What is Aurora GDC?● Aurora is multifaceted. We:
○ Teach about the game dev. process■ Different roles in the industry■ Guest speakers■ Documentation
○ Develop video games■ Training Group■ Team Projects

○ We’ve helped facilitate the creation of many video games■ 20+ video games were on display at
the showcase● Attended conferences

How do our meetings work?● Articles of the Week
○ Gives us insight into the industry● Checkpoint Presentations/ Peer Reviews
○ Allows the club to see your progress/ give you helpful feedback

Who can join?● Aurora Game Development Club is open to
all GSU Students, regardless of major● However, it is recommended that youhave
an interest in:○ Programming○ Art○ Design○ Sound
● Don’t be deterred, it’s easy to learn!
Training Group● Lead by Robby● Introduces you to GameMaker
○ Drag and Drop functionality● All new members must participate in training
group first!● Robby’s comments
Why a training group? ● Provides you with an introduction to the
design process● Allows you to see what facet of game dev
you like the most● Prepares you for team projects next
semester● Shows the club that you are driven and
committed● Some of our best games have come from
the training group!
Team Projects● How does it work?
○ Each team is an indie dev. studio!○ Follows along the same design process
as training group○ Roles may include:
■ Project Lead■ Artist■ Audio Engineer■ Writers and Designers■ Programmers
*Members are not limited to just one role.
Project Leads● There will be a Project Lead for each team● Leads are responsible for:
○ Delegating tasks○ Facilitating and ensuring the completion
of a project○ Representing the project
● Good forethought and planning are key to not being bogged down later on in the semester!
What are the goals?● To gain invaluable experience in game dev.● To have effectively created a video game
experience for the AGDC Showcase○ It may not be polished…○ It may have a bug or two…○ It may not have come out exactly how you
envisioned it…○ But it’s your video game creation!
■ And other people will get to experience something that you made!
Club Dues● What do dues go towards?● How much are dues?● Different ways to pay● Members should have their dues paid by
September 15, the beginning of the project cycle
Looking ahead...● General Game Jam/Meet & Greet
○ This weekend: August 29 - 30● Project Lead Applications due Sunday!
○ You can bring them to the game jam● Next Monday: no meeting due to Labor Day● Georgia Fall Game Jam 2014 - SPSU
○ September 26-28○ Jam’s theme: Health and Well-being○ May still be free admission tickets left!
