTAT DES HEIZUNGSREGLERS IM SELBEN BEREICH BEFINDET.

Installation des Sensors in der Nähe einer Zuluftöffnung

Die Saunaraumluft sollte sechs Mal pro Stunde ausgetauscht werden. Der Durchmesser der Zuluftleitung sollte fünf bis zehn Zentimeter betragen. Eine zirkulär (360 °) arbeitende Belüftungsöffnung muss in einem Mindestabstand von 1 Meter zum Sensor installiert werden. Eine Belüftungsöffnung mit Luftführung (180 °) muss in einem Mindestabstand von 0,5 Meter zum Sensor installiert werden. Der Luftstrom muss vom Sensor weg geleitet werden.

Heizsteine Qualitativ hochwertige Steine sollten die folgenden Anforderungen erfüllen: - Sie sind hitzebeständig sowie resistent gegen Temperaturschwankungen, die durch Verdampfen d es auf die Steine geschütteten Wassers entstehen.

- Die Heizsteine sollten vor der Verwendung gespült werden, um Gerüche und Staubbildung zu vermeiden.

- Heizsteine sind ungleichmäßig geformt, um eine größere Verdampfungsfläche zu erzielen. - Heizsteine sollten zwischen 50 und 80 mm Durchmesser aufweisen, um eine ausreichende Luftzirkulation zwischen den einzelnen Steinen zu ermöglichen. Dies verlängert die Lebensdauer der

Heizelemente.

- Die Anzahl der Heizsteine darf nicht zu groß sein, damit eine ausreichende Luftzirkulation möglich ist. Heizelemente dürfen nicht gegeneinander oder gegen den Rahmen gebogen werden.

- Schichten Sie die Steine mindestens einmal jährlich neu auf und ersetzen Sie zu kleine Steine oder Bruchstücke durch neue Steine ausreichender Größe. - Die Steine werden so aufgeschichtet, dass sie die Heizelemente abdecken. Es sollte jedoch keine zu große Anzahl von Steinen auf die Heizelemente geschichtet werden. Tabelle 1 auf Seite 3 enthält Informationen zur empfohlenen Menge von Steinen. Zu kleine Steine dürfen nicht in das Saunaheizgerät gefüllt werden. - Ziegelsteine dürfen nicht verwendet werden. Sie können Schäden am Heizgerät hervorrufen, die nicht durch die Garantie abgedeckt sind.

- Lavasteine dürfen nicht verwendet werden. Sie können Schäden am Heizgerät hervorrufen, die nicht durch die Garantie abgedeckt sind.

- Verwenden Sie keinen Speckstein als Saunasteine. Die Garantie deckt keine Schäden ab, die durch die Verwendung von Speckstein entstehen.

- DAS HEIZGERÄT NIEMALS OHNE STEINE VERWENDEN!

Türschalter Der Begriff „Türschalter“ bezieht sich auf den Schalter an der Saunatür. Der Schalter entspricht den Vorschriften von Abschnitt 22.100 der Norm EN 60335 2-53. Öffentliche und private Saunen, d. h. Saunen, bei denen das Heizgerät außerhalb der Sauna oder mit einer Zeitschaltuhr (Timer) eingeschaltet werden kann, müssen über einen Türschalter verfügen. Die Steuergeräte in den Helo (OT 2 PS, OT 2 PLE und OT 2 PL-3) können entweder mit Helo-Türschalteradapter DSA 1601 – 35 (RA – 35) mit der Artikelnummer 001017 oder mit Helo-Türschalteradapter mit der Artikelnummer 0043233 ausgestattet werden.
